Some Pharoahs explored an ancient route to the south-west. A German traces it further into central Africa and believes the Pharoahs came from there, maybe Chad or Central African Republic or even further and conquered an older Egyptian culture
The oldest Egyptians were Ethiopian people. They inhabited the upper Nile region all the way to Ethiopia, for many centuries. They were the kingdoms of Egyptians and were the builders of the Sphinx, and the smaller pyramids in Egypt. Smaller pyramids can also be found today, in Ethiopia.
Ethiopians left Egypt, after being invaded by Arabs, and other Middle Eastern tribes. (These Arabs and Middle Eastern people make up the Egyptian people that we see today. )
@jnookdacrook The Ethiopians invaded Egypt, they weren't Egyptians. The Nubians had more to do with Egypt than the Ethiopians ever did. Check out the The Nubian Pyramids of Sudan on Wikipedia
Im getting a degree in archeology because of this man! I hope to learn arabic and continue the exciting finds Dr. Zawass and other experts of ancient civilization are uncovering.
I like Zahi, he's a funny guy, but unfortunately he keeps a lot of discoveries back, like the full DNA of Tut, which probably would rubberstamp his European/Caucasian heritage.
I recently watched a show on the history channel with Hawass leading fellow arachaeologist and I have to say he does have a great passion for what he does. However, this he is the most arrogant and domineering person I have ever seen. I understand that he is one of the leaders of Egyptology and should be highly respected, but that's no right to act as an asshole
Is there ANYONE on this planet who's more close-minded, opinionated, and "it's my way or the highway" outspoken? This guy comes up with these "THEORIES", and automatically assumes that they're fact, without ANY proof whatsoever. He finds a couple mummies next to the pyramid and says, "Hey, these guys have to be the ones who built the Great Pyramid". Hmmmmm, interesting. Show me some proof before. Too bad we don't have someone with more of an open mind. I'll never buy into anything he says.
I only have one basic disagreement with the Doctor. I don't think the Egyptians who built the pyramids are not the same ones of today. I lived in Egypt for a year. For one, they did not speak Arabic, they had an entirely different language system. Just like the mexicans of today are not the same people the Aztecs were, same basis. Now when you look e.g. at the Greeks, they are the same people, same language and culture.
ALMOST all people tend to agree with you. I for one do as well. The egyptians of ancient egypt are long gone, the egyptians are today are a mixture of Arabs and indigenous north africans.
@fjm1061 Dr hawass is not a ancient egyptians. He is neither related to any of them. He is a descendant of mamluks. They were foreigners or some say they were turkish slaves. But he have no connection to ancient egyptians. He is just a person that born in egypt like so many others foreigners. If you watch the video, stop it at 1:08 and you will see clearly what the ancient look like. Dark brown skin people that came up out of the nile valley in modern day sudan.
@fjm1061 but greece was very isolated for many of the middle ages. Countries like Egypt who were conquered by muslims during 11th century were centers for knowledge and travel, so in like turkey which is full of turks they are originaly from central asia, the mamluks who went to egypt are also are turkish tribe, people were moved around a lot during those times and even into ottoman times their empire was so big that people moved to places you wouldnt expect to find them.
I love this guy so much- why isn't he shown in every school on the planet- it could only help mankind- what passion - which is what most middle school kids I know need terribly- passion about something that matters instead of the junk we seem to teach them nowadays... bless Dr. Hawass for 20,000 Kalpas.
@sitarnut my school libraian is obsessed with him. when she went to Egypt they were talking about him and he walked up to them in a restaurant and told them stuff and gave them a note to go anywhere.
I really like this man. He is an Egyptian, descended from the Ancient Egyptians and he loves his country. And we need him. There are so many hilarious videos from Egyptian wannabes who have never even been to Egypt, one could lose one's sanity.
Does anyone know why it has takenn so long to explore the "door" found in one of the shafts leading out (or in) to the 'Queen's" Chamber? Furthermore, does anyone know more about the three mysterious artifacts that were found in the shafts when they were first opened? Has the wooded rod been found?
yes, that was the Pyramid of (King) Zoser in Saqqara, designed by Imhotep (the first known architect in written history and one of the greatest) built in the 27th century BC.
Mr. Hawass could keep on the look out for any Celtic things. there were Celtic mercenaries in Egypt. Celts also fought in Hannibal Barcas armies! And Celts were at Cannae!! they did a fine job that day! :)
I'm very excited about these discoveries, I can't wait to hear more! I've been an Egypt fanatic since I was a kid ever since I watched a special Dr. Hawass was in. He's awesome and I believe his excitement and love for Egypt and archeology is what makes it even more fascinating.
At 0:57 you speak of thieves who are digging. We have many thieves here digging in San Diego/Mexico where I live. Do you have an archaeologists who can come here and explore the many tunnels under our border? Each is pre-lit for you, equipped with restrooms, plumbing, and even a roach coach that comes by every day to them. You never know what treasures you might find in these deep tunnels. That is. if the drug lords, terrorists, and weapons smugglers will allow you to excavate. Great video!
Klasse! So nah dran an den Aktivitäten von Zahi Hawass ist mit diesem Video echt gelungen. Vieles wird somit noch besser nachvollziehbar, was Ausgrabungen vor Ort anbelangt. Und so zeitnah, das ist toll.

Start at 2:55. How far will the Egyptians let us investigate the ruins? It is possible that they are hiding something. Hawass is mentioned.

Dr. Hawass has been accused of being something of a showman, but you can't deny that he LOVES EGYPT & archeology, & everything about it.
He regards mummies as individuals, people who walked the earth like you & I did, & not merely bags of dried tissue & bones wrapped in bandages.
