I remember watching this HORROR SHOW when it ran on live TV. This guy previously had an offer of $620,000.00 which he could have taken but instead he wanted to gamble for an extra $400,000.00. I couldn't believe he did that. Then his offer dropped to $417,000.00 which meant that $1M or $1.00. He risked $417,000.00 on a 50% (or less) chance. I felt so bad for those people cuz they didn't understand simple math odds. A bird in the hand ($620K) IS WORTH two in the bush!
@chopinbrain i really hope you are joking, otherwise you are the stupidest person on earth. Did you not study probability in school?? You do realise the odds change as cases get eliminated. There are 2 cases left, and 2 amounts left to be won. Just thought i should inform you that you are wrong. I think you are confused with a branch of mathematics known as the "Monty Hall problem" explaining it is better to switch choices after the host, opens an incorrect door out of 3 doors after youve chosen
he just got caught up in the moment, plus this is geared towards making it more tense and interesting for tv drama. haha of course everyone watching it, thought how funny it would be if the fat guy would only win $1 instead of the $1mill. ppl would think different if instead of the fat guy, its some cancer striken kid
ahhh its 1/25 that it holds a million, suitcase he chose at the beginning. BUT its 1/2 if he is actually right, if it holds a million, when he gets to the final two suitcases.
wtf? why r people hating??? is not like he lost anything. In this game, u come in with nothing, so u lose nothing, might as well go all the way! theres no risk for losing. he was even a good sport in the end
Your odds are always better for you if you actually switch the cases. The odds of him picking the right suitcase before the game started was 1 in 26 (not very good). Switching is a better choice.
The odds are NOT 50/50 the odds that he picked the right suitcase is still 1/25. If there were 1Billion suitcases the odds that he picked the right one would be 1/1billion. If he had a choice to switch he would be stupid not to since a 1/1billion shot is terrible. Same principle but just a lower number of suitcases. Look up the "Monte Hall problem" on youtube for more in depth explanations. What you have is a common misconception but very understandable since it kind of defies logic.
@Sonarghosts No. Wrong. In the beginning you're right, the odds are 1/25, but everyime he eliminates a box, the odds change. when it comes down to 2 boxes, and there is $1 and $1,000,000 box left. It doesn't matter what any odds were before, it is 50/50 chance. Switching the box does nothing. Each time a box is eliminated it is taken out of the equation. You can't account for it at the end and say that the last two have anything other than 50/50 chance, stats don't work that way.
@triphip2 "stats don't work that way" you are arguing about one of the most famous statistical "puzzles" in recent years that is backed by mathematical proof. This same problem has been published in magazines and even shown in the movie "21". I told you to look up "Monte Hall Problem" which explains everything I was saying. I don't understand how I can tell someone the name of this mathematical scenario and they still not take the time to research it and then assume "stat don't work that way"
@Sonarghosts Dude I don't need to look up anything to know you're wrong! lol. I can't believe you're so persistant about this. I am an educated person, and this is just common sense, it's not even that hard of a concept to need to be looked up. I have seen 21, and there is no reference in that movie that would back up what you're saying. You are making something more complicated than it is. How can I explain you this in simple terms...
@Sonarghosts you have 4 pieces of paper, red, green, yellow, blue. What are the odds of pulling blue? 1/4 right? Now the blue is not in the bag anymore. so there is red, green, yellow... Now what is the probability of picking green? Not 1/4 anymore! It's 1/3. Can't get more basic than this. I think you are trying to account for eliminated cases which you simply can not do. I have taken stats, and bio stats, and calculus. there is no magical fomula out there that disproves this basic principal..
He was offered over half a million dollars. He pretty much had that money. It was his! Risking it all on a 50/50 gamble is like putting the deed to your house on the reds in roulette. How could you be so stupid?
Stupid fat girl "One More time" When you are offered 603,000 Dollars, And there is a 50% chance for 1$ and a 50% chance for 1M$ You Obviously say "Deal"
he must be the world's biggest fucking moron, he wasn't even getting good odds to do it! Honestly if I was his wife or a friend of his I would punch him right in his fat blubber face. Fucking annoys me just to look at him. This video ruined my life.
he is not greedy he knew that $10,001 would help him and do not be rude he won that extra $10,000 by getting a huge offer and he had to keep his heart rate under 140 and he did and one girl ,money wise, won $5,000 with the other case being $1,000,000 but also won a walk on roll for hairspray and a trip to broadway and a private audition for annny play on broadway and she got that for going all the way
Difference it was female vs male. This fat idiot isn't going to get any broad way appearance or anything. All he is going to get is an increased chance of a heart attack.
I SAW THIS i swear to god he had 3 cases and the last one was also a million and he picked them both out... it was crazy. havent watched the show since

You should ALWAYS swap cases.....
His case still had the original 1 - 26 of winning.
The other case had a 25 of 26 chance of being the top prize.
(It doesn't matter that there are only two cases left) Look it up on Google.
