  • i came from asdf2 (pony)

  • Frank Zappa one of the greatests minds in music, rip :) and there are no arguments :D

  • Sarcasm

  • The music to this song was written by Zappa in 1961!!!!!!!!!!!!

Talk about a head of his time.

  • deedledeedledee

  • weird, but good.

  • this is the very first album i ever bought in 68 and i still love it

  • I have the remastered version of this album on CD. I can see why Frank decided to remaster it. For some reason the recording of this album sounds terrible.

  • sounds like ringo at the drums

  • LOVE. the album cover. lol.

  • this song puts me in a good mood. I'm pretty sure FZ is making fun of hippies, but the lyrics retain a positive image in my mind.

  • @fridun007 I wish to think so, but somehow I'm not sure :)

  • @vinzer72frie it was recorded before but issues happend

  • @vinzer72frie actually made before

  • @solidcrash232 Yeah, I there are 3 versions of the song. Another one on the Lost Episodes.

  • the definitive hippy satire.

  • It is Jimmy Carl Black, the late Jimmy Carl Black. Show some respect.

    Punk.

  • @GlenSpCO oh, piss off. it's a youtube comment, not a letter to the man himself. note that each letter of my comment is lower-cased; i meant no disrespect.and as for the misspelling, i am so very sorry. i don't know how i can live with myself now

  • @vinzer72frie We're only in it for the money is phase 1 of lumpy gravy.

  • when she's tired, our beagle mod a go-go stretch elastic pants...

  • without a doubt, this song should be co-opted by american politicians for their 2012 campaigns regardless of orientation.

  • @geekorthodox9 I'd vote for the guy in the OTHER party if they had this as their song.

  • I had a pair of mod-a-go-go stretch elastic pants!!!!

  • @whoadude1959 I had to google that one

  • @DimensionsofChange

LOL...you kinda just had to be there....

did your google search answer your question?

My mod a go go stretch elastic pants were red....LOL!

    Thanks, Cindy/ Columbus Ohio

  • @whoadude1959 Yeah, but I'm confused on the whole order of things. I thought Mods were a Disco thing.

  • @DimensionsofChange

"Mod" or "Mods" was a youth sub-culture beginning in London in the early 60"s, out of same came "Go-Go" and "Groovy" etc (the Austin Power's stuff) then out of that came Disco (Saturday Night Fever). In America we started seeing Disco in the early 70's. There is about a decade between the two. Speaking from experience, I was mod and groovy from about 65-71 then from 72-78 I was Disco. Hope that helps. Cindy :)

  • @whoadude1959 So then Mods and hippies overlapped?

  • @DimensionsofChange

Mods and Hippies were emerging at the same time, Mods were more middle class while Hippies were more anti-establishment, very fine line between the two and sometimes no line at all.

  • Here's one I can't find anywhere-- I heard it in the 90's on somebody else's collecftion--it was a really cute little thing where the band had to pledge not to reveal their weenies on stage. Does that ring a bell with anyone? Can't even remember the wortds except for "everywhere. . .everywhere" and how the band changes from reluctant mumblers to energetic firm voices when Frank throws a bit of put-down into it. I need to hear it! Help!

  • @grandmachristine42 You mean the M.O.I anti-smut loyalty oath?? From the album You cant do that on stage anymore vol.6? recorded in 1970?

  • My favourite parts are when the backing vocal repeats: DANCE AND LOVE and RISE ABOVE

  • @TheNEWfilmfanatic99 me too! rise above!

  • deedledeedle dee deedledeedle dee

  • @vinzer72frie nuh uh

  • I drank a quart of beer just before that.

  • Ahh this song reminds me of high school <3

  • Who cares if you're so poor you can't afford to buy a pair of Mod-a-Go-Go stretch elastic pants!

  • @vinzer72frie maked?

  • Now IS THE TIME when I am not ashamed when I'm FAT!

  • i tried figuring out the chord progression to this by ear, and i got Em, F#m, Em, F#m, Gm, Dmaj, Bm, Em, Dmaj... then back to the beginning. awesome tune :) this is a song where frank has used a simple chord progression which is nice to see since we all know he can make very complicated structures of some sort. I hope my info helped you people out there. FZ R.I.P

  • I have this on CD and it is doubled with Lumpy Gravy 1 and 2. But the songs sound way different. Are these songs taken from the original recordings?

  • @floridacomedyfan The twofer CD has remixes of those two albums, with re-recorded drum and bass parts, and added digital reverb.

The remastered versions of those albums from 1995 has the original stereo mixes.

  • Masterrr

  • OH Frank your'e a God

  • The time is NOW!

  • @solidcrash232 ahah, yes that's what I thought too. It sounds great in lumpy gravy isn't it ? this song is just AWESOME

  • @vinzer72frie The version on Lumpy Gravy was the original. It was recorded prior to the release of Freak Out (acording to wiki 1961, but I've read other places that say 1962), yet that version was not included on any Zappa album until Lumpy Gravy.

  • How prophetic it turned out to be!

  • does anybody know the name of the zappa song that includes the line "do you think that my pants are too tight , do you think that im creepy"?

  • @marydilk "Mother People" from this album too

  • @marydilk the next one after What's The Ugliest Part of Your Body...

    Mother People

  • @marydilk Vinzer speaks the truth.

  • @marydilk That song is "Mother People".

  • @marydilk that's one of the best lines ever, i love how he sings it there!

  • @marydilk Als ik het goed heb begint het zo: "We are the other people (3x) You're the other people too! Found a way to get to you...

En: "Do you think that I'm lonely, stupid and blind? / Do you think that I dream through the night / of holding you near me?"...etc?

  • I am no longer ashamed that I am fat.

  • The lyrics to this 1968 song proved prophetic as time went on.

  • god i see god!

  • @definemaybe that's davy jones from the monkees...........
