it's a promo for all of the world, it has several cities and countries around the globe with same song, singers sing the same thing for that city, state, or country..
I am originally from Birmingham, AL and must say that it is the best city I have ever lived in. By the way this video was taken probably around 1985-86 because, in one of the scenes, you can see the construction of the Riverchase Galleria which opened in 1986.
I believe that was a commercial from the 1980's. I grew up with WBRC in the 1990's and I think that was Scott Richards in that commercial who is still on WBRC and has been almost his entire career. He and Janet Hall are great together.
I live in Alabama and it just as neato as this video. Plus, it's home to Gomer Pyle and Truman Capote and lots of other famous gays. Many American Idols are from here too, but I won't mention them because they are not the one that rhymes with Gay Bacon. I like homosexuals and that is why I enjoy living in Alabama. All that stuff about the redneck racists, it's not true. Big-guts, yes, but bigots? No! I love it here and so does my cross-dressing brother. Roll Tide!
I've lived in many places, but Alabama is home to me.
There's no place like it on earth, and if other people don't see how great it is, I'm o.k. with that. Alabama is the kind of place that once you move here, you never want to leave. There's no other place like it.
This is just a PR campaign for Alabama. I am sure there are some places that are nice. I am also sure they have their share of dumpy areas like everyplace else.
Alabama is awesome! I live in alabama and its just like..yess i live in alabama. hahaa =)) no but i sincerely like alabama. although..i dont really like this video ..it doesnt really... i dunno.. click with me..and seeing as how i live in alabama..i think it should. hahaha
Well it was definitely a PR campaign for Alabama. They really sogarcoated it. There was a similar song jingle campaign titled, "Western Massachusetts is Great!" It isn't but hey they needed a PR campaign, too. All commercialized PR!

Joe Langston pitching horseshoes, Country Boy Eddy playing fiddle on the mountaintop ... beautiful! I have only a vague memory of this piece, typical channel 6 - familiar faces, down-home style but with a high degree of professionalism.
This was produced around 1986, back when Joe L. was the station's main news anchor, Eddy had the predawn music show, Tom York came on afterward, and all was right in Birmingham. You had to have been there to appreciate it.
i believe its the same jingle. could that have been made by ABC and could there be other versions aired by other ABC stations? (as at the time WBRC was affiliated with ABC)
@cwf1701 This promo was actually made by Frank Gari... He is the mastermind behind the "Stand Up..." and the "Turn to..." campaigns. The majority of these were on ABC stations, but there are some NBC & FOX stations in there as well... search "WKYC/Turn to 3" and "KCBA 35 Turn To"... those are NBC and FOX, respectively.
Yo, what's wrong with the state we got?! It lives pretty good, don't it?
