This is an isomorphic instrument. I recommend you look into these type of instruments. This isomorphic tuning is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. It will allow you to become a competent player in approximately 1/12th the time of a regular instrument. When I discovered it, I felt like a door had been unlocked in my brain. All the musical concepts that were so difficult to master/understand, suddenly became crystal clear. Kudos, and God Bless Marcodi. Also check out C-thru musics axis-49.
I heard Rudess play this on the other vids, go there if you want to check it out like the range and how it's unique. I want one but it looks difficult xD
@alonzoscragg: This is just one sound example; you can process the signal in any manner you like. I don't try to emulate guitar on mine at all (I'd rather just play my guitar). If you spent some time with a harpejji, you might find yourself approaching it very differently than keys or guitar. I do. It's quite inspiring and expressive in it's own way.
respectfully.. what's the point of this instrument? it doesn't have the subtleties of the electric guitar that its trying to emulate, and is not nearly as chordally efficient as a keyboard.... "just sayin®
If by "too similar" you mean they both have frets and strings, well . . . okay. But I've never seen a "common guitar" with 24 strings tuned in whole steps, or with a range down to the lowest note on a piano, or which allows you to play eight-note chords. It's a bit like saying the dobro is cool, but too similar to an acoustic guitar.
would love to see petrucci shredding on one of these!!
