Is this apparatus blind and reacting to internal sensors as well as being remotely controlled by an operator or can it "see" its environment? If it is capable of perceiving its surroundings and react to visual cues, well, then that is where this thing could become really creepy. If it every becomes field ready with a quiet internal power source, I could see this thing being set out to perform stealth recon of hostile territory in combat. Add silenced weapons to it and you have a robot soldier.
