Wow.. now im all for big set-ups with a lot of subs....... but I've hit 142 db's on a termlab at a midwest comp.. and 146 (with 2 10's At .5 ohm/ 2.2 cu. ft. per) after we re-tuned and added exta mat. So to look and see al the subs, yes it is cool and not cheap, vbut you can achieve so much more then you think with a 2 or 4 sub set-up.. So yes it's cool and props. but not for me.

SPL is sound pressure level, which simply means the power at which the sound hits you. So could meade possibly have something on this guy? maybe. Cause like you said, its harder to hit high decibels with low Hz.

divide woofer size by 2. Multiply them together. Then multiply by 3.14.

Example: 15" sub.

Half of that is 7.5

7.5 * 7.5 = 56.25

56.25 * 3.14 = 176.625 sq. in. of cone area.

figure out who technically should be louder by efficieny gained by using multiple speakers and cone area + power.

Then there's the box they are put in. IIRC only 20% of what you hear is produced by the sub itself. The rest comes from the box and its construction.
