You the man, Plumberx! I'm about to tackle my first toilet replacement and I don't know what to expect when I take it off. It rocks A LOT and the flooring is wood though a thin plastic kind of a tile is laid on top. My father passed away this month on October 1st, 2011 so I want to do this for my mother. So, here's my question, why don't every plumber use this type of flange? And will I have to buy a wax seal with this flange?
@youreadork This flange don't work for every toilet repair or replacement. You can check out these videos here, and see the different types and pick the one that best works for you. ( Toilet Repair floor under toilet p2 )
( Toilet Flange PVC replacement Trick ) and of course this video. and yes you will need a new was ring every time you replace a toilet, I really hope these videos will help you and I know your dad would be very proud of you helping your Mom .God Bless you
Hi Plumberx, I just removed the toilet today and discovered the ground is worse than I could have imagined. It looks like around the flange there's a big opening leading down to the house base (not basement if you know what I mean). The floor looks to be wood and corroded. The vinyl tiles (just remembered that's what they are) are warped and what kept the toilet from sinking in...sorta. Anyhow, any chance I could get your email and send you pics to help me out PLZ?!!!
@MyWeeklyChallenge I've been finding them at The Home Depot. You can also find it at a plumbers supply house. I havin't had a problem finding it here in Houston The Home Depot. Good Luck
@gilbertrr Yes most of them are. Not unless it is a wall mount toilet. And some TOTO toilets come with and adapter to match up with toilet flang for there toilets. More of the high end on TOTO. Thanks for stopping by
I am replacing a toilet that looks like it was installed in the 1960's will I be able to use a repair flang? It looks like the drain pipe is iron. The toilet has 4 bolts hooking it to the floor I am scared to take the toilet out.
If I buy a hot/cold water stem, it should work for the left and right handles right?
I replaced both of my stems, and the handles are going in the same directions when I turn it on or turn it off. How do I make them go in the opposite directions.
The hot/cold stem(bathroom faucet) which is made by Danco and its specs are 3h-10h/c.

Once you install the toilet flange make sure you screw it down to the floor or anker if need be.

Any suggest?

I like those things when dealing with a lead bend or cast iron. But as an extra measure it would be a good idea to secure to the floor as well.
