im not sure why you would buy an R66 when there are 80s and 90s model jetrangers and md 500s that are half the price with more power and look a thousand times better.
Maintenance, overhaul, and spare parts costs for the JetRanger should be substantially higher, particularly if Bell elects to raise parts prices on the 206 in order to encourage customers to buy its newer 407 design. This is what happened with the Bell 47, the old piston-engine M*A*S*H helicopter. Spare parts got so expensive that it became cheaper for customers to operate the jet-powered 206.
yeah it'll be interesting to see if bell does that. im curious to see how the r66 will do. i just think they should have gone all out with power, looks, and price to match the 407, md 500, and ec 135 but who knows r66 will probably sell pretty well. how will the sfar 73 translate between piston to turbine robinson machines?
no did anyone ask you? in case youre new to youtube thats what people do is post comments and opinions on videos. ur probably one of those people who beat of to robinson
I have been a helicopter enthusiast since I was 8 (quite a few years ago of course), and I had never heard of the R66 until now. Thanks for the update!! I never would have thought that Robinson would go turbine! I used to train on R22's. Kudos to them and to you for getting this rare glimpse!
Was about to write the exact same thing! Will be interesting to see how this one positiones itself in the market relative to its pistonpowered little brothers - as well as light turbines. Pretty much all my rotary time is in R44`s, cant wait to get some airtime in one of these - hopefully in the not so distant future.
Nice! what would you rather have a R66 or an R44?

i think the r66 sounds like the 206 in some ways.

turbines, just rock great heli. The r44 just seems so much more practical for the price

I have to agree with you, xrlk72. For about the same price as the R66 I bought a Eurocopter EC 120 B and to me it is a real helicopter.
Large, smooth, and with a much better rotor system than the R44 (and no doubt R66).
But I am sure the R66 will be successful nevertheless and Robinson do build good value machines.

Robinson is in the right position with the R66
I believe in a few years this will be the #1 selling civilian Turbine Heli like their piston cousins captured the worldwide market.

It's not a stretch to say this is going to be the *final* nail in the Bell JetRanger coffin. Bell has to know this.

Bell has officially stop making the B model. They quit making it as soon as Robinson announced the R66.

good job on catching some vid of the elusive 66. I was down there recently, and it was locked up tight.
