Personally, I think Dave's struggling with heartbreak. You can hear it in later songs on this album. He also struggles with the people who have and who have not and obviously with people who believe in a proactive God who controls their lives. I hope he is well but I hear the heartache and searching in the songs on this album. When I hear "Lying in the hands of God," I think of someone taking a trip at home through a needle.

this song is powerful, dave sounds so mad at the end. It sounds like his vocal chords are about to crack right open. He screams "I wanna believe in Jesus" at the top of his lungs at the very end, this song is all about struggling to accept what you wish you could but just can bring yourself to doing, in my opinion. I love that line: "Baby when i go home, i wanna pick up the pieces, baby when i get home, i wanna believe in Jesus"!
