Ya i grew up ther too and in 20+ years there was never interest in the caves being sacred. they did not go that far anyways. The bear mtn intchng is a good thing as it will keep trafic flowing, thus resulting in less idling of vechiles.the protstors are not going to stop it just delay it,Money is always gonna win! With all the shady deals going on in langford and with Bear mtn i am surprised there arnt snipers in the trees.People have to get over it and realize thers more important things in life
sorry but as an urban planning student at UBC i can tell you that the line about how wider roads are good because they reduce idling etc is complete bullshit. as long as there is a road cars will fill it to capacity - it was a lesson learned wayyyy back in the 1950's in New York under Robert Moses (read Jane Jacobs "Death and Life of Great American Cities) - you will never make them wide enough or build enough of them.
we've got to be thinking progressively through new forms of transportation, and new forms of intensified central mixed-use development. what we're doing now is completely backwards, and unbelievably ignorant of basic urban and environmental principals. this is why we need an educated electorate calling the shots rather than developers and their unethical bottom line.

I do personally think they should just make Millstream road wider. 2 Lanes from the Parkway (which was built bad to begin with and should be 2 lanes all the way up) to Treanor ave and then 3 lanes till the firestation on Peatt Road. But by stalling the protest at the interchange is affecting more people then you realize. Not to mention that Langford is growing at a rapid pace so the new interchange is needed. I will be the first to say that the Langford municipality is stupid in the growth dept
you guys are fucking dumb they should log every fucking tree in langford who gives a flying fuck why dont you go apply at mc donalds because you obv have to much time on your hands if you can sit there and hold a fucking sign all day and not get paid. ohh i forgot you get welfare all you hippys are fucked in the head.
well its not a done deal, theres still stuff we can do about it. Bear mountain thinks that we can protest all we want, fill up the papers and expose what theyre doing, in the end, theyre the big rich friends of the city. It's an outright crime, they never held a fair referendum. when they did have a meeting, they flooded it full of developers, and actually selected which people could enter. that was totally unfair.
The city is being totally undemocratic.. we need to write to a higher authority
It's sad to see what's going on here. I grew up playing in that very spot around the cave but that has little effect on my feelings. I don't like seeing things destroyed for maximum profits. I have no problem with people making a living or even getting rich but I don't think people with such disregard for the environment should be allowed in a position of such power.
