  • hermosa fender¡¡

  • is this pentatonic?

  • @Django5198 It's in major pentatonic scale.

  • would you usually play this over a d maj or d min ??

  • @slowhand633 Major pentatonic scales are usually used in southern-style music. It depends, this is why u have ears and brain. If it sounds good, it sounds good. IMHO, music has no rules.

  • Skynyrd loves this riff. Allen and Gary were heavily influenced by the British invasion. You can hear this in the Rolling Stones, too.

  • Nailed the tone

  • nice lesson .

  • Yep. This is the core Skynyrd lick. One of 'em anyway.

    Simplicity is it's own reward.

  • is a whats your name of lynyrd skynyrd

  • Sounds kind of like "Gimme Three Steps".

  • @rockandroll1110 dont u just love ls' music

  • I've got to show this to a girl named Linda-Lou down at a place called the Jug :).

  • @TravisMaxima

Careful, Mate. I was there last week and WHOO-WEE! Her boyfriend'll kill ya fast if you don't think!

  • nice one. cheers!

  • Jody, What can I say ? You da best man. Hoping you all find as much success, help and happiness as you give.

thanks for the Chops man !!

  • Actually, this is a classic Southern Rock lick that has been around longer than Skynyrd. It is, however, the same lick that caused Allen Collins to create Gimme Three Steps.

  • Ill agree with you on that, all rock is derived from something, I.E. Tipitina by Professor longhair was originally junkmans blues or something along the lines. The differences are in presentation in sincopation and whatnot.

  • if you knew anything about how to play gimme three steps you would know they're two different licks

  • Comment removed

  • sounds like the beginning of the intro to Gimme Three Steps

  • buena explicacion..

  • which effect do you use distortion??

  • yeah, he's using some light distortion but not a lot

  • he is really using phaser, delay and heavy metal distortion (A)

  • lol

  • if you've got a simple amp like I do which is a Squier SP-10 amp, just press the over-drive button and you'll be set. It'll set it in a light distortion mode. This was the first lick slash song I ever learned on my Squier Strat Fender. Simple and to the point.

  • sounds easy but its not!

  • it really is quite easy. Never played a guitar before, bought one just a week ago and finally got around to un-boxing it today since I have time off and this was the first thing I was able to play. So easy in fact my 7 year old cousin can play this too.

  • I'd like to see that, mastering an instrument enough in one day to play square and correctly =P It may sound good but not be as it's supposed to be, when you starts it's always like that ^^

  • Great riff! Think I'll head down to the Jug...

  • thanks jody, a light just turned on in my head!

  • simple yet great sounding (love it)

  • Awesome. Sounds cool and is pretty simple.

  • Good one Boss
