  • Lastly, you say you don't care what white people think, but you say at 1:43 that if you were a member of another race you would laugh and think it's childish. So which is it? Do you care or don't care? Weave started out as a way to assimilate, to combat racism which still exists today. So I don't feel that putting down women who aren't comfortable with it like it's completely their fault is a helpful or productive point without historical/societal context. And that's all I gotta say, brother.

  • It's not what's on your head it's what's in it. Granted, the outside often reflects whats on the inside, but its too simplistic to say you are self hating unless you wear your hair natural. It IS self hating to be shooting each other up, putting each other down, hating and competing with each other, light vs dark, old vs young, man vs woman just like willie lynch wanted. Go head ladies and do whatever you want and don't listen to these peoplewho try to police you. This is coming from a NATURAL.

  • What about when black men brush waves, to emulate a certain hair texture? Or never let their natural hair grow long (always wear it short) or get line ups, even though I hear that is not good either and can make you go bald faster? Before you go dogging black women and grouping us all up, and basically saying we are self hating if we don't all have a fro... I suggest people who agree with this vid take a good hard look at our ENTIRE community, men and women.

  • For SOME people it can be an act of self hatred, not all women. I am a 21 year-old natural (for years)... and I rock a wig or weave when I feel like it, although that's rare. I would perm again, if I felt like it. I also don't do things based on "white standards," and I don't do things for what men think... You are perfectly free to think these things are ugly and self hating... and I can also think that you are out of line for policing black women and grouping us all.

  • Majority of black women wear fake hair that's mimics the hair of other races and that's a sad fact. (not to mention we make Koreans millions of dollars that could otherwise benefit our own community).

  • Other races of women do wear fake hair. HOWEVER, how often do you see non-black women wearing fake afro wigs or other black natural hairstyles (and pls don't let a RARE case scenario represent the collective).? When a white woman wears a blonde, straight wig that hair mimics her natural hair. When a black woman wears blond, straight hair (or the hair type of any other race) it does not mimic her natural hair and its obvious that its FAKE.

  • Not ta be racist but even sum white females wear weaves ...I understand everyone has an opinion but black arent the only one who have done it....like seriously grow up lol ...jus dont date em lol n who cares wat u think anyway....I just had ta watch ur vid wen it popped up lol to funny

  • I've never worn a weave in my life & never will but that's my choice. There are a plethora of reasons for why some black women choose to wear weaves, & just because they prefer to wear weaves doesn't neccessarily mean their bald head. But you certainly have a right to your preference.

  • @lokeysSucksAss....you hatin on Lokeys?...AND Black Women?.....he musta took a black woman from you that wore a weave huh?....smh....Don't hate becoz YOU can get a black woman.Followin that dude around hatin on him....Ya just sad.

  • why are black women getting so mad and offended by this mans opinion? calling him names and insulting him is not going to change how he feels, now me I dont care about the next bitch or her fake ass hair to me it only looks bad when they get hella long weave ewww stay in the realm of reality ladies there is no such thing as a bad or "real" bitch with 22 inch weave lol

  • Bald head nigger bitches.

  • @blackdudemedia....Isa Abdulla....what?..and please don't tell me you have a white man's last name!....You came to Detroit by way of?....birth or boat?...Here we are African American Women trying to feel good about our creativity and self assuredness and you harp on us because we like to manage our hair differently?...Are we putting you down because you are not the "best dressed" Black man we've ever seen?...or the most handsome of men we've ever seen?..No!...Uplift..LIFT UP!..Idiot!

  • thx for the energetic response @coffEKolor.

  • A lot of women simply find weaves/wigs easier to manage on a daily basis. Plus it looks good. Less work and still looks good is a win. That doesn't mean they hate their own hair, but I see where you're coming from. It can also be a method of giving your own hair a break in order to grow it out.

  • this is sad... and i hate when people bring up africa... in africa this is not an issue we love everything about our hair!!

  • So basically if a white woman wears weave, wigs, perms... They are trying to be more white then they already are? Lol! Dont judge the whole blavk community because you may not know if they has/had any medical issues & wear weave just to be comfortable!! 99% of these celebrities wear weaves & wigs, its not only the BLACK community. I respect ur opinion but u sound ignorant!

  • And Black Women Says Suck My Dick. Its Nobodies Business POINT BLANK PERIOD What ANYBODY Does With There Self. Stfu And Grow The Fuck Up. Your Never Gonna Get A Girl Worrying About There Hair. GO GAY Df

  • Every time I hear this argument it sounds kind of racist to me. People have used physical affectations to express themselves since before recorded history. I fail to see how a wig or weave is any different than facial hair, tattoos, piercings, flashy clothes, and so on. For instance; your button down, jeans, and lo-top sneakers are pretty much my daily attire. Does that mean you are trying to look white? Women alter their appearance mainly because men are primarily visually oriented, that's it.

  • Iam nature but I sometime were weave an I love my nature hair but I also like weave I

  • he likes natural hair!

he means good, i think he just thinks only black ppl get their hair done

when whites used to get perms and wear extensions

its just that weaves and black people are more known about i guess

but he could have been nicer

  • @narunoting understan that you are not by far the first to make this comment on this video. i will respond by saying we as individuals dont have to create standards for ourselves based on what other people or groups do. this maybe be complex for many but that is the way i think. -blackdudemedia

  • i am a black woman i never wore weave. I have soft permed hair. My grandmother had really naturally long hair. she never permed nor wore weave. think before you post these videos.

  • i did @SARISS80, for years actually.

  • Oh great, another "artist." Lol.

  • GOD WANTS US THE BLACK WOMAN TO LOOK GOOD, ITS NOT ABOUT THE WHITE MAN OR WOMAN, MARTIN LUTHER KING GAVE US THE RIGHT TO DO WHAT WE, YOU AND ME TO SAY AND DO WHAT WE WANT (SO, I HOPE YOUR WOMAN IS HAPPY) THAT ALL THAT MATTER

  • well in my opinion i don't care about black women or men having straight hair what you are saying is that people will laugh at those people and if you were in there shoes you would want to be laugh at them it's their decision to be different you still live in the dark ages saying that black people should not be like whites be your own people and stick to their culture but what I see is that people are coming together and not caring about skin but a person actions in my opinion you should grow up

  • just like saying why do white people dye their hair? is it because they hate their hair so much or can it just be the fact that they want a little more style to their hair. since you are so tired of seeing black women wearing weave move to africa and you will see a lot more women wearing their natural hair

  • dont sell yourself so short as to allow the exceptable standard to be dictated by anyone but you @farah2619

  • I think it's disgusting how so many black men are uneducated, broke, in jail, etc, etc, wear pants falling off of them, can barely speak, don't read, I can go on, worry about your own issues. And stop worrying about mine.

  • However a black woman wears her hair is her own personal choice that's not because she's tryna be white. That's like me saying your wearing a collared shirt to imitate a white man. You don't like seeing black women with weave close your eyes. Oh and by the way white women wear weave to.

  • As an African American woman, I must say that I have been growing my hair natural for the last 7 to 8 months...however, because of the texture of my hair...it has always been easier to perm so that I can obtain the hairstyles I like to wear out to work/ etc. I have very thick, curly roots so when I comb thru it can be hard to manage at times. I must say that I love my natural hair now that I have learned how to manage it-but it does take more"work" to maintain & that is why I used to do perms.

  • I have very healthy hair and I wear a weave because of the benefits of protecting my hair. Sew in weaves make my hair grow without it breaking off and to me, this is the best way to make my hair grow. I am 16 and i garantee you that I can make my hair look better luk better than a white girl's, straight or kinky by the time Im done with my hair journey. Just let it be.Women wear weaves for many different reasons because they Want to. NOTHING WRONG WITH IT.

  • YOU NEED TO SHUT UP!

  • Who give's a FUCK ABOUT YOUR OPINION.

I am getting sick and tired of sticking up for black people on YOUTUBE and then people like you, turn around and undo the self esteem and confidence of black women.

Go away u sick puppy GO GET STUFFED!

  • actually about 715,000 or so.

  • Isaa Abdulla... From Detroit... So YOU'RE one of the, ?what, 96 people

    left in that ghost city.

  • lets have a weave tax and licence allowing only 80 days of the year for weave usage

  • And we are laughing, by the way! lol

  • I wouldn't mind if the weaves looked realistic! lol

  • i am old enough to remember when black men straightned and processed their hair to look like white hair, then the civil rights and black men became proud of their african heritage so it became cool to look african.the black woman lost her desire to look natural somehow..those weaves look obviously PHONY.if you must weave at least get one kinky.

  • Because guys don't like girls with nappy hair...employers don't like natrual hairstyles and it scares people. We are not considered beautiful. When do you see a natrual women excepted into the mainstream? I'm personally natural but I am on a constant basis ridiculed for what my hair looks like everybody pokes fun and laughs at me. I hate it and it sucks. Thank you for bringing this issue up because it is sad and true.

  • @Jacquelyn104 omg i know exactly what you're talking about the only tin with me is it makes me hate black men more than it makes me hate my self. i don't hate myself at all. its sad to say but this is why i say blacks are their own worst enemy

  • @blackdudemedia,...

AWWWW SHEEEIIT BROTHA' PREACH SOME MAAHHFAAKIN' TRUTH!! That weave and relaxer boolesheeit is for suckas'!!! I'm right with you on that, in fact i will not have anything to do with the the weaved up/relaxed bitch out here in America! But the natural sista' with her self worth intact....Now that's in my WHEELHOUSE!!

  • Fact: Most white stars wear lace/wigs, extension etc this is not limited to black women. Not ALL black women wear extensions etc because they don't have hair! Stop generalizing!!! Not all wear weaves or wigs either! I have very long hair and people automatically assume it's a weave as if black women can't have long hair. Look around You tube you will see plenty! Wigs, weaves etc is used by women of ALL ethnic back grounds. Black women are just more open about it, We are REAl about the fake!!

  • perhaps i should put it this way Au3and3 i like nappy hair on my woman. is that so shocking?

  • @blackdudemedia not at all, but just don't generalize.

  • @Au3and3 , just like you said..."WHITE STARS", but most white bitches go natural. I saw that Chris Rock movie "Good Hair" and a white chemist was shocked that Black folk put Lye in our hair? An ACID that can melt and dissolve METAL!! This self hatin' shit has got to come to close at some point, we have to stop making excuses for our self loathing. If you are a sista, get that fuckin' weave out your head, and get the fuck off of the relaxer. Youre just as beautiful without it, Trust me!!

  • @nagone11 Brother this is such a none issue;focus on something more serious then hair.I do not have a weave or a perm as I do not need it, but I don't see anything wrong with someone wanting a change in appearance. You should stop calling women "bitches" you do not need to curse to get your point across! I would love for you the address your black brothers that pass on the natural hair sista because he wants a women where he can run his hand through her hair.. how about that brotha?

  • @Au3and3 , those brothas are self hatin' too, this is not just applied to the women folk! Like i said the weave loving brotha or sister is a SUCKA'! This focus is very serious because this gets right down to the very heart of our problems in America. We know white folk kind'a hate us all over in many ways....why do we have to hate ourselves?? This affects our self image, so performance in school, our crime rates and teenage pregnancy, drug use all have some bearing on this very point right here!

  • @Au3and3 ,........ this is in so many ways the very crux of our problem. So no i won't worry about too much else, this is a symtom of our sickness. I will say this, when we see more black folk wearing less weaves, people straightening their hair less and proud of their natural looks, we too shall see less teenage pregnancy, kids doing better in school, black folk will be more unified and we will overall do better. Why?? Because we will love ourselves a little bit more, thus being more unified.

  • @Au3and3 , Oh and one other thing....I have a place in Brasil, and I go down there a great deal especially Salvador, Bahia. Our sisters down there are a bit different from you skewed up off the fuckin' track broads up here. Self hatin and all, i ain't gonna lie, most of ya'll make me fuckin' sick! I can't stand ya'll for the most part. But them folk in that part love how they look all natural, Braids are big with the long natural style too. Damn them women look GREAT! I just can't get enough....

  • @Au3and3 .... I love black women, but i just can't stand the Gringa with her shit attitude, all weaaaved up, relaxed down and trying to go like that shit is sumthin' special?? Pitiful, damn pitiful. So I'm a traveller, i speak Portugese fluently(more black folk speak portugese than english, spansh, french combined) Spanish fluently, some French, Russian, Italian, and Swahili which I'm studying now. Most real brothas' should get out the USA for a while and look at the rest of the world, ........

  • @Au3and3 , ..., he like me will see ya'll are some bullshit! The sista who travels to other lands, speaks different languages and gets a bit wider view of the world will she she is some bullshit too and will adjust her view and behaviour. There is a wider african view out there, look at all the hot spots now, Middleast and Africa, so keep your eyes open! Most women in Africa, yes South Africa too ain't super weaved and relaxed like ya'll. I run my hand through a natural Brasileira every night!

  • white women are not the only women with straight hair..we are not slaves anymore, with someone telling us what we are/are not allowed to do. If we like long, short, straight, curled or natural. It's our choice. I really like the weave, but with my weave (recently started wearing because i want to go natural) or without, I exuberate the soul of a Beautiful Black Woman, and when I enter a room you feel it!

  • To each his own. But weaves and wigs on everyday people look fake as heck. Celebs can afford styling that makes it look real enough. If women wear wigs and weaves as a fashion statement, more power to them. A lot of times, I don't think that is the real case. This is a eurocentric world and a real number has been done on the African psyche. I am all natural and I remember a black teacher admiring and saying she couldn't wear a natural because she would look like an African. HELLO!

  • in addition i might add that blacks are our own worst enemy i have a perm but dont perm often and blacks often have negative comments about my hair

  • totally agree with this guy getting weaves that dont resemble our hair in any way is self hatred

  • @blackprincess212006 if it going to resemble our hair..why get it? the point is to change it up and do something different. it has nothing to do with self hate, self hate is more statements such as:

blacks are our own worst enemy...

    so not true!

  • i agree with the guy in the video, i think its sheer laziness and ignorance why most black women don't do research and educate themselves on how to care for afro textured hair...weaves don't look real and never will...think about this? has anyone ever approached a black woman who was wearing a weave and told her she had beautiful hair?!...NEVER!! because everyone can tell it's fake!!!...instead of wasting cash on fake hair that doesn't even look good. educate yourselves...

  • thx @tauro2

  • @tauro2 so, so true

  • Thx Ade161 & tauro2

  • @tauro2 preach

  • @blackprincess212006 ..thank you..

  • I respect your opinion, but I think your are wrong. Why is it a problem when black women wear weave. I just started wearing weave and I love it. Just because I wear a weave does not mean I hate being black it means that I want a different look. So for those brothers who think we are doing this to be white YOU ARE WRONG. I love being a black women, so please dont go there. That's the problem with our race today. We are so busy putting each other down, instead of uplifting each other.

  • I didn't start wearing weave until I cut my perm off and started rocking my fro. I love my fro...I like weave...weave protects my fro. My black guy likes my weave...but he loves my fro. You are on to something here, but we must keep in mind this is not a black and white issue...there are many shades of gray. Going natural freed me from the hold my hair had on me...it gave me the confidence and strength to defy stereotypes...I feel beauty with my hair curly, straight, and most importantly, KINKY!

  • I have to disagree with u. White woman wear wigs, clip on tracks(weave) u name it it goes on, I am a black women and sometimes yes i want to wear a wig, weave y u ask because my hair is naturally curly and I'm looking for a change certain times of the year or occasion. Actually wigs make my hair grow it makes it nice and thick tracks'weave" makes my hair full as well. I like it because there are so many styles that u can accomplish that u wouldn't dare do to your own natural hair.

  • I respect your opinions but I disagree. :P

Your hair style doesn't determine self hate or not. Your attitude does. Hair is hair, it will grow back. If you want to call someone a self hater, check their attitude. Don't worry what's going on with someone else's hair.

I like your garden by the way.

  • WEAVES ARE FOR HORSES

  • @ererye that is kinda funny... jejeje...

  • when you said @ 1:42 to 1:50 "'If I was person of another race, I would frankly be laughing at them, because it is childish and very transparent."".....all I can say is WOW.....it's so good that you actually came right out and said that because it is good to know what a black person would assume ppl of other ethnicities/races would or could actually be thinking in their minds but wont say out loud...and you really hit the nail on the head. I laugh at them too...because I can and they look silly.

  • Who r u to decide how women should do their hair???

  • @Quarzintle he jus a nigga with opinions hop off...lol ...

  • I feel like you are stereotyping. Just because someone's hair is relaxed makes them less than a black person? So if I wore braids, dreds, or an afro then I am truly an African American, right? Lol, and you do know that there are "afrocentric" weaves out there...so don't be deceived. Most women who wear weaves or relaxers do so for versatility and fashion. It's not a political issue. I am NOT my hair! I, however, am a strong BLACK, educated, INDEPENDENT woman who less importantly has a relaxer!

  • wow out of all the things that is going on in the world, black men talk about weaves?its wierd especially since most of you guys dont have jobs etc. Im starting to think you talk about that only because thats the only put down you guys can use against us since we do so well in society anyway. You guys talk about that to shadow your own failures

  • I don't need to be attack and call a fool for my response. You will never repeat this to me in person lol! people hide behind a computer thinking they talking knowledge!

  • @Rozyonnie Lay it on em slowly. We're talking generations of ignorance & mass manipulation. The "Field Nigga" inside will eventually reveal itself.

  • Comment removed

  • I think only black guys make such a big deal about black women hair. I believe honestly that white people do not make such a big deal about it, as much as black people do. If you don't like black women with weaves and relaxers, then don't date them. I think a woman, black white, asian...should be able to do whatever they want to their hair. White women wear clip on extensions, straighten their hair with flat irons, but no one makes a big deal about that.

  • @chaybird001 Question,do you have a perm/relaxer? dont lie.

  • @IMFLORIDA305 I have had my hair relax and natural before. All I am saying is we have bigger issues in the black community, then what a black woman wears on her head. Honestly, I don't care if black women wear a fu3king rat tail, with pink ribbons at the end. Its her head...We need to focus on the real issues that are facing the black community and hair is not one of them.

  • @IMFLORIDA305 @IMFLORIDA305 I have had my hair relax and natural before. All I am saying is we have bigger issues in the black community, then what a black woman wears on her head. Honestly, I don't care if black women wear a fu3king rat tail, with pink ribbons at the end. Its her head...We need to focus on the real issues that are facing the black community and hair is not one of them. I dont see people complaining about white women dying their hair blonde or putting clip on extensions.

  • @chaybird001 Once again, who cares what white people are doing? you're not white so but out of their business. The same go's for any other race. When you see the masses of white folks walking the streets with Afro puffs then you might have a argument until then STFU!!

  • @IMFLORIDA305 Let me explain something to you young man, obviously you are incapable of having a mature conversation without using curse words. My point of using white people in my example was to make a point. Also, I know I am not white, my skin pretty much shows that. This debate is stupid, just like you. So, there is no point to argue with ignorance.

  • @chaybird001 Young Man? your profile has your age listed at 25! You're not my elder. You have a "long flowing weave" i'm not at all surprised you're trying to justify your argument it wont work tobey. You're beautiful so why hide under the horse hair?

  • @IMFLORIDA305 :

Masses of white people walked around with afro puffs in the 70's

  • @chaybird001 CAUSE THEY'RE NO PART OF OUR FUCKIN RACE. where worrying about black women we do the shit all the time.

  • all kinds of women wear weaves not just black women trust me!

  • @dottiemea Noone but you fools are bringing other races into the discussion at hand.Visit white, asian, hispanic, indian etc forums i bet they are'nt talking about you clowns.Get a grip tobey

  • I am a natural black woman, but I have had a weave once, and will probably get another one. However I want to say I applaud you for embracing the black woman's natural beauty. Frankly, there are several black men who do not like women with natural hair. It is strange, when my hair is straightened or in that once instance, I had a weave, men were more prone to try to "talk" to me. I am confident with who I am no matter what my hair looks, but people are quick to judge based on someone's hair.

  • I think more women look at hair as an accessory than a statement of cultural identity. It is also a little more complex than identity for some of us. For example, I have worn my natural curls for years now not because I'm trying to connect to the motherland, but because I feel God makes no mistakes, and relaxers are incredibly unhealthy with a very high ph balance that strips protein. There are more things that should be looked at before drawing this type of conclusion.

  • i have no conclusion in this piece cleo. to me, in my mind it's more like a question to you the women of color, as to it's function if men don't care for it.

  • Black peoplel please stop trying to tell each other how to be black. God has allowed you through Slavery to define who you want to be . You are the only people on earth with this freedom. The others are defined by their land & beliefs, but what you want to be or wear your hair as you like. Make up your own language, if you want. Buy your own land, Create your own banks, schools, education systems, judicials systems as our ancestors did for the other barbarians in the world. Be quiet Abdullah

  • I don't mind straightening or perming hair, do whatever you want with it, as long as it's yours. I'd much rather a girl work with their natural hair though, not because perming it makes you look like you're trying to be white, and not because of having black pride. Just because, that's the hair you were born with. Just like those were the breasts you were born with, and nose, and lips, and eyebrows.....I don't like those drawn on eyebrows either, why would you cut off your eyebrows???

  • I definitely agree. I never liked hair weeves or wigs. I think it's just like when white women get breast implants and plastic surgery. They said that usually those are the women with the highest suicide rate. I wouldn't say it's that serious with women who have fake hair, but...I just like it natural. Be happy with you, that's what I'm sayin'. To me, it's a little fake, and it says something about you. That's like me acting, dressing, and talking like T.I. to get girls to like me. Keep it realz

  • I'm sorry but I disagree completely. First off, other ethnic backgrounds wear weaves as well, plus weaves used to be a religious thing in a lot of African countries to separate. So, I'm almost insulted by this because you don't even know the background history of wear weaves even originated, some women wear it because they're losing their hair to diseases and some of us are even transitioning to our natural roots through weaves. It's a natural thing, so I don't see a problem with it.

  • @Dark0Malkavian Im just now looking at all the typos I made... My bad lol I'm multi-taslking. But yeah, there's nothing wrong with wearing weaves! If you don't like it, then don't wear it but you can't just go around saying that it's bad because of your own personal opinion. Besides, the fact that you'd honestly pick out a girl just because of her hair, that's really degrading and no better than other countries where men picked out women just because of their eyes or how small their feet are.

  • Thank you for sharing your honest opinion. Weaving, wiggin', and permin' have taking its toll on my health, my self esteem and my pocket book. So... I decided to go natural...but the journey takes some time because I needed so healing first. Thanks again! PKizzm

  • I'm a BW and I have str8 shoulder length hair no perms or chemicals. when I wear my hair people always say u trying 2 be white and I'm like r u 4 real so I started wearing weaves because either way they will have something 2 talk about. I can't win for loosing all black people hair is not kinky and nappy.it's beautiful I just don't have that type of hair. So I got a fro wig and the blacks loved it. But I was wearing a weave, So now i wear what i want I can't plz everyone so i'm doing me.

  • I agree, but I have no idea what to do with it. What am I supposed to do? Go outside with my fro? I'm 15...I don't think so. My hair is natural right now, and I generally wear it in a ponytail...

If you have any suggestions that are not: weave, perm or dreads, or flat ironing lemmie know.

  • preach it

  • preach it

  • First off, what is a "white hair do"? Do you mean straight...? And when have you known for a black women to have kinky hair and thought that was beautiful? Maybe more black women will go "all natural" if it was better accepted into society. I for one do not see weave as an "issue". And who are you to sit there and criticize black women. Our hair is our hair and we may do with it as we please. So if you do not find it attractive, then by all means my brotha, simply don't deal with it.

  • he have the nerve i wonder how many times he go to the barber shop and get his napps chop off please i feel like these men need to stop acting like black women need to do everything and there power to please them so what if a women dnt like her nappy hair im not gone sit up here in front is not much u can do what nappy hair but braid it where a fro or a bush and not everybody likes that hair style itx obvious u have know room to talk look at ur head itx cut low leave blk woman alone

  • Also I think its self hatred to change your name. Take a real religion. Make it more African American. Take a culture. A white Culture which is what Islam is. And make it your culture. The White racial groups extends from Europe to the middle east. Yes Indians Iranians and all the other Islamic nations you wish to emulate are of the Caucasoid racial group. Race is not based on skin color. There are Indians and Pakistani who are as dark night with eyes bright blue.

  • To address the self hatred point of view of it. There is no "black" hairstyle. Its hair just like your weight it can be modified. I kinda get irritated at the "sage" types. We live in 2010 I want a hot sexy girl she can have short hair I care but it has to look sexy. Imagine Naomi Campbell with a bush? Get the fuck real man. You take your India Irie or Lauren Hill. And ill take Toni Braxton and Rihanna.

  • Can you honestly say that a bush or afro is more attractive then straight hair. Its not! I'm a black dude. And I'm an honest guy. Typically the European look is more attractive. Its just the truth. All cultures adopt a more Euro-centric view of the world. Its not just those of Black African descent. I agree that weaves looks terrible most of the time. But yea I have never seen an Afro that looked sexy ya know?

  • News flash: Who said that all women had to please you? This guy seems uneducated.

  • @dimestarr91 agree blak men think we do every thing for them

  • You know, I watched this 2 years ago and I disagreed with you. But now I know better. That's why I went natural. I freely admitted that I did have a selfhating problem becasue I was always covering up my natural kinky hair. From that honesty, sooo much healing, self-love, and freedom came along with it. I'm in love with my hair now! : D

  • I respect your opinion, but weaves gives us the versatility. I don't like to look the same way all the time. It's boring wearing the same hair style all the time. Underneath the wigs and weaves my natural hair is without a relaxer. I like my natural hair, but wearing it natural is timing consuming. It gets frustrating trying to tame this hair, so wearing a wig or sew-in is where it's at. Only thing I agree with you on is that your representing the D.

  • @Mocharain Black hair is already versitile so why pay thousands of dollars to immitate hairstyles when our hair can pretty much immitate anything. You can wear it stariahgt, wavy, tight curls, loose curls, braids, twists, or simply in a fro. No ofense but it sounds like an excuse when black women say they wear weave for versitility. Black hair is capable of sooo much(100's of styles).

  • @nayar19 You can't possibly believe that we're making an excuse just to wear a weave! I'd rather apply heat and chemicals to a weave then my own hair. Regardless, it's just hair and if I want to spend thousands of dollars of my hard earned money to "imitate hairstyles" then so be it. If I want a short hair style I can achieve it with a weave. And I'm not going to cut my OWN hair to get a short hair style. That is one of the ways of being versatile with a weave.

  • whats wrong with wearing weave .... i know lots of white girls that wear weave all the time .. majority of the white women on tv wear it... so why is it wrong for back women to wear it..... it dosent make you dumb, or uneducated, or ugly, or less pretty.... i know lots of black men that dog out black women about their natural hair and dont want to have full black children beause they want a "good haired" child .... they get white girls because they have low self esteem now thats self hatered

  • @MoneyIsMyMajor Black women nned to stop comparing thmemselves to women of other races and then things will get better for us. Caucasian women have hair that's stronger and more durable than black hair. Yes they wear weaves perms and hair dyes too but in the long run, who has the issue of trying to get their hair to grow past their ears or their neck? Who suffers from hair loss and hair damage more? White,Asian,Hispanic, or Black? Its been evident for so long that we cant do what other women do.

  • @nayar19 to be honest black women dont have an issue of growing their hair... i dont compare myself aganist white women at all...blk men compare us to women of other races because of low selfesteem issues such as hair...blk women have the power to do as any other race...i was saying that i know white girls that do the same as us and weave shouldnt be a problem because plenty women of all races wear it... i dont know know where you all are from but plenty of blk women have hair pass the shoulders

  • @MoneyIsMyMajor Oh. Well, I need to visit where you are cause its rare to come across a blk woman with lenghty hair here.

  • First, I have a lot to say about this, so sorry in advance for the multiple posts, but I don't do videos, so...here goes...

  • Apparently YouTube is having issues, so I'll try to post later.

  • Lastly, I am a black sister with natural hair who prefer to wear weaves. Y? Maybe, deep down, their lies a touch of resentment towards my natural hair. However, the main reason is because I know that I look better with longer hair. I know what fits me. What a lot of people fail to realize is that out ancestors used to do a lot of unnatural things to be more attractive. Please research. No matter what it takes, black women r going to b beautiful. Even if it means decorating our crown!!

  • It is like the Kentucky derby. It is a competition to be the prettiest. No one wants to be second best. As black women, we are scrutinized in every single way. Black men tell us to wear our hair natural. Some black men don't know what natural is. They think permed hair without a weave is natural. If you are too dark, u are looked upon as least attractive than the lighter complected women. It is an outrage that black men would not accept our dire attempt to be #1. I don't think u understand!!

  • As I have stated in another video with relevance to this topic, every woman wants to feel beautiful. Black women are competing with other races as well as within our own race. A lot of men claim this natural mumbo jumbo and would leap over a black sister to get to a Hispanic, white or Chinese woman. I have seen it with my own eyes. I have also seen and heard black men prefer lighter and longer hair women over dark skin or kinky hair women. I think that is disgusting.

  • I really dont think I hate myself...I had my natural hair for a month last month. I truly enjoyed it to be honest however it just was so difficult to maintain. Every day before going to sleep I had to twist it and untwist it in the morning and it was falling off. The lenght of my natural hair is quiet long but watching it fall off was traumatising. Before you speak about self hate find out from woman why they put on weave.

  • preach rockin my natrual hair to the end

  • I say be you, but black women back in the day had long hair. My mother hot combs her hair and her hair is down her back, and she does not have the curly hair type or the stereotypical "good hair" as we label it. I think the perm is the main reason for black women not having longer hair, and then some wear weaves sometimes to hide the damage or make their hair look longer

  • I get you.

But why does black man like the white girl with the long blond hair ?

  • cause it looks sexy? if the girl is hot?

  • hi brother i really agree with you but do you know why our beloved sister going the round way and Followring other people customs simple we the black male gender are lacking the right kowledge we must bay the responsibiltY of the action of our sisters because many of us blackmales encorage it then we cry the sisters down how silly that is get you self together blackman before its to late we dont want to lose no more of our black sisters to the devel who is rulling our homes today

  • your garden is a mess!

  • [cont...] The fact of having to dye my hair or to cut it to have a partiular look does not appeal to me either. So I wear a weave to achieve these different looks without damaging my own hair. Im not knocking women who go all natural. I admire them. And not ALL weaves are made to look like white womens hair. I for one wear kinky twist with extentions. I certianly dont think white women came up with that one. Please think before you judge cause trust me other races are laughing at you.

  • If your going to put down women for wearing weaves, please do it to ALL races of women and not just black women. I hang out with plenty of women of other races and culters and they do in fact wear weaves. The only difference between our weave and thiers is that thiers is called "extentions". And not everyone who wears a weave is ashamed of thier race. Some wear it for a protective style. I for one dont like to put heat in my hear nor do I like fighting with it everyday. [cont...]

  • Again, you are precisely right...Regardless of who else wears weave...I am talking about black people because I am black, and proud of wearing and caring for what God gave me...Black women are so called "high maintenance" right..that is why 70% of black women are single! And as for lilmama10189, I could not take you serious with a name like that. Therefore you calling someone ignorant, when you believe that EVERY body wears weave is unfounded. So you do your research as well not only in the hood

  • i think that you are ignorant because everyody in every race wears weaves ifs not just african american women in all reality white women wear weaves more than black women its just that the dont do full head weaves which are more commen with african american women .

so before you start talking do your research please

  • im black haha and im with u

  • @lilmama10189 THATS A LIEEE A COMPLETE LIKE BALCK WOMEN WEAR MORE WEAVES THAT ANY OTHER RACE... SWEETHEARTTT DONT GET IT TWISTED

  • I hear you loud and clear. I am an African American woman who proudly is ANTI-WEAVE! You are trying to what you are not...You are telling GOD straight up, I dont like the work you did on my hair. The world is laughing at the sheer ignorance of black women "faking and shaking" wearing the crown of another human being, and it dont even look good...Wash your hair, what bimonthly, once a week? what is this.? I cleanse, condition and set my hair every 2 days? takes me what 1.5 hrs! then i buy stock

  • black men always putting the black woman down smh

  • @decaturbeauty I think it;s both ways

  • (lol), Whether a woman wears a weave or not is a serious issue?

WTF? People in different counties are dying of starvation and you are worried about women wearing weaves?

    Non issue.

  • I think your answer is the best of all answers!

I'm a brown woman from europe we don't say black we say brown women

The weave thing isn't an issue at all

  • And whoever is giving me negative points because I believe in black women's freedom to wear their hair however the fuck they want to, you're a fascist pansy and you can kiss our weave wearing asses! I'll never give up my weave!

  • I don't blame you I won't give u mines either. I have plenty of my own hair but I can't comb it all everyday because it's natural. It's easy to just wake up and brush you weave or take down your braids and go.

  • @starbright8701--Yeah, I don't perm my hair and I live in an extremely cold climate which is very bad for my hair. The braids and weaves have HELPED me grow my edges out. So it's unnerving to hear people say we want to be white. Like come on!!

  • your soo fucked

like its there own choice it dont matter what color you are

what you are saying is just like saying wight people ware these shoos so if you ware them your trying to look white

you should just shut your mouth

black women are just trying to look pretty

and i think there dooing a good job

people like you piss me off

so if you don't like the way they look go fuck yourself!

  • i wear my hair natural and my hair grows just fine WITHOUT THE CHEMICALS AND TIGHT ASS WEAVE! my hair never grew in a perm. since i went natural its armpit length now. you weave wearing heffers should try it. Its cheaper too

  • Your right. Black women need to STOP wearing weaves. You will not be Indian or white or whatever. Be proud of who u are u can't change it.

All these women trying to buy my indian hair.

  • You're kind of an idiot. Some people wear weaves to grow their natural hair and some because they fucking feel like it. Who the hell are you to tell anyone how to do their hair? Self-hatred? Attempt to look white? Pfft.

  • Umm... In all due fairness, hair can be braided without the sewing in of weave. Additionally, the man is merely giving his take on the matter. He is not starting a global crusade to have weave banned. It seems to me that he is simply trying to discover the real reason WHY women wear it, while also attempting to encourage natural hair instead.

  • I didn't mention anything about braids. Some people like variety and it's their goddamn right to have it. What seems to you is not what seems to me. He's not discovering anything, he's making idiotic comments about black women wanting to be white. Calling it "childish", "disgusting", "self-hatred" and "transparent". Dudes like this can eat a big fat one!

  • So are your intelligence saying our (Black Women) hair can't grow unless we wear a weave....someone elses hair? Who's the idiot!? What a ignorant thing to say!!!

  • @Bellamora72001 -What the fuck are you reading? Where did I say that black women's hair can't grow without a weave? Oh that's right, I didn't! "are your intelligence", yeah you're a fucking troll.

  • Well, now you've resulted to calling names instead of overstanding my comment. so instead of owning what you've said I'm going to let u restle with yourself.

  • @Bellamora72001 What the hell are you talking about, idiot? I'm calling you exactly what you are. You accused me of saying some dumb shit that you cannot prove I said and now you're trying to deflect attention form your inane comments!

  • Also, in my personal opinion one of the most attractive women I 've seen in my life is Lauryn Hill and her greeeeaaat hair! I think that black women follow the show business trend that in order to sell into the white market (that is obviously larger )makes stereotypes according to white beauty! stop buying that shit! Mentioning again I am white girl from europe..:))

  • All I can say is that I am not black and I discovered today that lace wigs on you tube cuz we don't have that things here in europe..and yeah it looks funny trying to be something you are not, like having hair that other races have..as weird as it is for asian trying to get rid of the puffy eyelids too (btw have you seen this glue product that does that?) or indians trying to be white with creams or white folks trying to be black with tanning. Its just weird! Try to love yourself as you are!

  • I think women who wear weaves are lazy and have low self esteem.

  • it's funny... I commented on this video over a year ago defending hair relaxing... I've gone all natural since and can't get enough of my kinks and curls. I can admit now that I had some insecurities about what naturally grows out of my head. I've been able to work those issues out since then and I feel so much more confident and beautiful... thank goodness.

  • I love hearing stuff like that...

  • Beautiful, congrats to Uuuuuuu:D

  • I'm going to make a very unpopular comment, looking at the 1st ten.

More brothers need to make vids like this, so that more of us sisters would know how you all feel about our hair.

    Thank you brother

  • thank you Latifah.

  • I agree with you 100%. The most unfortunate part is that most of the weave is used by the poorest and most ignorant ones of us. Its an attack, but only a few of us are aware of this. Those who are defending the practice of weaving; are responding out of emotion.
