What reasons do you have to say it's a stray, just because it's an outdoors cat. THis is addressed to everyone: PLEASE you can't "take home" someone else's cat! At the most you could assume it's lost and ask around or put up posters.

EXACTLY. That's why people should keep their kitties indoors. There's just too much risk at letting them out...dogs, cat haters that would try and kill or injure your cat for fun, cars, poisonous plants and chemicals, other cats that could infect your kitty with Fel-V or leukemia. No thanks. I keep my cats inside always.

I keep my cats indoors too and I have three. I hate denying them of the outdoors :(. Its so sad but there are a lot of dangers outside where I live because I live in the city. I try to make it up to them by playing with them a lot and providing lots of toys, catnip, entertainment and affection. I also spoil them with their favorite foods. I love them so much and couldn't bare to lose one of them to a car or a dog or worse...

Oh I agree completely. I just feel bad they can't be in the nice grass or lay in the shade of a tree, but sometimes I put them on a leash and take them out, but not very often because I'm scared if I do it too much they might get into a habit of trying to run out the door again and the last time that happened one of my cats ran out into the open street while sheets of rain were coming down. It was very nerve racking.

We had a cat like this in our neighborhood. Would talk and come up to anyone. She would travel as much as 4 miles away from home everyday but return every night. The little old lady who owned her gave her a little collar and tag that said " I'm not lost, I just like to walk and meet people." and her home phone number under it in case she was ever hurt. Everybody knew and loved that cat.
