  • at 6:40: watch the chalk before the front tyre of the mercedes in spa

  • Can you imagine it today? Local mechanics driving the cars to the circuit. Wonderful!

  • @moshambles It's not like your local Midas has a carbon fiber oven! Those were the days, tech gaps were smaller. The engineer mentioned, Ulenhaut, drove what was essentially a LeMans Prototype as a commuter car! It's why I love my local club track. You can see local guys drive the wheels off cars they built themselves. Pure racing.

  • @flugplatz21 to gravedig.. if you complete in local rallies you can drive your race car to work. it's not nearly the same as a top tier grand prix car, but you can still drive a purpose built race car as a daily driver.

  • look at those D50's! Still fully Lancia at that time - fabulous

  • Wonderful! Maybe it wasn't the best car - the Mercedes really were better built and engineered car, but the 250F was surely the best looking! A real icon, like Moss...

  • And you could just buy one, and hire the other, for rates which, by no means cheap, could yet be managed by any reasonably well heeled individual by writing a personal check.

The frickin' lawyers ruin everything, don't they?
