It's funny I've never heard that definition of love before. Basically there are three types of love- 1.Eros love - known as "erotic love". (Sounds like that might be the type you are refering to) 2. Philos love - a love based on friendship between two people. and 3. Agape - unconditional love wich is the type of love that I am refering to.
Listen to yourself. Is this what self awarness and self realization and self forgiveness has led you to? You have it backwards. Love brings about equality, honesty, forgiveness and every other good thing that we know.
To put another before ones own selfish desires is an act of love. Bilions of people have been fed in this world because someone cared enough (LOVED) to make it happen. Things get worse because of selfishness and greed not love. To blame love for the problems of the world is not only innacurate and unfair but it is also a very dangerous attitude to have let alone teach to others.
if you you do not Love yourself and See the Equality as Life within All - then 'putting another 'before' self' is only an 'act' out of the belief that that is 'love' an another 'less' or 'more' than you but not equal.

love has no physical real impact on this world it doesnt stop one child dying of starvation, it doesnt stop poverty, rape, abuse nor suffering. You can sit the whole day loving all and everything and its not going to magically implement a practical Real time solution within this physical reality to end suffering/ inequality in this world. Equality practically applied is the self realisation that we are One- Equality is the key to LIFE to establish an infinite Change in this world.
Love as simply a mushy word to throw about does nothing but harm the reputation of what true love is. Tue love brings about true actions. Love should in fact be the motivation for the self realization that we are One-Equality. What other motivation is there to realize such things?

Do you have any idea how many children are fed each day because of love eigther from tyhere parents or someone else who cared enough to feed them.
