Darth Maul kicks SO much arse. The reason he did lose to Obi Wan here was due to the fact he underestimated him, did you not see how he dies? Letting his guard down when Obi jumps over and cuts him in half? Darth Maul here is better than Obi Wan. Just because someone loses once doesn't mean they aren't better. You see this in sports all the time.

Why would Sidious go after a random Jedi like Obi-Wan? Sure, he becomes one of the greatest masters in the order, but at this point he's just a padawan. And plus, why would he need another apprentice when he's got Maul, and the Sith always stay in twos? Maul never even would have fought Obi-Wan if he weren't with the queen, whom Maul was trying to kill.

no, darth maul didnt react as quick because if you remember the horrible look on obiwan as he tried to pull his the saber too him.

Maul, mimicking this face had no idea he was under a stunning "trance" a trance i call, jedi mind trick. Quickly obiwan jumps into the air and destroys Ray Park for all hes worth. Though, the fact that sidiouse giving him orders NOT to kill obiwan, but to seduce him to the dark side like Master Ciferdias.(count dooku) Obiwan was sidious's original target.

what alot of people fail to realize about the sith, is they tend to be over confident with themselves... Obi-wan was disarmed.. would you consider your target much of a threat disarmed?? so Obiwan Jumps from a position under Maul, over him and kills him by a bisecting cut which "shows" itself to be a "superior manuevure" , BUT when Vader in RotS jumps at Obiwan, OB1 easily carves him up, so my question is why didn't Maul chop up OB1? other than the script...

Yep and no doubt Anakin was taught that during their training before episode 2, by then, Obi-Wan already figured out how to counter that maneuver, thereby, countering it when Anakin and Obi-Wan had their Duel on Mustafar.
