I usually use the Backburner, shotgun and powerjack for my pyro loadout as it makes ambushing enemies much, MUCH easier. Bring down an entire squad of dudes with the back burner, or light a guy on fire then shotgun him/smash his head in with the powerjack and get some HP back.
