  • I saw Theirry Lincou

  • Why no safety glasses? Ever seen a squash eyeball injury? Yuk!!!!

  • Why have a disturbing music when someone is explaining things?

  • I have no clue, but what if you hit the ball very softly so it bounces on the wall almost on the "board", then wouldn't it hit the wall and the bounce several times close to the wall before the other player is possible to reach it? What makes this not possible in a competition?

  • @BelRiose2000 Because in a high speed situation it's nearly impossible to judge and your oponent can then just kill it.

  • Where is 1:46?;(

  • I cant play squash im costraphobic XD

  • if it bounces more than once after person "A" has hit it, does the point got to person "A" or "B"?

  • Comment removed

  • @craigster1997 if the ball hit the front wall and then bounced more than once...the point goes to "A". But if it doesn't hit the front wall, then it goes to "B". Remember, only bouncing on the floor is considered a bounce, not walls.

  • I play squash for Whitehaven squash club!

  • Just played squash for the first time today. Pretty fun.

  • what´s the name of the music starting at 00:06?

  • what does he mean at 0:47 when he says ''as long as it stays within the court?

  • @aaron18ful It means that the ball shouldn't go above the red lines on the wall. ( If the ball touches the wall it is out, but if it goes above and doesn't touch it is still in play)

  • 2morrow is my first time playing squash. cant wait! this video rlly helped. thx!

  • What does he say in 1:12 to 1:15??

  • Ok, got it

  • @nusba If you cant move out of the way for your opponent to hit the ball in time. Then thats a let and you play the point again.

  • thanks!

  • got a question... if I don't serve and I win the point, do I get a point or its only change server (so only the server can make points, or if he lose he only lose his the serve) ? maybe unclear and confusing but can anyone help me with that

  • @DITGent it depends whether you're playin english or american rules- in english its a change of server and american you win the point

  • @DITGent It depends if you're playing using English SCORING or American scoring. The international standard is point-a-rally scoring (American scoring if you like) which means you win a point whenever you win the rally; and the Englishing scoring (which used to be the international standard a fairly long while back) is where you only win the point when you are serving.

  • cuntreh.... i guess you tommys mean country

  • Awesome, many videos suck, this onde is great!!

  • Awesome! Goin for a game tomorrow with a friend. Good to know the basics!

  • it's not the world's healthiest sport because it fucks up your back especially if you are tall

  • Im about to go play squash for the first time ever in an hour, think Im gna like it from the look of it, need a new fun work out thing.

  • What's the difference between this and racquetball?

  • , @DiesIstGrammarNazi same rules i think, but raquetball has a bigger and bouncier ball as well as different shaped raquets

  • @DiesIstGrammarNazi

racquetball is has no lines on the walls that you must play under or above. You can use the ceiling even. Serving rules are slightly different alsol, but the main difference is the lines on the walls and that such a large portion of the back wall that is not playable in squash. There are different racquets as well, and the squash ball is considerably less bouncy, and smaller.

  • It's a great sport! Just started playing it recently at the age of 29 and I'm simply loving it. Been a badminton player through my teens so still adjusting to squash's swings. Do check out Nick Matthew's Masterclass with Sportsvibe on Youtube. The bugger deserves to be a world champ. What humility!

  • Phenomenal video! What software did you use to edit it? Thanks!

  • @rungettothechoppa try playing for forty minutes with a skilled opponent. nuff' said

  • @rungettothechoppa really? you didn't realize there's no other sport out there as hard at this one... try it ;) be careful not to have a heart attack or injure yourself. Great for losing weight extremely quickly. I love playing tennis but for a real workout it's definitely squash..actually squash is not like tennis, it's like table tennis, you need to flick with the wrist.

  • I Love playing squash

  • @GordonIatiMusic so do I go on Squash Wales and look for under 15 then rankings then Cameron Hill thats me :D

  • I used to play using one of those old, small-headed rackets in the '80s. My club insisted on all-white gear: I miss the all-whites decorum. But the old rackets were so small, the ball often struck the wood of the racket.

  • why 3 dislike? WHYYY!?

  • @MrInsane85 Cause they dont know how to play it ;)

  • Great video, well edited and well shot!

  • hi guys,

i was just wondering if some one interested in playing squash in barking, london

  • can hitting the ball against the back wall( glass) break the glass. At the gym i go do they have a sign that forbids players to hit the ball against the back wall, claiming the glass will break if done so.

  • @FCDonkeyKong

lol no way. you can see in many professional rallies that this is sometimes the only way they can return the ball when under immense pressure from the opponent. The only way it will break is if some beginner runs through it xD

  • @grant142 had a feeling the sign was BS. thanx for the clear up

  • Comment removed

  • I'm a tennis player trying to expand my boundaries to other sports. I'm stuck between racketball and squash. Which one is more like tennis?

  • @Mrnevertalks racketball is more like tennis as the balls bouncers more but squash is the better/more played game

  • kind of have a phobia for this sport.got hit in the nose by my best fren's racquet when i was playing with her and got an awful nose bleed.but yet,i want to join it.its a fun sport

  • if u wanna no everything u need to know about squash just go to squashmadeeasy(dot)blogspot(dot)com/

  • get IN and start playing!

  • Wicked video. Thanks!

  • great video i love squash!

  • thanx, i have to do this for my class

  • Damn, my school is so intense at this sport, yet I dont even know the basic rules. Thanks, I might start to play.

  • @Gator115 That will be one of the best decisions you'll ever make.

  • I just started this sport like a week ago... Damn The amount of running you do in this game is CRazy. I use to play Badminton and i never got a workout as good as squash.

  • For anyone thinking of taking the sport up for the first time the video is poor. The rules are explained too quickly: there seems an implicit assumption that the viewer is already acquainted with the court and doesn't even really give the 'basics'

  • @patashnikk it gives a good insight into what the sport is about in a video short enough for youtube - most people watching this video randomly would stop watching after a couple of minutes. Then they can go and play and actually find out what the sport is like!

  • Really great video, everything a beginner needs to know!

In terms of calories burned, it probably is one of the best in terms of how much time you spend playing versus calories shredded. On the other hand, where it's not so healthy is injury - it's not great for lower-leg injuries (ankles) and the occasional eye injury.

But every sport has injury issues, and I wouldn't stop playing squash for anything.

  • Highly informative, love the video.

But "the healthiest sport"? I don't think so.

  • @darkfang77 You burn a shit-load of calories

  • @darkfang77 More like "one of the healthiest sport", sure; but squash was indeed ranked as the healthiest sport on places like Forbes. Although, I can list a number of sports that are also extremely healthy. Then again, squash is a sport that requires very little space, very few equipments, very little preparation, and is highly productive, relatively low risk of physical injury. So yeah, I can see why it's been this highly vouched. :)

  • @kesun15

Requires little space, but bumping into partners, and little movement. I play badminton heavily and squash only recreationally, and I think you move more in other racquet sports. I'm not flaming, but presenting an argument,

what do you mean by productive?

I've never been injured in over 5 years of badminton, but I did get a bruise on my eye from bumping into the glass wall in squash.

  • @darkfang77

    1) when I was making the comparison, I was comparing it against other types of sports that I have played or still playing, like swimming, volleyball, wrestling, running, etc. It's not the absolute winner, but the risk factor is greatly smaller than many of the sports out there. I love badminton, too, but to be honest, I end up getting more workout from squash

    2) That's why you wear a goggle, silly. :D I am a blind bat so I play with normal glasses on, pretty risky but not hurt yet

  • @darkfang77 Unlike many other sports, which can be tons more fun, squash doesn't really have the variety in itself. But if you are looking for a highly efficient and convenient workout that's at least funner than running (which I sort of dislike, because of the knee pressure and stomach cramp), some excellent sweating, then squash is a good option. You can even practice it in your garage if a court is not available (although a little weird), lol!

  • @kesun15

    I swim too.

I swear wikipedia said you shouldn't play squash especially if you have heart problems, but okay lol

Goggles for squash, are you serious?

Off topic, is it considered weird or selfish to play squash solo, i've started doing it recently as my friends don't play squash that often. Btw, are there any tips for solo squash?

    Cheers

  • @darkfang77

More like the protective eye wear that won't be shattered when hit, and I just called it goggles for convenience. Some people wear it, and some prefer not to.

I practice it solo too when not with a partner. I am also pretty new at squash, but I'd say soloing it is great for training accuracy and reaction, and up your basic techniques! I don't think it's weird at all. In fact, I find it easier to learn and practice the basics. Plus, you'll have faster legs from practicing solo. :P

  • @kesun15

Great stuff, playing solo squash is a great outlet for anger.

    BOOM! (headshot!)

My eye still hurts from bumping into the glass wall. :P

  • @darkfang77

Yeah, LOL! It indeed can be an excellent outlet. XD

Hope your eye will get better soon. You are lucky that it's not your nose that hit the wall, or else it would hurt a LOT more...since it sticks out of the surface of your face, thus would take a greater blow. :|

  • What is the name of music they played in this video?

  • what is the diferince between this and racket ball

  • can u only win the point if u are serving or can u gain a point whenever, like even if the opponant just served??

  • @limesasquatch: there are different methods of scoring. 'English' scoring is when u only win a point if u serve, if u recieve and win the rally then u win the serve. It is on the process of changing at most levels, so that you win a point every rally irrespective of who has served. I have always known this as 'American' scoring (just a name, no graphical reference) Basically just enjoy playing and score however you want unless it is a league match and has set rules. Id say american to 15 is best

  • @hpbarnes007 thanks :)

  • @hpbarnes007 It's known as "regular" which is what you refer to as "english", and PARS for what you refer to as "american". Point a rally system. After squash advanced and players became better, they changed it to PARS in attempt to shorten rallies.

  • FUCK

  • This is everything a Youtube video should be, short and informative with high quality video. Thanks a lot!

  • Can anybody please tell me if it's allowed or not to hit the sidewalls first before hitting the "mainwall" when you play the ball back?

I'd really appreciate if someone could send me the answer!

  • @CssGeil Yeah that's fine - it can hit any wall before the main wall as long as it always hits below the line.

  • This is the most necesary squash vid ever!

I just hope squash becomes popular once again like before.

  • I've got a question; once they ball is in play, after the opponent has returned the serve, can you hit the ball anywhere on the wall, or does it still have to be between the out line and service line? also are you allowed to hit the ball in the side wall and let it bounce off it and hit the front wall, or is that concidered a double-bounce? great tutorial by the way:)

  • good video

  • "Whoever scores 11 points wins the game" but the WSF rules mention 9 points as the game. Why is it different? Did the rules change?

  • @lukaszsw

the 11 point system is the american way of counting. The 9 point system is the british way of counting. In the latter, you only get a point when you're on serve

  • @GreatHealer

Hi, me and my friend are beginners at this but we love the game, im just wondering if you use the rules that you have to have 1 point free to win? Like, you cannot win if the score is 8-9, but then you have to win with 8-10, So if the score would be 8-8 one of the players must score 10 to win. Sorry but i dont have a easier way to formulate the question

  • @TheRealAkarnael

In squash you MUST have a difference of 2 points to win the game. In both American or English system there is a difference of 2 points ALWAYS to win a game.

    e.g. (american scoring system)

when the score is 10-10, hyou must go to 12-10 to win the game. when it's 11-11 you must go to 13 to win. Ditto with british system of counting. Goodluck with your games!

  • wait the difference btwn squash and racquetball is just the serve?

  • nope. in RB the court is bigger and so is the ball. the ball is alot bouncier in RB and the racket is bigger and slightly different shape. and some other things

  • i just learnt squash in 90 seconds thanks

  • quick overview

  • Tnx for this upload. Short and helpful.

  • Thanks you!

  • Wow - good product

  • Thanks for the quick overview
