Vardiss.. The reason the F-16 was used is becasue the USAF would not stand behind a film where it shows one of their aircraft stolen. If you ever notice, all the Iron Eagles are filmed in Israeli that uses F-16s. Im sure if the USAF would have changed their policy then the F-15 would have been used. The script was already done, and the USAF would not budge on there policies there for we have the F-16 for the movie.

Its true something like that is very improbable ( wont say impossible cause thats when the stars align and next thing I see on the news is just that ) but it for sure made for a great 80s movie, and the music made it just that much better.

Strange that the f-15 never got featured in a movie in the 80's...a much cooler and more kick ass fighter then the f-16 ..the Air Force really missed a big chance by not promoting it like the Navy did with f-14 in Top Gun

Yes there is an Iron eagle 3, it is refered to as "Aces", and there is evan a part 4 that is rather disappointing, it is where u find doug masters is really alive..look on amazon you should find it..happy huntin.

Scenes from one of the worst movies ever. At least with the worst plot ever: 18 year old learns to fly a F-16 in 3 days, and together with some friends talks the Air Force to lend it to him in order to free his father trapped by one-dimensional vilains in some unnamed Arab country. Just plain stupid. At least it was released a few weeks prior to Top Gun, otherwise you could also accuse it of ripping this one off as well.

The enemy country is anonymous but it is supposed to be Lybia. In the real world "daffy quadaffi" claimed something like 200 miles of national waters and airspace(vs 15 allowed by international treaties) so the US ran "freedom of navigation" partols. However we never lost a plane to those suckers
