Patenting a Podcast is pretty much for those who are podcasting about a copyrighted ideal, or product. For instance, podcasting about World of Warcraft would most likely be illegal if this patent is successfully passed. Most podcasters haven't gotten permission to talk about WoW, nor gotten permission to use effects, samples, etc in it.
If this patent is passed then podcasters that haven't gotten permission to use things, would have to now...
If you've followed the Linux culture for the past few years you would already know that the Patent Office is way out of control and filled with people that dont have a clue about new media or computer/internet technologies.
They essentially rubber stamp everything 1st come-1st serve , then let lawyers sort it out,
