I'm upset by this report that the US navy has only 11 carriers. If you count the Harrier carriers of countries like Spain and Italy, then you have to count the Assault ships of the US navy as well.

The problem with this is that the aircraft carrier is a purely offensive weapon. If you claim that you only want protection, then you don't need an aircraft carrier, which is an exclusively offensive weapon. So China's development of such weapons shatters their claims that their weapons development are for defense purposes only. So the question that must be asked is: who is China planning to attack?

This is hilarious in so many ways. During the Cold War the Soviet Union went around doing the EXACT same things that people criticize the US/NATO for doing in places like Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan. The only reason they stopped is because they collapsed and could no longer sustain those types of operations any longer. China doesn't do it because they can't. Their military isn't strong enough yet. They are already starting to pick on Taiwan and Vietnam. Just give it a few years.

@energyalt56 US relies on Pak (has been since the late 50's) & would not attack them. Bit IF USA did attack Pak, there is very little that China could do about it militarily (besides issuing verbal "ultimatums"), considering that China currently lacks formidable military force projection. Only way US would attack Pak, is if Pak supplied terrorists with a nuke. If that happens, all the Russian/Chinese threats in the world, would probably not stop the US from a preemptive strike.
