I think he's been cited out of context. I don't see him as having a staunch, anti-second amendment stance. I saw him arguing more for stricter back ground checks than wanting to out and out ban anything. I don't think people should be able to buy guns from a gun show without a background check or registration. The way I see it is if someone's commited a violent crime against someone, they don't deserve their rights, because they obviously don't respect the rights and liberty of other people.

from my view point it dosn't seem like he's against guns at all. It seems more like he just wants better tracking and confirmation on them. @cabritorsss but the point about it is of course the founding fathers believed that gun ownership was important when the country was founded, as it was. 200 years ago the country was a far more dangerous place, far less organised and so it was necessary to carry weapons to protect your family. In a modern society with an efficient well organised police force it is ridiculous to have people walking around carrying unessesary arms.

I think he's been cited out of context. I don't see him as having a staunch, anti-second amendment stance. I saw him arguing more for stricter back ground checks than wanting to out and out ban anything. I don't think people should be able to buy guns from a gun show without a background check or registration. The way I see it is if someone's commited a violent crime against someone, they don't deserve their rights, because they obviously don't respect the rights and liberty of other people.

To be fair, Australia, the UK, and Canada all have outright bans and stricter regulations than the US, and no genocides have resulted from those laws.
Also, in the US. the homicide rate is 3 times that of Canada and Australia, close to 3 times that of the UK
Being that the US has the highest rates of gun related death, lack of regulation might have some affect on those figures. It could be too, because of criminals coming up from Mexico.
Mexico has stricter gun laws but twice the murder rate

Most of the guns used in organized crime in Mexico come from the US. For the 10 per hundred thousand murders in Mexico, 9.88 are commited with guns. You could make the argument that if they didn't have the guns, the figures would be the same. However, guns make it way easier to kill people. It ultimately has to do with economic and civil unrest though. When people don't have money, they do things to survive that they wouldn't otherwise do. Cars kill way more people though. gonna bann them? no.
