  • I love your beautiful, most fascinating slide show about this great man. You will perhaps like to know I lead a progressive rock band I named "Quanah Parker" after I was struck by an impressive picture of him in a book. (That picture was the first one in your slide show.) My band was first active in 1981-1985, then refounded it in 2005 (and it is still active). "Quanah Parker" is also the title of one of the first songs I wrote for this band. Thank you again for this outstanding slide show!

  • Ive just finished Empire of the Summer Moon. What an incredible guy Quanah was. Physically awesome and hyper intelligent with a will of iron.Very inspirational chap. Would have loved to have met him.

  • Thankyou for this, My mothers family are parkers,

  • *5'6 for men. Is this true? On average, I mean

  • Read empire of the summer moon. I'm not native nor American, but I think the Comanche were awesome. I have a question, and wonder if anyone of Comanche descent can answer. Internet info says Comanches are around 5feet for females and 5'y for men

  • Great Tribute. He would be proud : )

  • Awesome

  • Thank you for sharing. Interesting how in the majority of pictures his strong spirit shows through. What he must have been thinking!

  • I am UK I have read a lot about Quannah Parker, he lead such a facinating and interesting life with many challenges. Do not understand why they do not do a proper film dedicated to his life as it would make a great film for understanding and exploring many things

  • I just finished reading "Empire of the Summer Moon" by S.C. Gwynne. What an I opener! Thank you so much for the beautiful slide show. A wonderful tribute to a true American Warrior and Man of Peace.

  • Somewhere along the way... we're related. My family is really fragmented so I can't explain the exact relationship but I was brought up with the story of Quanah being one of our relatives..... remember that from a looooong time ago. Thanks for the share.... wish I knew the roots of my side better, but it is so pleasing to see this.

  • Thank you so much for the slide show. Many of the pictures I had not seen before. I am desperately searching for the 1908 film "The Bank Robbery " in which he appears. If anyone knows how to locate it, I would be so grateful. I have been reading everything on Quanah Parker for the last 30 years and to see him actually walking about in this movie would be so wonderful!!!!

  • @lazyldy If you find it let us know

  • haha. its great how we both kept the last name. its a proud last name.

  • Loved the slide show. I know you are so proud of Quanah, as I would be if he were my grandfather. I live in the Texas Hill Country where he once roamed. This history is so very interesting to me as I have ancestors who lived among the Cherokee in KY.

  • You are blessed to have such a great man as your ancester. He was one of the greatest american leaders.

  • Angie -- You have a very nice collection of images -- many I'd not seen before. Do you know about the Quanah Parker Celebration -- Family Reunion -- this year at Quanah, Texas? It's June 9-11, 2011. Everyone is welcome. For more info, do a search for Quanah Main Street.

  • Thanks for this beautiful collection of pictures. I just finished reading EMPIRE OF THE SUMMER MOON by S. C. Gwynne and I wanted more. This is just what I needed to top it off.

  • Quanah was a great man for sure

  • My Great Grandmother was Zora Parker (Cherokee) and her brother went to Oklahoma in the 1920's to visit Quanah's family. They were connected thru Cynthia Parker's folks.

  • I would be greatly honored if I was related to Quanah Parker, and especially to that great lady Cynthia Ann Parker, Quanah's mother. Great and Honorable People.

Thank you for the beautiful pictures. My life has been enriched by studying history, and I am grateful for all the knowledge on Quanah Parker and the Comanche Nation.

  • angie0064, I am also a descendant of Quanah Parker. He is my great, great, great, great grandfather on my mother's side. So greetings and blessings I give to you my relative.
