Who does this crackpot think he is? National prerogative far extends the future of the world, otherwise there is no "promise for our future generation" to enjoy. Just let the world go on, the ice caps melt and people evolve - it's what defines our kind.
The standard/goal difference is interesting - there is no world standard for goals, we have big ambitions for where we (western nations) want to be in 20 years when some countries are functioning as we did in the 1960s. We should be aiming for equality more than anything.
is equality realistic? Drought stricken areas, or places which have little resources to make money from - can we expert them to get to the same level of development as places which have always been prosperous?
Haha true what he said about the kids.. I always thought that adults have the answers - was a bit tough realising that they don't - everyones just trying to figure it out!
I can't help but wonder if eco-marketing and companies whose greatest difference from their competitors is their 'environmentally conscience', will still be using this slant in 10 years. Fad or the way of the future?
I think that most people put "world problems" in the too hard basket. With such cultural, political, religious, environmental and economic differences there will never be just once answer. Each country, town, village and household need to take responsibility for themselves.
Your advice is indeed a good thing to keep in mind.

Roger's kids sound smart. Perhaps we should get a bunch of 10 year olds to solve these problems. No beaurocracy, simple ideas - perfect!

It's very well to say that governments are too 'national minded' to want to solve world problems - but isn't that just it - Start small, then go big?

Selon moi, il faut que les gouvernements prennent la responsibilité.. On ne peut pas faire rien sans l'assistance des organisations comme leurs.

Can't wait to see how the UN will transform as it branches out to new networks.

It seems like rules made in the 2000 were by in large PR stunts which have died away.

The UN involving businesses and entrepreneurs will certainly give them the power - in both funding and reach - that they've needed for a long time.
