  • great!

    thank you so much

  • Great video but there is one point you should point out. The conjugation of the "capability" form or potential is dropping ru and adding rareru (example taberu to taberareru). Tabereru is only used in informal speech and is grammatically incorrect.

  • OMG OMG Thanks soooo much! This made my life so much easier! I wish they wouldve taught me this in school instead of just plain memorization! thanks again!

  • .__. OMG... This made it 10x's easier for me. I thought i had to remember every single conjugation... but you just made it easy to remember :D thank you.

  • Amazing video!! Thank you so much this is the best explanation on verbs I have received! You're teaching is the best ♪( ´θ`)ノありがとう!

But I have a question..does anyone think I should learn kanji before grammar/verbs? Or speaking/grammar then kanji? I already know katakana and hiragana by the way~!

  • So if you're in a formal situation where you 're saying "Let's eat", would you use tabemasu or tabeyou?

  • @ubiquitousrevolt The formal version is tabemashou.

  • superbly done!!

  • Why isn't this widely used? This is amazing :D

  • There is no Japanese alphabet, there are no letters. But this is a great video.

  • @arbide3 There is an alphabet an alphabet is a writing system of phonetic tones which Japanese has (katakana hiragana).

  • great video.... just a quick note though.. 走る may end in "iru" sound but it is actually godan verb...because the masu form is はしりますand if this verb was ichidan the te formw ould be はしりてbut it't not..it's 走って(はしって...Most -eru/-iru sound verbs will be ichidan (or type 2 verbs that u mention) but there are always exceptions which is annoying.... you could substitute the "hashiru" with "abiru" :-) cheers..

  • Thank you so much!

  • This is THE best Japanese learning tool I have ever seen! Thank you so much for putting this together.

  • I love you.

  • Haha omg like everyone else said, this is exactly what I've needed. It's so amazing that none of my grammar reference books or anything have simple instructions like this. Then again it might be I'm an auditorial learner.

  • Outstanding material. Crystal clear instructions, thank you for creating this video it has greatly help me. Greetings from Barcelona,

    Leo

  • This is exactly what I needed! But then what is -masen for negative and -mashou for presumptive?

  • @creamsodaluvr -masen=negative formal i thought... I'm not totally sure but I remember something like that...

  • Big thank you for your POWERFUL lesson.

  • I FRIKEN LOVE YOU MAN! verbs have always been SO very hard for me now verbs won't kick my ass I'll kickTHEIRS!

  • you are like a god man your just grate

  • OMG YOU ARE MY HERO!!! :DD

Thank you!! I spent three years and four months in Japan floudering in the language, so much so that I didn't even realize "dekiru" was just the capability form of "suru." This is so helpful!

*sorry about the error in the last comment*

  • OMG YOU ARE MY HERO!!! :DD

Thank you!! I spent three years and four months in Japan floudering in the language, so much so that I didn't even realize "dekiru" was just the conditional form of "suru." This is so helpful!

  • oh my god I sooooo needed this THANK YOU!

  • Hee, this is absolutely great! I couldn't find anything about Japanese verbs, you are my hero!

But I have a question. Are all those forms (negative, polite etc.) all diferent verbs or can you use those with every person (I, you, he, we etc, which I still don't know what those are in Japanese :() This is just the Present, right?

    Arigatou!!!

  • the "let's" form is actually called the "presumptive" form which means probably. Yes I guess you can also use it as a let's form and it would come out as "shall we" as in ikimashou which means "shall we go".

  • The irregulars don't actually look THAT far off from the regular rules, I only really see a slight variation. seems easy enough.

  • question on the capability form. I am taking a Japanese class at my school and for the capability form I was taught "rareru" but you are saying "reru". Are they the same?

    Great vid btw
