  • two people are smug, self-righteous canadians.

  • I appreciate what America does. I'm glad to be an American. :)

  • Second Underdog, I didn't take it in the least that Sinclair was directing his comments at Canada. I took him to mean that he 'hoped' Canada would join in with those who were slighting us. And about the Marshall Plan, um Tea Party has it correct. The Marshall Plan was funded by the American taxpayer. And that's why infinite amounts of that money was never paid back. They can get away with shafting the American taxpayer. The Federal Reserve, IMF or World Bank would never had been so kind.

  • I meant that he hoped Canada would 'not' join in with those who were slighting us.

  • First off Banana, you've lost your mind. Britain didn't build anything here. 233 years have gone by since you've had any influence here and I think we've done a condsiderable amount of building on our own in that time period. And, in addition to what we've built here, we've made time to make darn certain that you and the rest of the world weren't sending their tax money to Berlin or Moscow. If you think for one second the outcome would have been any different without us you would be mistaken.

  • And it was Britain that built America.

  • @Underdogness....you speak of the Fed Reserve, let me correct you....the American Taxpayers paid for the Marshall Plan. Also, most of your rhetoric comes from a Canadian living under the umbrella of Freedom provided by the US Military.....without the US Military, Canada would have been speaking Russian a long time ago.

  • In my mind what Mike Myers was saying is that Canadians can be very funny as we are once removed from the American experience. This gives us a unique perspective which can be exploited quite effectively for comedy. My point is that I hope to give the same perspective in more of an economic/political vein. I hope that clears it up for you at least.

  • .Canada...Fuck yea.....Discussion over.

  • Too much Hollywood, too little reality...But to all the right winger Canada haters out there - move. I'll stay here in the country without one bank collapse. In the country that under a Liberal government of all things has a federal surplus of balance almost in perpetuity, that lead to the most cound banking system in the world even at this very moment..I'll stay here and gush over this amazing country that my forefathers and myself built. The rest can move where they think the grass is greener

  • @Underdogness Yes, we Americans have issues. We acknowledge them and strive to improve ourselves. Many Canadians live in a dream world of perfection. Guess that is why your dollar is called the 'Looney'. Oh, the Federal Reserve is PUBLIC federal agency, you boob. Its akin to the Bank of Canada. Geez!

  • @trathen35 I visited Canada some years back and I can tell you that the reason they call it the Luney is because there are pictures of 'Lunes' (ducks) on their currency.

I agree that there is nothing that is anti-Canadian about this video.

  • Thirdly, while gushing on about moon landings Sinclair dismisses some very interesting things: The chief engineer of the Lunar Lander was Owen Maynard from Woodstock Ontario. It's stabilizers were designed and constructed in Montreal. Canadian Bruce Aikenhead trained many of those atsronauts who otherwise would not have the knowhow to "walk" in space. This tiny country produce these crucial elements, yet never a word from Sinclair.

  • @Underdogness Your nation prostitutes itself to Americans. Try wearing a turban and work in a government office in Canada. Everyone must be bilingual to keep Quebec happy though only french is allowed in the province. How's that great Canadian navy? Buy any used US submarines lately? Why have all the talented hockey players gone to US teams (Go Chicago- Lord Stanley would be so proud)?

  • There's a reason ridiculous restraints were put on American troops in Vietnam, like they were not allowed to fire on the enemy with top level clearance. Laughable. They would win fast without these restrictions. No money in that though.

  • Secondly, Vietnam was a fraudulent misadventure pushed by the military-industrial complex. the Gulf of Tonkin incident is a proven fraud. Never happened. A false flag. No one was was "stale mated". This was a money making enterprise at the expense of the lives of hordes of blindly patriotic fools.

  • The point is Sinclair was a drama-queen. These rants were his signature gimmick and it made him a good dollar.

This video has no relevance today and heavy on selective memory and light on facts. Like any country, some will like what you do at a given time, some won't. Sinclair's sappy, sentimental masturbation ignores the shades of grey. Firstly, the American federal reserve that put the cash up for the Marshall plan is a private bank owned largely by European interests.

  • I'm curious. What's "Anti-Canadian" about my site?

  • I clearly stated "borders" on antiCanadianism. A double entendre if you look hard enough :) But to clear up any notion there is such a sentiment harboured therein, what was the reference to Mike Myer's alleged statement about?..In clear concise terms. What was the message you're trying to convey..Just curious.

  • That reminds me, we had friends from Minnesota visit in mid- August. Went for a Tim Hortons coffee, The hated it. And so did I LOL..And speaking of appreciation for countries in a more current context, google "Thanks Canada" by David Meadows...Everyone likes a pat on the head dont they :)

  • Yes, yes, here's a pat on the head for the Americans. Fine. This is a little dated though. Well over 3 decades old is some stale material! :) Your site borders on crazed antiCanadianism unfortunately. Apparently even if a Canadian is funny he owes it to Americans lol! Strange thing for Myers to suggest, if he did - almost all his influences were British :) A little late for doggy treats now, though, the U.S. is fading fast and the next power will take over. So its been for millenia.

  • so much bitterness in your words, yet typical of those afflicted with what I call the Canadian syndrome. Being born American to a Canadian mother (cousin to P. Trudeau) and an American father, having grown-up along the St Lawrence, I have seen this syndrome time and again expressed by a good number of Canadians. Canadians the "Peace Keepers" yet you don't mention your own crown inquiry into war crimes committed by your troops. Please, take back Mike Myers, he isn't that funny.

  • Timmy's sucks. Everyone in Quebec hates the rest of Canada and vise-versa. Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto are all dirty whore filled cities. The Peace tower was built by American's with Potsdam, NY sandstone. Canada is a nation held together out of need not desire. Rene L was right. 90 % of your population clings to the US/Canadian border. Why so? Your great healthcare system is killing you all, well not those who travel to the US. Why do you have a Gov General appointed by the Queen?

  • Underdogness - Until recent, the legal age of consent in Canada was 14, yes 14! Hence the rampant child molestation ( Check out current news about Cornwall) and child sex slave industry. Your softwood industry, oil sands, hydro dams (ask the Cree of James Bay) are some of the biggest assaults on the environment in modern times. Oh Canada, your home and native land... well except if you are aboriginal.
