  • ID GAMES INSTRUCTION MANUAL FOR QUAKE SAYS:

"Thoust cant be killed but thoust can be blown into chunky kibbles..."

regarding the zombies (thats the time you first hear this track)

If you dont know what im talking about, youve never played the game.

  • Reznor = god of Music

  • This music is great...

  • DooM and Quake are better than CoD or Halo anyday. They're different because in DooM and Quake, you ARE the main character.

  • God dammit guys. There's more mention of CoD and Halo than Quake itself in these videos.

Yes, the vast majority of modern FPS's are terrible. Yes, people are idiots and will think they're the best thing ever because they have only experienced a tiny part of the market. It's just like popular music.

Now shut the fuck up about it.

  • im sick of all these little kids bragging about halo. men play doom and quake

  • @XIPsychoBearIX I got that you talked about Halo but I wanted to talk about it in general.... and wtf where got Halo: Reach back to track fuckin' serious o.O and with CoD MW2 I'll just say Nuke....

  • @XIPsychoBearIX if you look at Halo: Reach you know what he means... Halo 1 Yea that was one you could say: NICE ONE M8! and Halo 2 was like: Mhhh seems familiar! Great! and after it... lets just dont talk about it

  • impulse 9 taught me how to type.

  • This is true music from hell!!

  • That moaning baby thing in the background...it always brings shivers down my spine.

  • @StaleMeat55 It sounds more like a woman with a gag in her mouth... which is even more creepy :(

  • Everything about this soundtrack makes me feel completely insecure and terrified to even look behind me.

  • the music in quake is better then any game but they don't make games like this. its always cutscenes and people talking never just go with it

  • It's good that I played the game without music when I was little...the game itself is scary and with this soundtrack...you could torture people. Imagine you hear this in a forest at night...O.o

  • The involuntary muscle movements began at about 1:30

  • You are at home alone, lights off, dark room and you hear this music. If you feel frightened - don't turn around. the killer is already behind you. ^^

  • @doublebasskoenig LOL thats exactly the situation I'm in right now o_o; *starts to turn aro- dies*

  • I wish I didn't misplace my Quake 1. At least I still have Quake 64 though.

  • Thumbs up if you clearly imagined hell when you heard this.

  • ... Question is the music an optional thing cuz I don't remember there being music when I played Quake and all the walkthroughs I've watched have no music so how do you get the music to play in the game? The version of Quake I have doesn't work but I was just wondering because it's just a little weird how there's a whole soundtrack but none of these ambient songs ever played when I played the game.

  • This is actually the sounds of Jupiter. Look it up, NASA music of Jupiter.

  • The first time I played through Quake, there was no music. Now I know how much I was missing out on.

  • I remember playing this game when I was only 10 years old. I was scared to death by every single little thing in it, I never could make it past the Necropolis, because I was too frightened about what awaited me around the gold key there. A lot of the scariness was due to the soundtrack. Great memories... ;-)

  • this game was the shit back then and it still is

  • cool shit lots of memories.

  • DIS MAKE ME FEEL NICE

  • i shit pants

  • does anyone remember that level called windtunnels or something? that level really gave me the creeps, no way could you get a modern game with atmosphere like that. 90s really was next level shit, pardon the pun

  • this song is good with nazi zombies on world at war

  • but to be honest, i think i remember this from Doom 64, not quake, i am not sure though

  • @omarr9k no its quake, this soundtrack is on the second level of episode one i think

  • i remember this when i was 8 years old, it was so scary playing the game :s

  • Let's face it, the "Old Days" of gaming where things actually amazed us, where moments actually made us jump or say "Holy SH*T That was awesome!" Are pretty much gone. It's part nostalgia, and part the way things are going with the new "Copy Past" Mentality of creating games.

  • OH FUCK HERE COMES AN OGRE!

  • Shamblers scared the shit out of me, so huge and they move so fucking fast for their size.

  • @Coolflames101 dude i used to have nightmares about that shit... and i always used to watch my dad play when i was young and i used to think the shambler was a pissed off polar bear

  • Reznor rocks.

  • yeah, fps games went bad when 2000 came around...

  • actually there are still some hardcore games that dont suck that are recent like killing floor, anything made by valve, arma 2 and some others but they still arnt the same, unlike quake and other games from the 90s

  • @dan3261 agreed :)

  • yeah, fps game when bad when 2000 came around...

  • this game is legend, i totally agree. 90s became the golden era for all shooters.

  • I miss the late 90s era of shooting games, all of it seems so badass. Games like Quake and Unreal just cant compare to popular mainstream games now like Call of Duty and Halo.

  • @Sundownerr

    Daikatana was the downfall.

Then Halo arrived, Killzone and Gears came,

    and here are we now,

    hiding behind chestire walls and

managing the RPG elements. Hate it.

Moon on the DS give me the feeling back.

  • @Sundownerr actually yes they can, back then it was so much more original modern games are fun, but the originals can bring back the memories of when the dog jumped through the window in resident evil and scared the hell out of you and the poorly acted, cheesy cut scenes lol.

  • @Sundownerr agreed..back then it was all about the gameplay...now its all about the graphics

  • @Sundownerr unreal fuck everything men...modern warfare give their existence to the unreal engine ..thats sucks! >.<

  • @Sundownerr Quake and Unreal was the first step to modern 3D FPSs. Quake engine->HL engine->Counter strike, Unreal engine->Deus ex, new Unreals. CoD and Halo sucks ass.

  • @Tuxcz Fun fact: Call of Duty 4 used a heavily modified version of the Call of Duty 2 engine, which itself was based off id Tech 3. IW4 was then scavenged to release MW2, and WaW (and black ops uses a vamped up WaW engine).

This ensured lulz when lots of "hackers" got banned because parts of the id tech 3 code which allowed cracked hosts to modify files in the game which Valve Anti Cheat banned. They mentioned it on the forums, people called them liars, and it happened to be true.

  • @Sundownerr I think you mean games now can't compare to Quake and Unreal ;)

  • This game had the thickest atmosphere I have ever experienced in a game.

I still have the original CD somewhere, too bad the last track has a glitch. I will have to "steal" it one day, haha.

Anyways, isn't this track (#7) actually named "Castle Of The Damned"?

  • yeah, this OST comes with the cd, i have it! xD 1996 lol

  • Me too, I know I posted this before, but I played this cd at work (off the game cd). It scared pretty much everyone :)

They all thought it was Halloween horror music or just weird I guess. Great ambient soundtrack though and this game rules beyond belief.

  • Pure terror ...

  • Great game, great OST.

I used for years that OST during play the chaosium RPG "Call of Cthulhu".

The party were really scared with that sounds!

    :)

  • where did you get theses tracks?

  • @IntenseX760:

You can find them from the game CD, because you own it right? ;)

  • damn, I dont have the game.

  • quake 1 2 and 3 soundtracks rok! i mostly listen quake 2 and 3 and sometimes 1 but does q4 have good soundtrack? i neer heard of it

  • Q4's soundtrack was a lot less thematic when it came to moods. It set sort of an urgent tone I guess.. but it was NOTHING like this.

  • yes i have played q4 now. is the music like ambitence (propaply typed wong) sounds and knd of humm? i think q4 should have the same like the first 3.

  • Yeah, urgent rather than ambient. I like it though; the main theme especially.

  • Reminds me of Half Life 2 music, the beginning does anyways.

  • Oh my god, I'm now so disappointed that I never played Quake with the original soundtrack, the Quake disk I had was a pirate disk or something don't remember (was a long time ago)

  • Same here, I never heard these.

  • Yeah me 2. I bought the full game when i was 11 but my comp didnt play the music for some reason, and i thought the game didnt have any so i never bothered finding a solution. We really missed out didnt we!

  • This is haunting.... Fckin rocks!

  • @defaultuser404: He didn't do the music in Doom

  • youtube mp3 converter

  • I... must... have...

Any idea where I can buy or download this? Preferrably no torrents.

  • Scour Ebay for a copy of the game. In the good old days of games on CD you could play the game CD in your stereo.

You can do that with this one.

  • you could also do that with Redneck Rampage

    : )

  • makes afx's selected-ambient-works-vol2 sound like a kids cartoon soundtrack.

  • This track used to scare me as a kid, the little girl voice in the background was freeeaaakky great soundtrack!

  • Feels like you walk in some... Dark places.

Like in the hallways of some dark castle/fortress. And I also imagine that you go through some village, abandoned, and cursed... And I also imagine how you go inside some temple/church/monastery/whatever of those while listening to this...

  • Not to forget that it is all so lonely while imaginating all those when I listen to this track...

And to there be huge darkness, and demons just wait for you, to fall in their trap, and rip you to shreds and devour you...

  • Pretty much. I love this game and song.

  • When I was younger and played this game, I wouldn't dare play the 4th episode fully, since I always thought it was filled "with those big yeti, lightning-hurling freaks (I never knew a proper name back then) and other nightmarish monsters" LOL! I was so scared of Shamblers back then.

  • Yeah those Shamblers still make me jump out of my chair a little. That's some pretty intense stuff. The Fiends were always a favorite of mine, they were so relentless.

  • Same here, man, same here. Fiends must be the best Quake 1 enemies.

  • EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! That flippin girl's voice. I'm turning this vid off

  • dude i did the exact same! they would scare me so bad i would just cover my face in my hands and die lol. this game is just so demonic and powerful. i wish games now-a-days were made like this.

  • i remember playing so much quake, back in the day.

  • reminds me of a corpse floating through the depths of space, cold, dead, and alone.

  • nice thoughts

  • perfect music for a science fiction horror movie

  • or game,

    oh... wait...

  • Just listening to this music makes me want to cut my wrists :D Perfect ! :D

  • O_O

  • :| chars

  • scary..

  • Wyjebisty 5/5!

  • I can see how this influenced the soundtracks of Doom 64 and PSX Doom.

Gotta love Trent Reznor for composing this great soundtrack.

  • heh the Quake soundtrack is sweet. I have the original game and sometimes I just bring it into work and throw it into my cd player and play it like a typical cd.

Of course a lot of people either think it is just Halloween music or that I'm crazy or something that I'm listening to it haha

  • That's sick.

  • I do that all the time too. Stick on my player and close my eyes and imagine truly disturbing things hehe. Who needs drugs when music like this can fuck you up in just the same way lol.

  • haha thanks for the response. Yeah I definitely don't need the drugs, but I like to drink for what its worth.

Last time I played the game, I had the volume going pretty loud and all the lights off. It was sweet.

  • No problem. Same here I like to drink too. Whisky, Cider, Ale, Vodka and Honey Rum being favourites. It does add to the fun of the game if you play it loud in the dark. In fact it's been a while since I last played Quake, I am overdue another go lol.

  • Just so you know. Alcohol is a drug. It's a depressant.

  • Yeah I know. But it's my "drug" of choice as opposed to drugs like heroin.

  • Please post all the sound tracks

  • well, i´m considering this. maybe i´ll do it after all although other tracks are not music anymore but almost ambient surroundings sounds...

  • Yes, I know... I did say Please after all,

    and it is still "art"

    but it's your choice....

  • don´t worry, i will not ignore it :) but last but not least i need a bit more time for making my movies again. and - the quake soundtrack is definitely worth of posting...

  • please, take yout time.

  • @1human its called dark ambient

  • @kowi333

shut the fuck up. I didn't ask a question that needed an answer from you... and two years ago none the less. I'm not a troll but you are more than a day late and a dollar short to just decide to hope and throw your two cents in...

  • @1human you're so cute!

  • @kowi333 now you've come to your senses. Thank you

  • This song reminds me of a song in the PlayStation version of Doom.

    Man, this song...

Eerie... Relentless... Dangerous... Full of hate... Epic.

  • "Ice", very good ambient track. What you did with the vid was pretty sweet, really fit the music.

  • I FREAKING LOVE THAT SHIT!

  • The grisly grotto is creepier, for me personally.

Why don't you upload the whole soundtrack?

  • i have still two soundtracks to upload but the rest of them are only ambient sounds.

  • hey, could you upload soundtrack from Quake 1's 2 mission packs?? they are great, but not ambient...

  • unfortunately i haven't the good old mission packs anymore. the quaqe one CD i posses is already 12 years old and it survived my countless movings by a miracle :-X

  • i got Quake Enchanted, do you have that too??

  • quake enchanted? what is it about?

  • hmmmmm, go to wikipdia, type Darkplaces, then you will know (you will also get the link to the DPs site)

  • yeah, i see. a free software modification :)

  • but better have a good pc for it, it is like Crysis hungry stuff (no shit)

  • well, i´v bought a high-end pc... but it was one year ago :)))

  • you are not the only one who think that grisly grotto soundtrack is creepier...

  • dam thats creepy

  • nice...so creepy...for me,it is like walking through some dark places of evil...with strange things going on...or something like that, eheh *gulps*...you get me,right??

  • creepy..... but cool !

  • they don't make sountracks like this nowadays...the only thing that even comes close is the American McGee's Alice music...and guess what it's made by NiN to ^^

  • i agree... personally i consider the last album of trent reznor his weakest one. is he moving with the fashion or simply growing old? because becoming a suddenly social feeling/anticapitalistic/globalism criticizing but despite of that a wealthy hypocrite was definitively not his style...

  • They sure don't.

and regarding Alice's sd, it was actually done by Chris Vrenna, formerly of NIN.

  • This is really NIN doing the music. Cool shit i thought reznor only worked on DOOM 3.

  • Thanks for the song. I love the creaking and ringing...like I said, it's probably what hell sounds like.

  • yes, hell - exactly the same to me...

  • thanks for posting this man.

  • yeah, it's a pleasure for me too.
