I played most of the old car combat games, twisted metal 2 and black are still the kings, but this were cool in their own right. People hate on twisted metal so much but the only bad twisted game was 3 and the story on 4 was shit but the game it self was awesome.Still With the new twisted metal game, maybe we will see a rebirth of the car combat genre.

I never liked twisted metal. I thought he would not reach the feet of vigilante 8 (1998 - 1999) but now with new games (Vigilante 8 Arcade - Twisted Metal Hands on!), If we compare the graphics and gameplay, Twisted Metal scampered unfortunately. :/

Hmm, I might consider buying this game, I'm a big "Interstate 76" fan, the series it spun off of, so I'd probaly like it. I also still have my N64 and have been meaning on getting some more games for it. I'd say this looks better then "Twisted Metal" but "I76" is probaly better. But it's a matter of opinion, "I76" was less of a car combat game and more of a car combat simulator.

Since this and TM2 nothing has come close. I loved the snow level in this game, it was huge and I loved falling down the mountain. Also car damage was superb, unlike most games like this cars looked like a wreck when they were nearly out of health.

I got both games in Like New condition, the 1st and the 2nd one, the first Vigilante 8 was like brand new the manual, cd, and case was like brand new. The 2nd one I got was a former blockbuster rental, the manual was torn, but it plays great.

For me, Twisted Metal 2 was still better than Vigilante 8. The stages, cars special moves and thematic of TM are unique and much more creative. For an example, you can grab a car with a bulldozer and slam him on the ground, or create a tornado with a F1 car and engulf the enemies with it. All this in the sweet streets of Paris, or LA, with the citizens in the way!! To all I recommend Twisted Metal Head-On (PS2) that is basically a remake of Twisted Metal 2 (PS1). See and convince yourselves.

2nd Offense had potential and I like the added variety but some of the missions were horrible (Stop the freight truck on the bridge? Why? And god help you if it's a small vehicle you're driving)

I dunno about you guys but I always HATED the landmines. Such a waste of a weapon, very rarely would someone actually tailgate you to make them useful.

2 things that twisted metal needs that this game has. physics that feels like your controlling something with wheels and directional damage spots on the cars. even on the ps2 tm still hasnt done that. tm is still a really fun long standing game and i hope it never dies. i just wish it could feel like im steering the car in real time instead of something that feels like im sliding a block of wood with wheels thats only animated to look like its steering. that to me is lame. tm3 wins in that depth

I remember staying up all night playing this. Everyone had a PS2 or an Xbox. I had my Nintendo 64 AND PlayStation 1, with both V8 and V8:2O on both of them. I sold the PSX versions though, still own the N64 versions and still play them.

I remember the first time using the Road Runner. I randomly found the combination and when I used it I laughed so hard that it woke my dad up... it was 4:30 in the morning!

I got a V8:2O theme remix on my profile. Check it out sometime, brings back memories.
