  • I have an NCO sword and the scabbard from my passed away uncle. I am not sure how old it is but its is in mint condition gunny! if you are interested please comment back

  • Well dont just stand there, FIND THE GUNNY HIS SWORD!

  • If I had one I'd just give it to ya R.Lee!

  • Hell, if I found one I'd be tempted to GIVE IT to the man. I met him twice, and was on Mail Call with him once. Really good guy, funny as heck and nice as can be to his fans.

  • Just steal one from the museum.

  • I have one. It does not have the scabbard.

  • i have one of those swords in the gun locker downstairs.

  • Red Schoolhouse Antiquities has a Marine NCO Sword & Scabard for $1,800.00 check it out, I hope this helped! =)

  • I've have met him before.

    Good ol' Young Marines :D

  • He's a Marine. I'm a Marine. I always will be.... I finally got my NCO Sword. In life, People get what they deserve.... To others, it may not be much, but to me it is everything.....Especially when deep down inside, you know you earned it....

    Semper Fidelis

  • i can imagine his face when he holds a weapon that someone hundreds of years ago held and possible used in combat. if anyone deserves to own or hold one its a guy like gunny.

  • oohrah to him he was there when i was at mcrd i want to be this guy when i get out. Kill!

  • fmj

  • there is one of those swords on ebay right now , the older style , with scabbard , you jsut have to be willing to trudge your way thru all the damn repros chinese guys put up on there.

  • gotta love R. Lee Ermey

  • Was this guy a real Marine?

  • @noearaujo yup yup

but he wasn't a gunnery sgt tho

  • @VodkaPowered U bet

  • @VodkaPowered he got honorary rank after he retired so he is a gunny now

  • @woo1693 he is the only Marine ever to achieve that

  • @noearaujo Yes, he was a real marine. He enlisted en 1961. Was drill instructor from 1965 to 1967. Served in Vietnam in 1968. After that he served in okinawa and was medically retired in 1972 for several injuries incurred during his tours.

  • @banpiro He actually officially retired a St. Sgt I believe, not a Gunny, but after all the movies and all the trips he was taking to the Marines in combat, they went back and gave him Gunny. He still goes over to Iraq.

  • @ABCxJAMMIN really i'd think one trying to correct someone else would atleast have an idea on wht the words mean.

  • @ABCxJAMMIN the base what about it?

  • Wats a scabbard?

  • @pringles509 think of it this way, weapon wise (side-arms) it's the holster, It's what a sword is kept inside.

  • @NekkedAsian Thanks man, I was thinking that the scabbard was the handle of the sword for some reason. lol stupid me.

  • man this guy trained chuck norris

  • I live in Texas, near the coast and all. I wish I knew where to find one.

But if I do, then I'm gonna have a shitload of Gunnies on me lol.

  • You know if I had it, I would probably give it to him.

  • OORAH

  • Gunny, I'll rob a USMC Museum for you and get the sword for you! lol!!

  • @privatebuttercup So Funny, LOL...Good one!!..LOL.

  • I bought a legit WWII Japanese officer from from my neighbor for $15. Yes, it is legit, we have had it appraised for approx. $350. I really hope Gunny has luck finding that sword.

  • Pawn Stars...gunny you could negotiate.

  • Scabbards? Scabbards? We dont need no stinking Scabbards!

  • hahahah i think chuck norris just found someone who kicks his ass

  • @idk2say lmao, thats too funny. But I agree

  • @idk2say damn right. Woudln't even have to try.

  • @idk2say no chuck norris has the upper hand on this one

  • @SimpleStuff31 Wrong.

  • @OBEYWEEGEE no chuck is da bomb.

  • Didnt he marry Jack Black?

  • Sgt. Hartman Right? FMJ

  • GrySgt. Hartman was his character yes but he realy is a gunnery seargent

  • @ken0is0gay0fan0club if i do rember it was an honorary thing given to him wasnt a gunny till then.

  • @ken0is0gay0fan0club i think he was there as a consultant and they said he was too good and he might as well take the part. now LET ME SEE YOUR WAR FACE!!

  • you heard the man! go get him his USMC sword

  • Well he could always try ebay or find a military sword place. We have them everywere.

  • authentic 1800's usmc swords? everywhere? lol EBAY!!??

  • @clap5 Ah yea there on there ( some times ) but if you go to a sword or blade convention they should have them there. Although there realy hard to find.

  • Oops just realized you put nco not commisioned officer lol my bad then yes the nco sword was from the 1812 war with Mexico I think , also a little trivia the dress blues originated from the Mexican army dress blues

  • @lnvaderGir I think you'll find the dress blues come from the Royal Marines (The red trim on the blues blouse is a nod to their British Origins)

  • @Kalrenbok The Scarlet Stripe, often called the Blood Stripe has been an official part of the uniform regulations for NCO's and Officers since 1859 and is said to commemorate the bloodshed by Marine officers and non-commissioned officers at the Battle of Chapultepec in Mexico in 1846. Therefore it is only worn by Corporals and above in the Marine Corps.

  • The officer sword was given to the lt by the ottomotan empire viceroy prince hamet during the the first Barbary wars , not Mexico ;) the ottomotans used the sword look from older scimmitars

  • Marines are the only branch where enlisted men are authorized to carry a sword. Marine NCO's carry an army officer sword (from the war with Mexico I think). Marine officers carry a sword patterned off the on given to Lt. O'Bannon.

  • Gunny's so f'n awesome!

  • Don't forget about Warrant Officers.

they carry the Mameluke sword as well

  • What rank do you have to be in order to get the sword?

  • Noncommissioned Officers or NCO's carry the Model 1859 sword but Commissioned Officers, 2nd Lieutenant and higher carry the Mameluke sword which you might have seen in most Marine commercials

  • Corporal for NCO sword, 2Lt for officer sword

  • Only NCO's gets it. Starting from Corporal.

  • A corporal and above...it's not standard issued either.

  • @mcsheph1 Officers. Commissioned Officers.

  • and why would the marine corps need a sword?

    are they nostalgic?

  • First off, The Iraqi's aren't yelling "AIAIAIAIAIAIA" until after they are shot. They are yelling "Allah Akba" which means praise allah. And Marines don't yell Ooh Rah when we are fighting. Our swords are tradition.

  • @TheWW2geek The sword is symbolic of a warrior, the marines being the warriors of America

  • GUNNY!

i remember when i was a new boot going to MCT he was at Camp Pendleton on main side doing a xmas charity event, and i was on libo!

    ooooooh-RAHHHHH!

  • I wonder if Gunny's ever heard of the Oathkeepers?

    Oathkeepers . org

  • well, if you ship out with the army, then you're a "woos bag" too..If you're gonna go-go with the worlds finest fighting force, us devildawgs

  • its actually OOH RAH!

  • i met gunny ermey my boot camp graduation day. he's a lot taller than you think.

  • if you watch Full Metal Jacket, when Hartman stands before Joker, Joker towers over him, but this is because Mathew Modine is 6 feet 5 inches tall. So is Adam Baldwin

  • hoo-rah the army oo-rah is the usmc

  • Comment removed

  • You are incorrect. We say Hooah in the Army. Not Hoorah. Although Privates usually like to shorten it up and it sounds like and exagerated HUH when they say it. They like to say Sarnt too instead of Sergeant... I really dislike Privates.

  • Sarnt is used alot in the Corps too. Atleast in my experience, but mainly by kids from the midwest /south must be the accent. lol

  • i think "oorah" and "hooah" aint scary but the warcry used by the iraqees are kinda badass, cause nothing is scary than guy with a ak screaming"AIAIAIAIAIAIAIAIA"

  • the Army is actually hooah. No "r"

  • semper fi, my dad has one, hes a staff sergeant, man when i turn 18 two years from now im gonna join, HOO RAH

  • Why not at 17?

  • my dad wants to give me a another year to think about it to make sure its what i really want to do, im pretty sure i do

  • Don't be a woos bag just do it. I ship out Nov 10th into the Army as a 19Delta.

  • @jacobmlayne

I am enlisting to BECOME a Marine, you don't just join. Now kid I have a word of advice, if in two years you will be 18, how is it that your profile says that you are 27. The Corps. does not accept liars or cheaters, they require honor, dignity, and fidelity. Oh and for your information the battle cry is OO-RAH!

  • Also great for cutting my favorite. Watermelon.

  • My uncles a gunny now, he told me, even though he was joking, he joined to get the kickass sword, but he had to be an NCO and had to buy it, lol.

  • I actually know where you can find one

  • i have one but the yellow ummm thingy on it came untied and is twisted all up.

  • im looking for a sword too from the 40s to be exact

  • I met Gunny Ermey last weekend when my brother graduated from MCRD. He was collecting gifts for Toys for Tots. He's amazing!!

  • He was just on the news on Yahoo for finding and depositing over $8000. Found a bank drop bag and went into the bank to deposit it where it belonged. Not really shocking with his upstanding beliefs. (He seemed more worried about the person who dropped it loosing their job.)

  • Yeah, he's awesome human being. He hasn't missed a Marine Corps Ball since the 60s either!

  • IF UR READING THIS - MSG me on MSN. ID is in my profile. s
