  • Yep, and a couple of weeks later (in a replacement game) the Cowboys went to Giants Stadium wearing their blue jerseys again this time against the Jets. The only difference this time is that the Jets wore their white unis at home for the entire season not just against the Cowboys.

  • There's just something about hearing Summerall and Madden call the NFC east games that just brings back alot of memories.

Also, Allegre was a medicore placekicker. That's why the Colts drafted Dean Biasucci in Indaniapolis, and why the Giants brought in Matt Bahr in 1990. Allegre was always in danger of losing his job.

  • Wow, I remember this game. I was living in England and 15 at the time. I concur with the comments about the blue uniforms. Although I must confess, I had a 33 Blue Jersey in honour on Tony Dorsett. Great days, getting my copy of First Down every Thursday or Friday, watching Channel Four's excellent coverage with Mick Luckhurst and then Gary Imlach. To our American friends, yes Pat Summerall and John Madden were the best commmentating team period.

  • the "hated" blue home uniforms don't really jinx the cowboys anymore. dallas wore them against the buccaneers and the redskins. They won both games. Also I remember the 07 game against philadelphia in which they wore the blue jerseys when jason witten's helmet was taken off and he kept running.

  • How bout them Cowboys!

  • the wind grabbed the ball

  • Yes the white uniforms were bad luck. Tonight I stumbled on the first two games of the 87 season. Our asses got handed to us in the opener vs Chicago, a tough pill to swallow. And watching this brought back all the bad memories of this game vs Dallas. This one hurt worse than the Bears opener. We should have won this game. It hurts worse now than it did then.

  • Wow. Could that possibly be the last time the Giants wore white jerseys at home??

  • @njwhse good q. think Giants were trying to mess with Dallas- home team always has choice of jerseys- just to make Cowboys wear their hated blue road jerseys.

  • @njwhse Nope. Next to last game I do believe. In 2000, the year the Giants switched back to the Old jersey's with the "NY" on their helmets, they opened up the season by wearing their white jerseys at home in a game against the Arizona Cardinals. For what reason I do not know.

  • @DanimalBr ..yeah. that was the Thunder and Lightning game. Funny thing, i was at that game...i must've been drunker than i thought...i dont recall the jerseys that day.

  • COWBOYS BABY !

  • Oh well.

The Giants are better than Dallas today.

The G-Men are on a mission to win it all.

    1986, 1990, 2007 and going for more.

  • LOL

  • Do you make a habit of smoking crack then commenting on youtube?

  • That was great to see fat ass Parcells stupidly pump his fist while watching his kicker miss the field goal. Typical New Jersey con-man stuff there.

  • @Weissmenchland Three of the players around him were doing the same thing because it started off straight, then hooked left...

  • allegre choked that day

  • i wish you would post the giants cowboys game in 1986 ..the year before i remember i was 6 years old at that game..simms had a horrible day but we won 17-14 and septien missed a 62 yarder at the end...way short lol

  • Dallas should have ran Dorsett on that 4th and Goal. He had a good game with 70 yards. Maybe with Walker in motion and Dorsett and newsome in the backfield would have spread out the defense and a pitch to Dorsett or even a draw to Newsome would have worked.

But who am I to 2nd guess Tom Landry?

  • Man so many hall of famers involved i know like 5 but could be more with cowboys O line Nate newton and parcell possibly being future hall of famers and also giants linebacker Banks, i dont think he is hall of fame yet but iam pretty sure he will be soon.Carson,Lt, White,Dorset and offcourse coach Landry

  • Comment removed

  • The Cowboys hate wearing Navy blue jerseys. The Giants coach in 1981, Ray Perkins decided to make the Cowboys the only road team to wear dark jerseys at Giants Stadium. As you can see, it carried over to the Bill Parcells era.

  • summerall lives in dallas and it showed when allegre missed the kick ,,i almost thought it was the local cowboy network,,,,,,,nevertheless summerall and madden best tandem ever

  • what are you talking about Summerall played with the giants during his career if anything he was a giants fan

  • @FLA2000SEAN Summerall is actually a Giants homer. Remember that he played with them and remained close to the Maras his entire life. Listen to Summerall's call when the Giants beat the 49ers in the 90 NFC Title Game. You could here the favortism in his voive when LT recovered Craig's fumble, and when Bahr hit the game-winning kick at the final gun.

  • @optimus2g he also loved dallas, as he lived there and has worked locally on cowboys related things, and he may have also like dallas because of landry, who was the giants defensive coordinator during several seasons that summerall played for them

  • @22steve5150 Of course he loved Landry. Landry also loved the Maras. After JJ fired him, Welly invited him to sit with him in his Owner's box for the Rams-Giants playoff game at Giants Stadium in January of 1990. Welly had Landry as his DC---who played his whole career for them---and Lombardi---a native NYer---as his OC, and hired neither. No wonder the Giants' lost years were when those 2 were in their hey day and the Giants were completely mismanaged.

  • @optimus2g yeah, it is amazing how they had 2 of the greatest coaches in league history as OC and DC and ended up letting both of them go, though in fairness i believe they actually tried to get lombardi back in the early 60s. well too bad for them, as i dont think that any packers fans or cowboys fans are gonna shed a tear about it!

  • @22steve5150 Nor should they. Their dynasties were birthed in part to the Giants' incompetence during that era. I was lucky enough to be a fan of the Giants from the George Young era forward in which they won 3 SBs and got to a 4th, while also leaving a possible championship on the table in 1989. If Welly wasn't so overly loyal and into nepotism, they would have fired Allie Sherman and hired Lombardi before he got scooped up.

  • why are they in their white jerseys at home

  • Back in the '70's and '80's some teams chose to make the Cowboys wear their dark jerseys on the road, because supposedly, the Cowboys had a losing record with them and preferred to ALWAYS wear white. Its believed that the Cowboys considered the dark jerseys a "jinx" since wearing them in SUPER BOWL V, which they lost to the Colts. Obviously, the Giants bought into this "mind game", as they always wear blue at home.....I hope I answered your question.

  • This style of "Blue" jersey is a darker hue that is a 2nd generation navy blue. The 1st generation was a navy blue w/ silver number design. The original Royal blue jersey was last worn in the loss to Philadelphia 20-7 in the 1981 NFC Championship game.

  • Yeah that was the bad luck UNIFORMS, i will never forgive those sorry Eagles for making us wear those back then. I will always HATE the EAGLES!!!!

  • Back in the days GO COWBOYS

  • Cowboys weren't very good this year but the defending champ Giants were worse. Dallas won the later meeting on a monday night also and the Giants finished 6-9 in the strike shortened year. I will always remember 87 as the year of the SCABS

  • I HATE The Cowboys, but I respect the hell out of Tom Landry. That guy was an incredible coach.

Thanks for posting this game man. I LOVE old school football games. Look forward to more

  • damn man any film of the Giants cowboys game a year before ...Giants 17- cowboys 14 i was at that game

  • remember the cowboys@giants game in 1985? that was a great game too. ABC sunday night game. Cowboys 30 Giants 29.

  • Man this game I remember, right befire the strike how frustrating this game was.Thank You for posting this!!
