I just don't hear the supposed similarities to Mastodon at all. I hate mastodon except that song they did for the ATHF movie, well 'hate' is a really strong word, I'm not a fan though... Yet this band is among my favorites.

Mastodon being from Atlanta, and Baroness being from Savannah. Georgia pumps out some sick bands for sure, Black Tusk and Kylesa being just a couple as well!

I think the reason I keep listening to these guys is the drummer. The vocals aren't enjoyable or creative, or varied, and I can get guitar just like this with Pelican. But that drummer. His work is just so . . . interesting.
