  • IN: 0,05MM ( thats right ) and EX: should be 0,10MM.

  • where is the "other one" you speak of...?

  • Just the info I needed - Many thanks :-)

  • what is the adjustment for? what does it do? do all normal scooters need adjustment?

  • How often do we need to do that valve clearance adjustment?

  • I took my scooter to a local store and they told me the valve cover is leaking oil-would I do the same thing in the video but instead just check/replace the gasket under that cover? Or is it somewhere else?

  • I just changed the vavle springs on my gy6 150cc engine. Now I can't get the vavles adjusted where the engine both starts good and runs good. I'm trying everything, .003 on intake & 003 on Exh, then .003 on intake and .004 on exh, the .004 on intake & .004 on Exh, then .oo4 on intake & .003 on exh, then .004 on intake & .005 on exh.

In other words, I've tried every reasonable combination, but still no good.

  • Do you know how to change a broken valve spring on a GY6? Is it hard? Do I need a special tool? THX

  • I was wondering where did you get the calipers? because I cannot seem to find them online or the ones like you have on the vid.

  • what was wrong with it before??? cuz mine will start and run but will die after like 5 secs and its got good gas new carb but also when i try to pull the throttle is just kills it right away plz i need help!!!

  • 0.05 mm are enough? This is a bit tight.

  • @alphanostrum 0.08mm is fine.

  • 1 question anly :] ammm when you open the cover, is there any oil in it ? because normaly there is 1 liter of oil in the engine, wount it come out when you open it, must you drain the oil before opening the cover ?

  • @Guitarnoob99 There`s no oil in it, because if there would your belt would be slippery all the time when you try to accelerate :)

  • @447za

    ok than you :]

  • @447za there is oil in it, but it stays in the crankcase, when you start is the chain takes the oil to the top, the top part is lubricated with this " splash oil ". It's a chain not a belt...

  • @447za its called a feeler guage

  • @Guitarnoob99 U might get a small drop of oil nothing bad, BUT dont start the engine with the cover off or you will be in a big mess! lol...

  • where did you buy your calipers? what are they called? " valve adjust calipers?" i was trying to find it on ebay but couldn't :(

  • @Straightbangin1979 I bought mine in local hardware store or you can try to look a local car spareparts store :)

  • @447za thanks

  • @447za thanks, i got a good deal on some from amazon. great vid :)

  • @447za its called a feeler guage

  • @Straightbangin1979 its a fealer guage any autoparts store has them

  • @Straightbangin1979 they are called "Feeler Gauge" if you are still wondering.

  • @Straightbangin1979 haha thanks. I bought them awhile ago on Amazon :) good lookin' out though :)

  • this helped me alot, thanks. fixed my scooter because of this video.

  • Hey man, great video! I wanted to ask you: You suggested .05 mm in your video and that's what my GY6 (50cc) manual says also. Why are people on scooter forums giving me different numbers? Everyone says something different anywhere from .002 inches to .004. I converted and they're not the same. Should I just do what you and the manual say?

  • @MeestaNoName Do what your manual says, different bikes will have slightly different requirements so it's best to stick to the manual's advice.

  • whichever is the exhaust and intake valve?

  • what does this do

  • i have baotian bt49qt-9..i change cylinder and piston...now it's 72cc and i don't know how much must be the valves..?

  • dude you have one strange cilinder....where is your piston and shit?

  • @Tommie211093 if you didnt know there is cylinder head under before you can see piston...

  • amh, why does it need to do?

what this valves adjusment is giving back?

  • A friend told me about your video

  • @OnlineScooterGuide NIce to hear that :)

  • Needle nose pliers and a crescent wrench? Really? And why do people think that a soundtrack of the stupidest music ever made adds anything to their video?

  • two stroke is best for engines under 900cc :P

  • thanks for the info. I just redid the head on my scooter and could not find a book any where to adjust the valves or find the proper placement of the gear for timing. I will buy u lunch if u ever come to town...lol pugman

  • You are awesome man! Thanks for helping me brother! & thanks for posting this helpful video!

  • @london1817 Im happy to hear that, great that my video helped you :)

  • i don't like using adjustable's for this delicate parts they tend to slip off and cause damage to nuts...how much clearance to you see perfect for a 150 gy6?

  • @The12Nurse I didnt find my wrench so I had to use adjustable !

You can check that clearance in your manual.

  • @447za thats ok I understand why you used it. I dont have a manual but i had an idea that a .0025 clearance can give optimum result...

  • @The12Nurse Have you tried to Google that what would be the clearance of that ?

  • @447za no I haven't done that but check out this dudes video "gy6 valve adjustment" by "mattyoung17754" I haven't tried to set my gy6 to this setting but maybe sometime this weekend I might able to try this settings..hey what do you think is the best weight combination for the variator rollers for a 150 gy6?

  • mate . intake is 0.15 for honda chaly . and exhaust 0.20 i think.. i have question where does i adjusting when is top dead center or down. thanks mate i find my ansewer very good video, thankx

  • Mega ,really good and clear thankyou sir!!

  • i have 49cc garelli tiesse four stroke 2000 km, adjust the gap twice. 0,5 mm and 0.3mm.but there's still a rattling sound from engine.help plss.

  • @mahalkohhhh maybe your head need to replace vavle . or the time chain need to see if is good condition , piston maybe hit to the top of the head if is high compression piston. is too much you can find. make a video if you want and maybe understand. sorry for my bad language too sir

  • great vid. im keen to do my own work on my scoot and videos like yours help so much. thanks!

  • what that for is a carburetor??

where do you get it from??

    mail back :)

  • Do you mean "powerfilter" ??

I got it from scooter-attack (dot) com

  • this helped big time!! ty =))

  • can you do a video on the timing that's what i really need to know how to do...incase i have to replace my piston because it seems to be losing power some.

  • The item used there is a set of feeler gauges. A ring spanner is preferable for the tappet locking nut as it can be worked through until you get the correct clearance. Some machines are set with the engine hot but most are set cold. Adhere to the manufacturers unstructions here. The feeler gauge should be a positive sliding fit and not take the next feeler up. Proper spanners will help, they are cheap enough at your local market. Good video on the whole. Regards from a Rolls Royce engineeer.

  • You gotta point there, Im studing to being good car engineer :)

And its hard to make video in english because its not my actual language, but I have tried.

  • My apology for not taking into account your location in the world and the language barrier. I thought a few extra pointers might help your video which is instructional and clear. I'd hate to work on modern car engines, they are just too complicated. Regards and the very best of luck with your studies. Steve

  • Yah mee too, and there is so much electric stuff included, now days its better look malfunctions > OBD .

  • Yes. Stick it on a pc and then find which little black box has a problem, then replace it with another little black box. Money to be made in making little black boxes. ; ) Have a good holiday. Steve

  • Yep, We dont put stick it into pc we have like little PDA but same idea as pc...

    Have a good holiday too.

  • wow thx u, it was rly intristing ! 5/5
