You are correct, this is that same stretch of road NE of L.A. And last I heard the restaurant in the movie Duel is still there, but it's now a French restaurant LOL.
LOL of course by this point in the movie the cop had already had plenty of previous experience at running cocky kids off the road and down a hill, it was just routine business for him.
Vic Morrow had the role of the Dangerous Badass down to a science. Blackboard Jungle, Combat, Roots.........nobody else cound have played Sergeant Saunders in Combat like Vic.....
Hell yeah, that's another reason I like this --> Vic Morrow. Loved'em in BlackBoard Jungle, even in his younger days (like BlackBoard Jungle in 1955) he could display/act-out a type of 'meaness' you usually can't get/display until you're much older/grumpier, LOL.
