This branch of mathematics tells us that the most complex things come from simplest things. The most simple thing you can think of is nothing at all. You could say that the universe came from nothing using this logic.
Many of the laws of physics are said to have developed the first few seconds after the big bang. They were not applicable at or before (if ever there was a before).

@stokepogue, it's the young that make most of the new discoveries. It's the young that change the direction of science. Einstein was already formulating his theory of special relativity at 18. By 26, it was complete! Einstein achieved very little in middle and old age.
All these "oldies" you see did all their best work as young people. But you don't get recognition until you've achieved a lot, and people have found out what you've achieved, and, by that time, you're getting on in years.
there's never a shortage of idiots in this world, that's why this video doesn't as many views as it should. watching a video like this makes the mind work and the lazy mind doesn't like to work, many people have a lazy mind.
@midwest9595: The issue is not that we are watching more fitness than science or more science than fitness. The issue is we are not watching them both.
Once again Jesus went out beside a Lake. A large crowd came to him and he began to teach them. Mark 2:14 That doesn't sound very satanic to me. Chavez is a satanic name, mexicans were spewed out of lucifer's mouth.

Too massive except when you believe that the totality of things, that nature itself, and the universe itself can be described with the handy word 'God'
Oh, that's fascinating! I thought fractals were conceived of separately, and people just say the M. set is one, but this says that Mandelbrot invented the word!
That statement will require a little explanation, since it doesn't make sense on several superficial levels. The M-set is a set of points--how is a fractal "inside" it? What do you mean by "fractal" when you say that a fractal is "inside" something? Etc.
Yeah, but he said "all other fractals" are inside of it. What does that mean? I don't think that means anything. (In other words, I think he's wrong.) The Mandelbrot set is just one fractal.
1) I don't think you know what the word "deluded" means--it means convincing yourself of something that is not true--almost willfully denying the truth. I may be _wrong_ but I'm certainly not _deluded_ about fractals--I don't have enough emotionally invested in them. (Because I have nothing emotionally invested in them.)
2) Rather than this pointless comment, why not just EXPLAIN how he's right and/or I'm wrong? If you're going to take the time to write, why not take the time to be helpful?
Here's what I've noticed, maybe you haven't noticed it yet. I write what I want to write. See how that works? I'm not sure why you would even offer input. A simple piss off would have done, and yet I wrote what I wrote.
I've noticed that you are good at writing comments with no content whatsoever. You don't say why I'm wrong, and you don't explain why you feel piss off is the same as me teaching you what "deluded" means. What exactly is the POINT of your comments?!
To me the most entertaining thing (when I'm in the right mood) are people WRITING COMMENTS to tell someone else not to write a comment. The stupidity of such a thing is utterly mind-boggling. Like a fractal, such stupidity is limitless in its depth.
I just noticed in addition you're accusing someone of "geekiness" in comments for a video about fractals. As though that would be an insult. You're an idiot.
I don't understand what that has to do with you not knowing what "deluded" means? Here's another word you must not know: "relevant"--ever heard of that word?
You seem to be really interested in my cock. Which would you rather talk about, my cock, or fractals? I suppose if my cock is what you're really interested in, I don't mind talking to you about it. What would you like to know?
(Responding to your message on my profile)--yes, of course it does! It tells me that there are a lot of people like you out there.
To cut to the chase, here is what is wrong with you and those like you: You are insecure, and you have a problem with people who are confident and intelligent, because it highlights your own insecurity and fear of inadequacy. When you first jumped in, I was having a pleasant, non-confrontational conversation with someone about the topic of this video--fractals.
please spare me the psychobabble, im certainly not insecure or have a lack of intelligenceor am i inadequate. sounds like someone has spent a lot of time on the doctors couch delving deep into your own pompous and very patronising head
Dude, you're obviously insecure--what other reason could there possibly be for your retarded original message? And I'm STILL interested in hearing why I'm wrong, which clearly is never going to come from you.
Actually, no, I'm just interested in how people function because they are so unbelievably fucking annoying, such as you. I wish people were rational, but they're not, so I've spent a lot of time figuring out why.
You said "yawn" last time, and you resorted to a message on my profile...
lolz an american calling someone else retarded ppfft the scum of the earth the master race and so on you are so stuck up your own ass, as i said get a girl and you shall feel better
hmmm. How can you, as a christian, consider yourself rational.? I don't want the answer from you. If you are as smart as you claim you will accept this as the RHETORICAL question that it is. LOL.
don't blame the Americans or the christians... what u must do is look at the politicians...and those who figure to prosper from evil.. eg. the NWO and the zionists... Illuminati... don't blame the people for they are IGNORANT
religion as a whole is irrational. it has to be. rational thought cannot grasp the infinite. science and rational thought simply cannot address the questions of infinity in a meaningful way. it requires religion, or irrational thought to provide meaningful answers. it is only through religion that we as intelligent beings can make meaningful connections between the finite(our lives) and the infinite.
very good point add me as a friend. people take the written words in the bibles of different religions far to literally.. its clear they are metaphoric references to induce understandings of things that were at the time unfathomable. god is energy not a man! and to believe he his a man is just the result of being saturation by our egos!
it is because people are brain washed and ignorant...not necessarily stupid, but ignorant. they says Ignorance is bliss. and humans feel safe in this world... of ignorance.
I thought you were done, but you keep coming back. Why? You keep trying to dismiss me, yawn, I'm such a loser, I'm such a bore, and yet you keep trying.
im coming back because little people like you are fun to toy with and fyi "dude" you are very annoying take a peek at the other comments left on your profile as i originally stated you are deluded kid.
For some reason the fact that one person could express an opinion that another is wrong feels like an attack to you. I didn't even say he was wrong--I explained what I don't understand about his comment--my guess is he's wrong, but I wanted to hear his explanation, because I'm interested in the topic!
It's fascinating that you would take the time to write me about that. There is clearly no rational reason for it--it evoked an emotional response in you. Why? It has to be a defense against your insecurity.
Well, yes, in one sense that has to be true. It's an old debate in math, whether mathematicians _invent_ things or _discover_ things. All math, even the proof of Fermat's Last Theorem, in some sense "existed" forever.
Well yeah fractals existed prior to their actual discovery. Relationships between numbers have always EXISTED but have not necessarily been known of due to lack of their discovery. Just like the majority of the world didn't know about Hawaii until Cook discovered it. It was there prior to its discovery, but not known of to most of the world.
Hey, I have a question for smart people. Within the Mandelbrot set, is there a distinction between values that tend to zero, and those that are undefined? (e.g., i, which just goes around in a circle.)
Smitty: wrong. The fractals are there already, you can only write software to show them, much like you might pass smoke over a shape to see the shape.
Sankyaphilosophy is right. Whether you believe in God or not, it's safe to say that God makes them.
they keep on saying it's beautiful, but looks like a bug. or that it's hairy. they should just turn it on it's side and say, "it looks like mirror" or something more pleasant.
Which degenerates put a "dislike" on this video??

no it is not that the numbers that go to zero are the most important its that they are just as important the numbers that iterate forever because if the were no zeroed out numbers than there would be no contrast in the fractal no frame for the picture or background for the figure, basically if there was not the duality of an infinite number and a finite number the mandelbrot set would be textureless, nothing, all things are known by contrast up implies down the same way infinity implies finite

I've noticed that you are good at writing comments with no content whatsoever. You don't say why I'm wrong, and you don't explain why you feel piss off is the same as me teaching you what "deluded" means. What exactly is the POINT of your comments?!
greg5566 2 years ago 2
what is the point of your existence? you absolute bore!don't reply i can't be arsed dealing with your geekiness
murfyness 2 years ago
To me the most entertaining thing (when I'm in the right mood) are people WRITING COMMENTS to tell someone else not to write a comment. The stupidity of such a thing is utterly mind-boggling. Like a fractal, such stupidity is limitless in its depth.
I just noticed in addition you're accusing someone of "geekiness" in comments for a video about fractals. As though that would be an insult. You're an idiot.

get a girlfriend dickhead
murfyness 2 years ago
I don't understand what that has to do with you not knowing what "deluded" means? Here's another word you must not know: "relevant"--ever heard of that word?
greg5566 2 years ago
i told you not repeat not to reply to me! you must be the life and soul of a party , you absolute cock
murfyness 2 years ago
You seem to be really interested in my cock. Which would you rather talk about, my cock, or fractals? I suppose if my cock is what you're really interested in, I don't mind talking to you about it. What would you like to know?
greg5566 2 years ago
yawn
murfyness 2 years ago
(Responding to your message on my profile)--yes, of course it does! It tells me that there are a lot of people like you out there.
To cut to the chase, here is what is wrong with you and those like you: You are insecure, and you have a problem with people who are confident and intelligent, because it highlights your own insecurity and fear of inadequacy. When you first jumped in, I was having a pleasant, non-confrontational conversation with someone about the topic of this video--fractals.
greg5566 2 years ago
please spare me the psychobabble, im certainly not insecure or have a lack of intelligenceor am i inadequate. sounds like someone has spent a lot of time on the doctors couch delving deep into your own pompous and very patronising head
murfyness 2 years ago
Dude, you're obviously insecure--what other reason could there possibly be for your retarded original message? And I'm STILL interested in hearing why I'm wrong, which clearly is never going to come from you.
Actually, no, I'm just interested in how people function because they are so unbelievably fucking annoying, such as you. I wish people were rational, but they're not, so I've spent a lot of time figuring out why.
You said "yawn" last time, and you resorted to a message on my profile...
greg5566 2 years ago
lolz an american calling someone else retarded ppfft the scum of the earth the master race and so on you are so stuck up your own ass, as i said get a girl and you shall feel better
murfyness 2 years ago
people are not rational.
alchemistvstiger 2 years ago 5
hmmm. How can you, as a christian, consider yourself rational.? I don't want the answer from you. If you are as smart as you claim you will accept this as the RHETORICAL question that it is. LOL.
alchemistvstiger 2 years ago
don't blame the Americans or the christians... what u must do is look at the politicians...and those who figure to prosper from evil.. eg. the NWO and the zionists... Illuminati... don't blame the people for they are IGNORANT
guadalupejoe1 2 years ago
religion as a whole is irrational. it has to be. rational thought cannot grasp the infinite. science and rational thought simply cannot address the questions of infinity in a meaningful way. it requires religion, or irrational thought to provide meaningful answers. it is only through religion that we as intelligent beings can make meaningful connections between the finite(our lives) and the infinite.

very good point.
Me2Myself3AndI 2 years ago
very good point add me as a friend. people take the written words in the bibles of different religions far to literally.. its clear they are metaphoric references to induce understandings of things that were at the time unfathomable. god is energy not a man! and to believe he his a man is just the result of being saturation by our egos!
ltgmaddog 2 years ago
it is because people are brain washed and ignorant...not necessarily stupid, but ignorant. they says Ignorance is bliss. and humans feel safe in this world... of ignorance.
guadalupejoe1 2 years ago 3
I thought you were done, but you keep coming back. Why? You keep trying to dismiss me, yawn, I'm such a loser, I'm such a bore, and yet you keep trying.
greg5566 2 years ago
im coming back because little people like you are fun to toy with and fyi "dude" you are very annoying take a peek at the other comments left on your profile as i originally stated you are deluded kid.
murfyness 2 years ago
For some reason the fact that one person could express an opinion that another is wrong feels like an attack to you. I didn't even say he was wrong--I explained what I don't understand about his comment--my guess is he's wrong, but I wanted to hear his explanation, because I'm interested in the topic!
greg5566 2 years ago
It's fascinating that you would take the time to write me about that. There is clearly no rational reason for it--it evoked an emotional response in you. Why? It has to be a defense against your insecurity.
greg5566 2 years ago
i think that fractals had been around before him, he just coined the term
Esscex 3 years ago
Well, yes, in one sense that has to be true. It's an old debate in math, whether mathematicians _invent_ things or _discover_ things. All math, even the proof of Fermat's Last Theorem, in some sense "existed" forever.
greg5566 3 years ago 3
Yeah. Everything that can be found already exists =)
Snipler 3 years ago 4
because existence is one of infinite possibilities
Whitetestament 3 years ago
Well yeah fractals existed prior to their actual discovery. Relationships between numbers have always EXISTED but have not necessarily been known of due to lack of their discovery. Just like the majority of the world didn't know about Hawaii until Cook discovered it. It was there prior to its discovery, but not known of to most of the world.

Hey, I have a question for smart people. Within the Mandelbrot set, is there a distinction between values that tend to zero, and those that are undefined? (e.g., i, which just goes around in a circle.)
greg5566 3 years ago
who makes fractals?
jamierourketen 3 years ago
God does.
Sankyaphilosophy 3 years ago
Anyone can. You can download software to draw them, and any iterative formula will give you a fractal of some form.
Smitty183 3 years ago
Smitty: wrong. The fractals are there already, you can only write software to show them, much like you might pass smoke over a shape to see the shape.
Sankyaphilosophy is right. Whether you believe in God or not, it's safe to say that God makes them.

Mate, if 'God' makes anything, it's Oreos.
Heaven!

ya gotta love this Pink Floyd-like music they use with the Mandelbrot animations.

Yeah, it's actually by the guitarist for Pink Floyd, David Gilmore
