True...straight/bi guys almost never describe themselves as "masculine" in ads looking for sex or dates but gay guys use that word like it's the ultimate weapon. Some gay guys *only* look for masculine men, which in my mind is merely a form of self-hating (like many Asian-Americans who declare that they would never touch other Asians).

Accept yourself..if someone judges you based on your "butchness", he's not worth a penny to begin with.

I'm gay because I like... >>>MEN<<<. None of this woman garbage. I'll take a man over a woman any day. Not by choice, but because that's what my brain tells me I like. And for anyone thinking "Ohhh Berner's just confused and there's still hope 'cause he's all butch and masculine", I'm sorry but you can go fuck yourself if you think being gay means you have to be all affeminant and prissy. I've told guys that I'm gay and their brains almost exploded and they're still in disbelief to this day.

I just watched this movie and while it poses questions it gave dissatisfying answers. Masculinity has had certain characteristics throughout history--and before, if one looks at primitve peoples. It seemed sometimes like the film was trying to make the "nellie" guys feel good about themselves.

LOL I don't think butch is "a form of drag". I could no sooner act very fem. all day long than someone who is fem. could act butch. I think there should be a balance between masc. and fem. Ying and yang. When that balance is thrown off, then yes I think you're right, it becomes a drag show. This doc. looks real interesting from an anthropological point-of-view. I want to see it. xD
