With regard to the poster's comment about naming games with as much incredible action "but you can't", I would respectfully suggest West Germany v France in Spain 1982, which finished 3-3, saw the Germans recover from 3-1, had a penalty shoot-out, and featured the greatest refereeing injustice ever - an absolutely vicious assault by Schumacher on Battiston which left him unconscious minus at least 2 teeth and yet went unpunished. Now THAT was an action-packed game too.
Cera's foul was just outside the box, definitely...press pause when contact is made and you will see...but Germany had a legitimate claim for a penalty when Bertini pulled down Seeler
I was too young to remember however this world cup seems to be the best one ever, am i right here? 1978 had some brilliant goals though but was spoiled by cheating.
I don´t care what anybody says..this was and still is the game of the century!!..And I was lucky to have been there!!! A guevooooooooooo!!! El mejor partido de todos los tiempos!!!!
The greatest World Cup game of all time, no doubt. Fantastic goal by Riva. Forza Azzurri!! But the incredible extra-time cost us the final as we tired badly in the last 25 minutes, allowing Brazil to score three times. For an hour we were a match for them.
Maybe, it was a fantastic Brazilian team with great stamina as well as skill...but there's no doubt the extra 30mins against Germany took its toll on Italy in the last quarter of the final
But then again Italy benefitted in this semi final because their opponent Germany had played 120 minutes against then World Champions England in ruthless heat in the quarterfinal. So Italians excusing the 1-4 vs. Brazil in the final should think about their own advantage in this game.
yes, wouldn't disagree with you...that explains why germany were second best in extra-time. any side that played extra-time in those conditions was going to be at a disadvantage in the next game
@stadioazteca Plus, Beckenbauer played most of the game with his arm strapped to his chest, because he dislocated his shoulder. So it's hard to feel too sorry for Italy, all things considered. It was an immortal game.
My father was watching on T.V

Germany should have gotten a penalty when Beckenbauer was tripped .. AGREED.
Who was the referee in this match , Ray Charles ?

the foul was outside the box so it's a free-kick not a penalty

Look again carefully. That was definitely inside the box, and thus a penalty.

Brazil would have beaten Italy even if the italians were not "too tired".
