GOD this song is orgasmic. I'm only 20 and I wish I were aroundto seee the true emo scene. although you guys would hate me cause I look like today's emo kids)
Christie Front Drive is the most underrated band I have ever heard, Amazing!! I just wish I found them out before they broke up! O ya the lead singer of mineral is a pussy! lol, his lyrics and voice is annoying as shit!!
I think it really doesn't matter if midwest emo bands aren't popular. Actually I'm glad that they're not for many reasons including the fact that i feel fortunated and enjoy them all the more.
However there's one problem, I can't find the lyrics anywhere ^^ Does anyone know them cause I can't get them while listening ?
funny how after all this time, they call this 'music emo kids like to make out to' lol..its so much more, i doubt most of the emo kids now even know about this stuff. The scene look is cute and all but I appreciate how most these bands in the 90's looked like regular guys without eyeliner..something just down to earth and real about it all..maybe I'm just a purist. anyway, thanks for posting!
@LuciteRabbit early 90's indie died. It's sad, since I wasn't ever able to experience that social scene. Instead, I got stuck with the kids getting into this new age hardcore, and whatever the hell this crunk core is. How could things go from Embrace and Cap'n Jazz to Brokencyde?
I'm not gonna lie, I'm a 16 year old kid who straightens his hair every morning and what not, but I literally listen to every everything I can. In my opinion, you should do whatever you think is cool, and I guess I just like the cliche haircut, it's just sad that sometimes fashion presides over the actual music.
@LuciteRabbit the problem is that you are taking what the mainstream media is calling 'emo' and letting that judge what your perception is. there are several very talented bands playing real 90s emo today. you just cant confuse them.
@lazerbones The World Is a Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die is a good example, though I tend to lean more towards the jawbreaker spectrum
@LuciteRabbit I'm a 25 year old dude, so some of the music I love being synonymous with kids who weren't even alive when this was produced used to irritate me a lot. A while back, in one of my courses, one of the books that we read had a really good series of interviews with Ian Mackaye and he said something particularly profound regarding hurtful epithets- He refuses to speak the language of intolerance/hate because none of it applies to how he sees the world.
similar to Mineral but I'd say slightly more upbeat. Yeah this is one of my favs by them so far - I'm just getting into them. thanks for uploading this, wicked band, way underrated.
@eatdogs hey, i was in mineral and we would have been nothing if it weren't for kerry from cfd. bands like this, boys life, giants chair, boilermaker, etc... no one would have ever heard the likes of us, not to mention much better bands. gw
@TheHellawaitsyou Hey man just wanted to thank you for the music you made. Bands like Mineral, CFD, Compound Red, etc... really changed the way I looked at music and inspired me and many others to do the same. I'll always have a special place in my heart for the music and the moments that went with it.
i guess it all depends on the bands you listened to back then. the only time i ever got to see them live, the venue was PACKED, and everyone knew the songs.
maybe he means on a more comercial level, which for me is a moot point. But yeah, on the indie scene they were huge. J.E.W. notes them as one of their favorite bands.

@Torkulguy
Brokencyde is terrible, yes, but I actually enjoy a lot of the new hardcore and pop punk. I'm pretty much open to anything.

No... they really aren't. Well, at least not anymore.
If they were more popular, I'm sure I wouldn't have the only studio-version of this song uploaded to youtube.
