Like I said earlier I love Neil & the Boss, but they didn't do this justice. Dylan wrote and performed this first, but Jimi owns it. The only two covers of it beside Jimi that I think have merit are DMB, and the ONLY one that stands alongside Jimi's version is Dave Mason's rendtition. @seanie40 The only reason I never could embrace his version is the lack of a lead. that song needs it. Replacing the lead with an organ & a brief weak acoustic "lead" killed it for me. I love his voice, the backup vocals, the overall sound (even the organ as a backdrop is great) but it just doesn't do what that song must - rock and roll. Love his voice though no doubt and most of his music.

As much as Iike Neil & Boss, no one can cover this song. Not even Dylan and it was his song lol! Seriously, Jimi owns this song. No one even comes close and I've heard every cover of it out there. The only one that comes close to being great but in a totally different genre was Dave Masons cover.
