Easily one of the best singer/songwriters in history. Never heard of Mike Silver before, when i went to see him perform at the "Haus", Ludwigshafen, Germany back in '92. Unforgettable! He enchanted the audience with his charming narrative approach, moving lyrics and sophisticated guitarplay. To my amazement, parts of the crowd sang happily (in several voices - goosebumps!) along with "Old Fashioned Saturday Night", so he must have had a strong local following already. Including me, ever since :)
I had been introduced to the music of this great artist by harpist Jerry Spurlock. Those were live tapes from Mike's gigs in Amsterdam in eighties - I was amazed by the great guitar picking technique and his showmanship. I also performed ''Sailors All'' inspired by Mike's performance. Great inspiration.
I've been lucky enough to see Mike perform live a few times, and this (I think) doesn't do justice to his voice or guitar playing, which is absolutely spellbinding. I still enjoyed it tho. Thanks for posting. x
I've not heard this song for a very long time and It's just as lovely now as it was then. Thanks for posting!

I agree with Judyteen2 I saw Mike way back in the day in the 70s at a folk club on the hill in Hampsted when he was singing songs like " Woman"

I had searched for Mike Siler on YouTube and thought I was commenting on him. Just now I realized that this was "Silver" instead of "Siler".
Do, my earlier comment was about Mike Siler.

Not only is Mike a great "old style" country singer but he's a really nice person as well. He's been out to my home a few times.
