I love this style of music, I am australian and I really wanna learn the gayageum, tho my husband said it may take many years to study this art and a single gayageum may cost over 10,000AUD, Im just 20yrs old but i turely appriciate this style of muisc and the tym and effort gone into learning the gayageum
@TheRivalConcept Hi! It's nice to see other Westerners appreceating Asian arts. I've been learning the Koto, the Japanese version of the Kayagum for a number of years now. I am not certain of the exchange rate of the Australian currency compared to US dollars but I recently I saw some Kayagums of very decent quality listed for about $500.00 on a certain website. The place is called "Sound of Asia" in case you're still interested. Good luck!
Well at least the DPRK has SOME musicians who don't wear military uniforms and sing about dawn rising on the road to the front. Ironic (or miraculous) that there are still traditional musicians in NK when in the 1950's "Dear Leader" persecuted traditional musicians and other practitioners of such bourgeois pursuits almost to extinction.
Actually, North Korean people are generally better at classical Korean music than us in the South. We listen to pop music, they listen to classical stuff.
The military uniform is weird. They don't wear them all the time, you just see that in the news alot.
im mexican this is my first time seeing anything like this although i studied korean in college... i would love to see this/ be a part of this how beautiful touches my heart
This music is very nice. Though i think i speak for every one when i say NK has a lot 2 hide from the world n tries 2 cover it up with simular perfomances
If there were such a thing as a traditional Kayagum symphony, this would probably be it. I know this sounds absurd but it just sounds so right and appropriate. The piece sounds nice and traditional yet at the same time it sounds modern and in such unity. Note that I don't think it sounds great because it sounds modern, but it sounds great because it sounds traditional and yet it's modern.

Even I have to agree. Most of the classical Korean music stuff I see on youtube is usually from North Korea.
