Fantastic! Funny the piano player wants to speed this beautiful ballad up, then messes up on the 1/2 step turnarounds Wes just showed him, guess he 's never had a broken heart! Nice to hear Wes's speaking voice, a true genius. Thanks for posting this, eight million stars!!!!
@zinwah I should apologize for not choosing better words than I did. There was obviously nothing wrong with his technique even though it might have been different. And this is a great tune by him and this group.
The focus is rightly on Wes, but as others have said, this is a very fine band. How about the great Han Benink, grand daddy of avant garde european drumming showing his greatness at a young age.
Way cool. I tried to find this one on iTunes to download. No luck. I'm not big on homemade guitar technique, but you have to give it to Wes. He's special.
He was .. no words

Wes was such a cool cat. Shame we lost him so early, but I am thankful that gems like this have been left behind for us to enjoy.
Also the other players are top flight. They look like they're having the time of their lives. Love it.
Great stuff, available on the Jazz Icons series of dvds.

I love this. I started listening to Wes in about '67 and I'm still amazed at his playing.

Awesome stuff, especially if you see the rehearsal vid that precedes this.
Wes lights up during the drum solo... very cool.
Very fatal.
Killed him.
