I am a beginner with gimp and I have no idea how to get this plug-in for resynthizer installed.I already downloaded the plug-in but don't know how to install it on gimp.Help! D:
@hanciong: I guess you are on Windows if you ask that... go to the website (sorry, YouTube does not allow posting links here) download the ZIP file and extract it into the directory structure (I believe some files have to go in Program Files)
nicubunu... are you the creator if this video? The reason I ask is because there's a scam artist trying to sell Gimp and some other free software and he used this video on his site (he's actually hosting the video, not embedding it from your channel). I'm trying to get the guy shut down for being horrible at life (and ignoring open source ethics).
The site is "photoeditx" (where he has your video and at least one other YT user that I've found). He has a YT account under the name "lucasgodfrey0" ...trying to find one other person he stole from.
@grimcity: yes, I am the author (and I am also the guy on the right part of the picture) but there is little I can do against the scamer, my video has a Free license as in CC-BY-SA, all I can ask is credits and sharing alike.
As a first step I think I will put a blog post about his scam. Thanks for the notice.
Sure thing man, I posted about this at gimptalk (in the general discussion area) and trying to make people aware of the scam. It just sucks that he'd use your personal stuff and others as well to make a buck.
Anyway, cheers to you from Louisiana! Thanks for hitting me back!
@grimcity this was my first reaction nicubunu.blogspot.com/2010/07/scammers.html - it goes aggregated in a few Linux and FLOSS communities, so will get some exposure, maybe the guy will receive a certain amount of "fan mails" :D
cool..but sadly mine doesn't work idk why when i use tha resynthesizer it takes pieces from like the top of the picture..i even crop the pic but still doesn't look good not even close to ok..
This does not work on my computer. The results of the plugin looks so horrible. It takes pieces from the top of the image (sky) and adds it to the selected area in every tried photos. So there will be white area in the area if the sky is white and if its blue, then its blue area.. yeah... And its maybe not what the plugin is supposed to do?
@zorbie It works a lot better if you crop the image to only what matters. For example say you 50% of the image is sky at the top, and 50% is grass at the bottom, and you want to get rid of a plane in the sky, crop the image to only the sky, then do it. Then itll look good. You can also mess with the numbers in the options for it for better results
How did you do this... can you explain it step by step please... I've tried doing it but it is not working for me =\ am I missing something that you didn't show in your video ??? also I am trying to remove words... have any advice ?
oh wow! while simply checking my morning news before getting to work... i followed a series of links starting on planet ubuntu... i get here... and this is exactly the work i have to do today... only in a fraction of the time! thanks Nicu! maybe there is hope for the weekend! :D
now if i can find a plugin for batch resizing and creating thumbnails...
As I am on Linux (Fedora), installation was a breeze for me: it was packaged for my distro and all I had to do was to install it jus any regular application.
For the Windows version (which I believe you are using) I guess you have to download the .zip file, extract it and put the files in their respective directories Program Files/GIMP-2.0/...
The zip contains some files, sorted in folders and sub-folders, for example you have to put resynthesizer.exe in /Program Files/GIMP-2.0/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/resynthesizer.exe and so on for every file.
I think you can do that easily by extracting the archive directly on C: with keeping the full paths.
not the best example. if you play with the configurations a bit you can get a seamless removal.

Does this work on mac computers without bootcamp?
SolarEclipse1897 2 years ago
GIMP does work on OS X but I believe this plugin is available only for Linux and Windows.
nicubunu 2 years ago
Ok. Thank you.
SolarEclipse1897 2 years ago
It is available on Mac OS X, but you have to install GIMP through Mac Ports, and build this plugin from source, which is very easy actually.
Maybe there's another method, but this work just fine.

Yeah i'm using windows, I have no idea still where to put it. Oh well, maybe i'll figure it out somehow, thank you though.

Omg, I'll try my best. I just suck with using labtops, so i'm just starting to get to know everything..hehe
