add/adhd ?aquistion. If one wants to be noble, meditation is a good first step, as it both calms the mind and poses the question "what am I pursuing and why?" Ignoble pursuits can be revealed and then abandoned. The ignoble child simply "does", the noble child asks "why". Nobility requires excersize and a simple natural diet. Regards schooling, the noble child learns how to learn - note taking, flash cards - the ignoble child plods along. emphasize nobiity and a lot of child "problems" go away.
Soon as she said that they are narcotics i stopped watching. Opiates and Benzo's are narcotics which are the complete opposite of STIMULANTS. Yeah giving kids below the age of 17 stimulant meds is completely unnecessarily due to the emotional and physical effects when they are still developing at a rapid rate. Especially since public schools pretty much hand you a HS diploma for just showing up for class. College on the other hand, would be an effect time for their use.
@xxpoppyelfxx hm...You are technically right. However, "Class 2 narcotics" is an older term used to describe medicines (since these are approved for legal purposes). These medicines have the largest abuse potential compared to other prescribable drugs and are typically kept in a locked cabinet in the pharmacy. Examples include amphetamines like ritalin, adderal, concerta; also pain drugs like oxycontin, fentanyl.
If I calmed my stress anymore than it already is, I would be dead. What type of meditation do you recommend if I am a passive daydreamy slow sluggish type?
@Vegheadsrock The thing about TM is that it's a natural technique that improves the way you function. It doesn't force any particular type of change. If you're the jittery type, then probably you'll feel calmer after you practice TM. But if you're overbalanced the other way - as you say, sluggish - then it will help normalize that and you'll feel more energy.
@Vegheadsrock My experience with TM is that it promotes balance. If I'm tired and sluggish, then after meditating, I feel more energetic and motivated. If I'm over excited, then after meditating I feel more calm. To me, it feels like TM gives me whatever I need most at that time.
So, based on my own experience, I'd recommend you try TM!
Can definitely attest to this... Meditation has helped me far more than any concentration medication. Adderal may help you write a paper, sure I'll be honest, it does... But meditation is a far more powerful tool for concentration... I never imagined I'd be able to sit still for 25 minutes.. but eventually it happened... mindfulness is an essential tool for so many aspects, an untapped resource.
the ADHD is caused because of the FOOD these children are being poisoned with. It's the sugars and ZERO nutrient foods they are given. Not to mention the mercury laced vaccines they are injected with. So what do we do? We give them more drugs (poisons) to cover up the side affects of the other drugs (poisons/foods).
Actually, some of the students in this video were on medication, but with the support of their doctors they were able to reduce/eliminate it after they'd been practicing TM for a while. So it is possible, but be sure to check with your doctor.
My son has adhd. I think it is really important to explore and try every avenu available, as an alturnative to the medication. Although I think the medication is great, those traits of adhd children that prevent them from reaching their full potential and make them feel out of the main stream or not part of the norm, these things can be improve through meditation and cognitive therapy. Its alot more hard work but worth it if they can live happier lives drug free.
in a way ADHD is not really being nonconforming to social norms but it's merely a burden in progressing understanding..i have ADHD and have been medicated since the 2nd Grade...I have an ever growing passion in science/math/philosophy but even though i live for understanding...it is alot of the times hard to push myself in doing those things and maintaining my attention and dedication...it really is a burden on my part...i've been reduced to taking my meds more at one time than prescribed
These so called ADHD (more labels) children do not learn in a slower way they learn in a different way! And you quote that every parent wants there child to be successful, which brings you to the question what is success? I see many children that are 'successful' in terms of education and wealth but are very unhappy. These children are new breed, new energy, trying to live in an old breed old energy educational system. Most schools don't cater for imagination, hence ADHD, they r just children!
I agree 100% Viper1210. Schools do NOT promote imagination and individual thinking. If someone is thinking about something or daydreaming, they get labled by teachers as "not paying attention"
Society and schools push us to act and perform in humanly unnatural ways, and an ADHD child is more instinctly natural & childlike. Society trys to "MAKE" adults out of children by teaching-out and removing the normal child-like tendencies to make a bland, controlled, lifeless and conforming adult.
I enjoy the idea. Medicating problems supress the symptoms - they are mistaken for cures too often (which really are preventative, unless in the case of poison.)
I think it's all the MERCURY they put in vaccines; my folks were docs, I will never get an uneccessary vaccine ever again in my life. Ask your docs about the hard facts, consider the pharmaceudical industry's ties with biological weapons research, and follow the money. Always.
Inaccurate. ADHD isn't a disorder, it's a misunderstood form of differentiated learning. Just because kids act outside what is acceptable, doesn't mean that it's a bad thing. The worst thing you could do is prescribe the same stuff that college guys are addicted to to a child.
Conforming to perfection and quo is impossible and should be disregarded.
The kids in this study had so much trouble keeping it together that they were really unhappy. They had really severe ADHD. TM helped them because it helps the different parts of the brain to work together in a more efficient way. So naturally it helped their ADHD. They're still themselves, but now they can do things that they want to do because their brains are more coherent.
The scientific consensus in the field, and the consensus of the national health institutes of the world, is that ADHD is a disorder which impairs functioning, and that many adverse life outcomes are associated with ADHD.
as OffWorld1971 said "there was no such thing as ADD" It's not that they have an attention disorder, its that they are a new generation of beings with spiritual consciousness trying to fit in the material world. Their mission in this world is not to train them to live in this material imagination, but to train their minds and no better way to do so than meditation,
And also pay attention to the root physical cause of many mental disruptions that play an important role in the manifestation of mental disorder...metal toxicity, synthetic hormones, pollution, food additives, synthetic ingredients in body care, gmo's,msg's,chlorine, flouride, deception deception,deception.......
When I was a kid there was no such thing as ADD. And everyone turned out just fine.
Now they want to drug anyone that does not conform, and I know several men who were drugged in middle school to keep them quiet, and now are drug addicts as men.
Transcendental Meditation is the rational and scientifically documented way to go for this...not drugs

Some kids can concentrate & others can`t. Kids aren`t made from the same cookie cutter. Those who have trouble concentrating will have a hard time in school which will generate much bigger problem for ex. they`ll be seen as the bad kid by the teacher and students & the kid will know it. It will effect their grades which will make them feel & look dumb. They`ll have notes sent home which will cause tension in the family relationships, etc. So the kid`s esteem goes down & frustration up
If you look at EEG (brain wave) patterns, you can tell whether a person has ADHD/ADD. There's a specific EEG pattern that's associated with ADHD. So it's a real disorder. Of course, many may be diagnosed with ADHD now because it's so publicized - most doctors don't check EEG when diagnosing it.
It would be great if a simple EEG examination would objectively determine whether or not a person has ADHD/ADD. Although there is recently be made a lot of progress in quantitative EEG, specialists unfortunately still have to decide on basis of records of the person's behaviour.
You probably have a form of ADD too - have you ever sought out any further info about your focusing capabilities? This video is fantastic - the best I've seen on ADHD etc yet! ADD, ADHD etc is caused by the brains processing of a chemical called Dopamine - it over-rides the Pre-frontal cortex's programming of control, which brings on distractability and spontaneous actions when the child/adult is put into a less stimulating environment eg. a school/classroom with standard systems and rules.
That's what we also thought, initially. But after our son went through a terrible year, and we very reluctantly admitted to try medication for a while, we see a huge difference. We hear our son singing in the morning again! Some of the comments of the doctor in this video are not valid. E.g. medication will reduce the chances of becoming a drug addict considerably.

And don't forget chelation.
Pull all the heavy metal poisoning out of their brains from the vaccines!
That's the real cause of all these neurological disorders, a brain stained with neurotoxin from early childhood.

As far as the United States is concerned, good grades are success. I know I'm not broken, and I don't need to be fixed.

adhd has been called adhd since 1978, so i think it more than likely was around when you were a child, just not so well publicised.
its well known that being medicated reduces the likelyhood of being a drug addict as most adhd'ers use drugs to self medicate,
