Found myself getting teary eyed while listening to these songs. I instantly recognized all of them in a warm way. Sounds from the golden age of PC gaming.
I didn't hear much of the other music while playing. Only 3-4 first songs, and it would start replaying the first track if I went to options to change volume and other things. Fortunately it was one of them discs that could be played in a CD player, so I got to enjoy rest of the tracks, too.
I miss the game. I really didn't know what to do (I was too young), but I had fun enough fooling around. My warrior of choice was some of the jetpack ones, and I would fly high, crashland and crush my legs.
This used to be the ONLY thing I ever listened to. My iTunes shows that I've listen to each song at least 400 times. Some songs go to like 7,000-10,000. I just love these songs. Now I listen to other game backgound music lol! (Like Nintendo games and Warcraft II games) I also listen to techno music like Sandstorm and Exploration of Space. Thumbs up if you are like me.
Mechwarrior... what you going to do about it... who thinks it died? =P I just hope we can atleast can ONE more mechwarrior game at least in 2 or 3 years =P
Argh! Freedom fight, i remember sticking ppc's and heavy lasers all over my mechs and going spaz everytime i heard that song only to have my mech overheat and shutdown in the most undramatic way.
This game was amazing, i was about 8 when i had this and did not really understand the game (hence sticking really stupid weapon loadouts on my mechs). Shame i never played the pc version but the console version was probably more user friendly for 8 yr old noobs like me at the time.
@Gelgo0g I used to put fucking missiles on my mech's LEGS. Yeah I shot missiles from my kneecaps. Still, good times lol. These songs really bring me back.
I played this game for PC when computer games were new and untapped. 14 years later its easily still one of the best PC games if you look passed its graphics.
You know a game is awesome when it was made in a time where there was almost no competition and no market, but is as high quality as it is.
Ahh, sweet nostalgia... i remember playing this as a kid. Gotterdamerung remains one of my favorite video game songs, and i have to say that as beautiful as the music is, it's oh so much better while you're playing the mission -- it just fits perfectly
Really, you have never never played MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries? YOu're missing out on a spectacular game! And you can't really say nothing beats 31 Century Combat until you have played all the games.
@juliousMaximous: yes, in combination with the unique female voice of the battlemech computer, which does not appear in any other mechwarrior game (see my only video for reference)
I remember that a a magazine once said that the soundtrack of this game was not good, I bet the reviewers just played the training levels :) this game soundtrack its one of the best of all time, at least for me it is :)
This is only the top 5 songs from the OST. There are actually almost 20 OST songs. I have uploaded most of them (though they are a bit unorginized.) I don't have the same version of Exodus that Andy has uploaded here and the songs sound slightly different.
wow, I remember playing this in my crappy Compaq PC back in 1999 or 2000, can't remember, been too long
