@reeceTHEmelter123 hey i am new to pc gaming and i don't understand what's de diff between hd5850 and hd 4850 and why is the the hd 5750 more expensive then this card while there perfo0rmans are ecualy????
@gregoryjjasadirana94 to know the difference, 5 series are the new generation of ati cards where the 4 series are the last generation, that explains pricing, pricing does not determine by performance as much as by demand. also, 4 series does not support directx 11 which 5 series does. the 5750 is not design to be replacement of 4850, they are marketed to replace the 4750, so if u think of it that way, it's a huge performance increase, and it's price have to do with demand.
I was going to get a Radeon HD 4850 today along with more RAM, but it says that the Radeon needs at least 450 Watts to run, my computer is running at 300 Watts MAX, so that means I cant use it in my PC right? please reply or send me a message
that doesn't mean u can't use but it does mean that it's likely to push ur psu to max load all the time, which is not a good thing to overload power supply all the time,
The Watts are always a little higher then what they actually need, to give it some margin. However, 300 - the needs of your other hardware is a little low. It probably will run, but only at X% of it's power.
Anyway, PSU's aren't that expensive. If you have the money to buy this card you can probably afford a better PSU.
what was the rest of the system? i'm curious, i have a phenom 9950 oc'd to 3.0ghz with 4gb ddr2-1066 on a 22in lcd i'll be running at 1680x1050. looking to get two xfx 4850 xxx editions. the game play looked smooth as hell. i currently have a gtx 260 core 216 and can play on VH dx10 with very playable fps but i was looking to build a new i7/nvidia set up and going to xfire on the phenom looking for any info on the 4850's. thx
I have widows xp and the new card i might get would be the HD4870. I'm wondering if the graphics card installed DirectX10.1, would my pc be able to handle it?
I would like to have HD 4850, but my friends has 9600GT, and he says it's great, and it runs nearly every game at max. settings. Little help if anyone has experience of those 2 cards, plz?
Budget is under 200 Euros (1 Canadian dollar is 0.63 euros) So it would be like 320 Canadian dollars or something like that . But i think i will buy radeon.
i have the same video card, but i have average of 12 fps, (amd dual core 5600+, 4 giga ram 800 mhz vista ulrimate 64 sp1, driver ati 8.12, but i have psu atx 550 w and 20 ampere on 12 v rail, i think the problem is ampere, because hardware and software are good? what psu u have? what ampere u have on 12v rail?
NZXT PS-NT-PP600-R 600W ATX / BTX SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Power Supply is 70 dollars. And that is good psu! you can find it from newegg.
RAIDMAX AURORA 2 RX-600F 600W ATX12V V2.2 / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready LED Power Supply is about 60 dollars and it is good and cheap. And you can find it too from newegg
the computer im getting the processor is a intel 2 core duo 3.00GHz e8400 and im not comparing it to anything i just felt like saying it to let ya know. but yes nice video 5/5
i advise getting two powercolor 4850 pcs extreme edition's in crossfirex config as the gpus but if you have enough get a good quad core thats i want a good quad =D
You are doing a great mistake! Don´t save on PSU. If you buy low quality psu it is more sure, that you will break your whole computer. It is advisible to buy OCZ, Corsair, Enermax, Zalman or Antec´s psu. They are high quality products. And if you have money, buy Corsair HX520. That is modular. So that means that you can remove all wiring that you don´t need and wires will not mess up and you have better air circulation= Lower temperature.
Like I said I am only 13 though money is not really around me that much just now, but i need a power supply capable of powering the above components for about £40 so do you have any reccomendations?
HD4500?? can u tell me a little more about it? possibly a 4550? (didn't know they came out) and what memory does it use, if it's 4500 seires, it should be the budget market gpu, which will nto do so good with crysis at all. but on lower settings will do better.
what kind of cpu are you using? i got 33.15 fps @ 1280x1024 with everything on high and 22.26 fps @ 1280x1024 with everything on very high, using a club3d hd4850 and a 3ghz core 2 duo
Ey Wats up!? Thanks again for last times (hd2600xt) recommendation. I need ya help once again, I'm thinking about getting this card over a 9800gtx or a 8800gt-SLI. What in your opinion is the better choice and best for the money? Thanks
P.s: is this card really really smooth in crysis in your opinion?
Well i'm not really dedicated to crysis, i'm focusing more on a solution for future purposes. This is my rig's setup : q6600, 780i 3-way sli 2gig ram. that's all the important stuff. Thanks for the help.
P.s: 8800gt =120$ 9800=184$ and 4850=184$ what's the better choice?
well ownagenewb111, I must say that you're right about the fact that a 4870 is better than 2 8800gt in SLI but, not by far !
I've seen some benchmark with Crysis, resolution 1680x1050, all high, the average frame per seconds for the 4870 was 46, and for the 8800 gt in SLI it was 41 so...
But the best choice on the market, in my opinion, is the 4850 because it's a small videocard, who don't need a big power supply (450 watts is enough), and have the best price/performance on the market today.
400w not good man, get 550w to be safe and make sure u get brand name stuff. i know it costs, but i have learned that u really need it if u don't want anything to fail
you caoul say what power supply you have first... if it's quality brand power supply it will run it ... that system doesn't consume to much .. i'd say about 300w in full load depending on what else you have in your system ( fans etc. ) ... The power supply has to have good amperage on the 12V rail
why pushing a power supply to it's edge, leave some headroom for the safe operation condition, only reason people recommend brandname psus are really because of they have less chance of failing in comparison, it doesn't make the brand name won't fail, but there's no real way to test these things without breaking the warranty, therefore, reputation becoming one of the only few way to tell if a power supply's good for something or not
well first you not pushing the power supply to it's edge 100w it's enough headroom .... 2) you know why you need a quality power supply? ... because no-name power supply's may be rated at 400 w let's say but they don't put out more than 200-250 .. and they have very low efficiency and low 12v amperage that's why you need a quality power supply ....
Trubritar has a video in which he shows how much his systems consumes in full load .. his system which consists of 3 gtx 280 . one qx9770 . a case full of fans . wattercooling .. and the other things he has only consumes 750w in full load
i dont' think he have much chance to have 300w on 12v, just check hardware canuck's review on 4850 the power consumption is 160w idle and 243w on load, which it compare to GTX280 as well which single GTX280 it says 361w on load
because you need good amperage and and for good amperage you need a big power supply ... trust me i know a bit about power supply's ...2) most small power supplies have 2-4 12v rails which isn't really recommended .. i mean it offers more stability but thats all ... nowdays power supplies that use onely one 12v rail that offer plenty of amperage are large power supply's
actually, it is very specific, many quality psus are purposely make multirail, and no-name psus are generally single rail from 15- 18amps nowadays(tho duals are common as well)
that would only give no more then 250W on 12v rail tho, wouldn't it be nicer if we suggest a decent but inexpensive 550-650 PSU? also i'm carious, ok, hes comptuer spec seen quiet fine, what kind of CPU connector does that intel required, i mean my 790FX board for amd needs an additional 8pin, and a 6pin for the 4850, does these old 400w have these things in it?
well i have a fortron blue storm II 500w power supply which gives me 480w on the 12v rail ... the fortron blue storm II 400w gives a maximum of 380w on the 12v rail ... if he already has a quality 400w power supply he doesn't need a new one
i have an "Atrix 650t" its dual rail (12.5v) adjustable fan speed, runs very cool and quiet. Hard blue top with clear plastic all the rest of the way around. It looks the buiness and do's the job brilliantly
x4 9850
4850
4 gig 800mhz
2 dvdrw
2 250 gig wd
1 wd rapter 74gig
x-fi sound card
akasa evo blue heat sink and fan
runs everything without a problem and i have a g25 pluged into it along with a 360 game pad, and it only cost £38 english
well I had 2900XT running on a 500w DEER b4 as well, which the psu was pretty hot lol, changed it in 2 weeks (was lack of money) but it runs fine, but will it last
u know what, we need to wait til him to reply, cause if he does have the budget, there's no reason to stay 400w and do allthese calculations, what if he want to try multi video cards and such
How do you like my computer parts? I think I just put together a pretty good mix, inexpensive parts, low Wattages, and high performance and I can overclock the intel e8500 to 3.5ghz with just the stock fan.
$185 3.16ghz, 6mb cache, 1333FSB intel E8500 65W; $169.99 ATI 4850 110W; $83.98 2GB 1333 DDR3 1.5volt; $93.88 MSI p35 combo; $50 250GB sata, $40 case 450 or 500W, $30 dvd-rw. Can you test a system similar to this with vista 64bit?
Your result are strange because ive got a hd 4850 with catalyst 8.7 and ive got on very high res 1280 1024 25 fps average and on high details dx10 42 fps.
Than what card? THe card I mentioned is currently $160-180 whereas the 4850 is $180-200. I have a gtx 280 and waterblobk coming soon, so I could care less.
=)) that's the stupidest comment .... the 4870 is as fast if not faster than the 3870x2 which is faster than 2 3870 in crossfire ... and it has the advantage of being a single gpu card

I cannot decide between these two cards:
Shapphire ATI Radeon HD4850, 512MB, HDMI, S-VIDEO, CrossFire, GPU @ 625MHz, Clock speed (memory): 1986MHz ( 2 x 993MHz ),RAMDAC: 2x400MHz,
Asus GeForce 9600GT, 1024MB, DDR3, HDMI, GPU @ 650MHz, Clock speed (memory): 1800Mhz (2x 900Mhz), RAMDAC: 400MHz,
I would like to have HD 4850, but my friends has 9600GT, and he says it's great, and it runs nearly every game at max. settings. Little help if anyone has experience of those 2 cards, plz?

I found only 1 card under my budget with GDDR4, and its sold out now.
but no card with gddr5. I found 2 gddr5 cards 60 euros over my budget and they are:
Radeon HD 4870 OC, 512MB GPU: 780MHz,
clock speed (memory): 4000MHz, GDDR5, RAMDAC: 2x400MHZ (a lot of better)
and
Radeon HD 4870, 512MB, GPU: 750MHz, Clock speed (memory): 3600Mhz,
RAMDAC: 2x400MHZ

Tazmainianjp, definatly 2X 8800 GT in SLI for the performance... who mean :
120$ X 2 = 240$
And for 240$ you will have the same performance of videocard like the Ati 4870, or you will be pretty close to, for 100$ less...
Just be careful to have a decent power supply... I think 600watts or over will be enough for 2 8800 GT in SLI...
Have fun ! But don't loose your life in front of a pc !
Take care, God bless !
Authenticiter 3 years ago
An ATi 4870 is better than 2 8800gt's...
If you can afford it, get a 4870x2
But if you're looking for a cheaper option, get 2 4850's.
And don't get the 9800 unless you're going to overclock it.
Upgrade to 4gb ram if you feel like it. The q6600 is good, especially if you overclock them to 3.3gz
Hope that helps.
ownagenewb111 3 years ago
well ownagenewb111, I must say that you're right about the fact that a 4870 is better than 2 8800gt in SLI but, not by far !
Authenticiter 3 years ago
lol i got 34 fps average on the second loop and 30 on the first on the same settings as the video but on 1680x1050

Hi
I want to build something like this :
C2D e8400 or e8200
HD 4850
320HDD
2gb ddr2 ocz
DVD-RW
will 400W mode com run it ? Because I've already bought it and i don't want to explode ...
Barret15 3 years ago
Most important thing for me is hd4850 ...
Barret15 3 years ago
it will turn it on but its a big risk man
derderfan56 3 years ago
400w not good man, get 550w to be safe and make sure u get brand name stuff. i know it costs, but i have learned that u really need it if u don't want anything to fail
tricccple 3 years ago
you caoul say what power supply you have first... if it's quality brand power supply it will run it ... that system doesn't consume to much .. i'd say about 300w in full load depending on what else you have in your system ( fans etc. ) ... The power supply has to have good amperage on the 12V rail
ABC10090 3 years ago
why pushing a power supply to it's edge, leave some headroom for the safe operation condition, only reason people recommend brandname psus are really because of they have less chance of failing in comparison, it doesn't make the brand name won't fail, but there's no real way to test these things without breaking the warranty, therefore, reputation becoming one of the only few way to tell if a power supply's good for something or not
tricccple 3 years ago
well first you not pushing the power supply to it's edge 100w it's enough headroom .... 2) you know why you need a quality power supply? ... because no-name power supply's may be rated at 400 w let's say but they don't put out more than 200-250 .. and they have very low efficiency and low 12v amperage that's why you need a quality power supply ....
ABC10090 3 years ago
are u sure 4850 use that little power?
anyways I hope Barret15 tell us what PSU he have right now
tricccple 3 years ago
Trubritar has a video in which he shows how much his systems consumes in full load .. his system which consists of 3 gtx 280 . one qx9770 . a case full of fans . wattercooling .. and the other things he has only consumes 750w in full load
ABC10090 3 years ago
i dont' think he have much chance to have 300w on 12v, just check hardware canuck's review on 4850 the power consumption is 160w idle and 243w on load, which it compare to GTX280 as well which single GTX280 it says 361w on load
tricccple 3 years ago
that is the consumption of the entire system not just the video card
ABC10090 3 years ago
if that 's the case why would anyone need 500+ watt power supply.. but oh well not here to fight
tricccple 3 years ago
because you need good amperage and and for good amperage you need a big power supply ... trust me i know a bit about power supply's ...2) most small power supplies have 2-4 12v rails which isn't really recommended .. i mean it offers more stability but thats all ... nowdays power supplies that use onely one 12v rail that offer plenty of amperage are large power supply's
ABC10090 3 years ago
actually, it is very specific, many quality psus are purposely make multirail, and no-name psus are generally single rail from 15- 18amps nowadays(tho duals are common as well)
tricccple 3 years ago
15a-18 thats very low i was reffering to at least 40-50A
ABC10090 3 years ago 2
and that's out of a 500w, I can imagine 350 - 400w psus if it's no name will probably only give about 12a,
tricccple 3 years ago
a good 400w psu gives 1-2A less than a 500w one ...
ABC10090 3 years ago
that would only give no more then 250W on 12v rail tho, wouldn't it be nicer if we suggest a decent but inexpensive 550-650 PSU? also i'm carious, ok, hes comptuer spec seen quiet fine, what kind of CPU connector does that intel required, i mean my 790FX board for amd needs an additional 8pin, and a 6pin for the 4850, does these old 400w have these things in it?
tricccple 3 years ago
well i have a fortron blue storm II 500w power supply which gives me 480w on the 12v rail ... the fortron blue storm II 400w gives a maximum of 380w on the 12v rail ... if he already has a quality 400w power supply he doesn't need a new one
ABC10090 3 years ago
yup (since u mentioned, I'm using Corsair VX550W, it's not bad for the price)
tricccple 3 years ago
i have an "Atrix 650t" its dual rail (12.5v) adjustable fan speed, runs very cool and quiet. Hard blue top with clear plastic all the rest of the way around. It looks the buiness and do's the job brilliantly

i have seen a system with a 8800gtx powered by an antec earthwatts 380w without crash ...
ABC10090 3 years ago
well I had 2900XT running on a 500w DEER b4 as well, which the psu was pretty hot lol, changed it in 2 weeks (was lack of money) but it runs fine, but will it last
u know what, we need to wait til him to reply, cause if he does have the budget, there's no reason to stay 400w and do allthese calculations, what if he want to try multi video cards and such

xp for the win bro!you have a nice system and vista spoils it!

How do you like my computer parts? I think I just put together a pretty good mix, inexpensive parts, low Wattages, and high performance and I can overclock the intel e8500 to 3.5ghz with just the stock fan.

Your result are strange because ive got a hd 4850 with catalyst 8.7 and ive got on very high res 1280 1024 25 fps average and on high details dx10 42 fps.

at the time of benchmark it was with 8.6 driver, would u think that made the difference?

My 8800gt 1gb sonic does about 4fps better at stock and is $20 cheaper right now.

Its not better
and here the HD4850 is 100$ cheaper then this card
ImGodUFUCK 3 years ago
Than what card? THe card I mentioned is currently $160-180 whereas the 4850 is $180-200. I have a gtx 280 and waterblobk coming soon, so I could care less.

how come theres such a big difference between dx9 high and dx10 high .... i've seen a couple of tests but the difference was only 3-5 fps ...
ABC10090 3 years ago
u know, i really dunno why it is like that, never have luck with cryfail lol
tricccple 3 years ago
=)) that's the stupidest comment .... the 4870 is as fast if not faster than the 3870x2 which is faster than 2 3870 in crossfire ... and it has the advantage of being a single gpu card
ABC10090 3 years ago
8800 gt vs 4850?? ahahah the 4850 is more fast at 9800gtx in all games and more more more more fast than 8800 series.
petunio87 3 years ago
omg... dont say thing that u don't know! a 9800 gtx in the same test at 1280x1024 scores 24 fps, not 19!!!

thats not right, my 8800gt which isnt as good does better.

no no , 8800GT is meant to be better, in fact all nvidia higher end WIll do better then ati on crysis,
