they maybe old but they still do the job required. I wonder how many business's were started with and perhaps ended with those machines in their lifetimes..you're 1 out of that many that those old birds have been there to help ya along the way heh
any chance thats a d318 in that old d6? I own a d318 marine with an mg 61 3:1 twin disc transmission. would like to know how powerful that engine would be compared to compared to todays Cats? syas the hp is 80?...but im told it has more torque than a similar engine in todays cats. judging by the way that dozer easily moved that big d9 id say it has a hell of a lot of torque!
@porpoisefathom one of the reasons for the old ones having more torque is they have true standard trannys verses the new style hydra torques, a true standard will always have more toque
20 machines. I don't own them. I am related to the person who does. We do use them when there is a job to do. I operate the camera, machines and help fix the ones that need fixing. This is a poor man's equipment. The youngest machine we have is a 1997 D5M.
thats all my grampa had for his construction company, mostly old terex equipment. even after he died a few years back its still going with the old machines. gotta love that old iron.

Only thing is an old guy who owned Cats said:
"If you're gonna try to fix up a Cat remember:
anything that has YELLOW PAINT on it is gonna
COST A FORTUNE!"

Its a testament to CATs skillful engineering that these old beauties are still around today.
The D9G and H models are the finest machines ever.
They dont build dozers like they used to!
Thanks
