@septip123 '6-12 Insect Repellent' was one of the alternate sponsors during the latter seasons of The Twilight Zone and I guess Rod doing this advert was his way of saying 'Thank You'.
Rod didn't like "shilling" for commercial products, but his lifestyle dictated he HAD to- and he was somewhat of a ham as well. Any commercial [or PSA] was made more memorable by his presence; in a New York Manufacturers Hanover bank commercial in 1973, when Paul Lynde goes through the "hell" of their bank tellers being friendly and courteous to him {"I don't like it!!"}, Rod appears, saying, "New York: a city of eight million CRITICS. A city that's hard to please...but we're trying".
Me too! I've been hoping for years now that someone would post it on YouTube. It's places near the top of my list as one of the funniest, cleverest, and most memorable TV commercials ever made.
I remember that stuff. 'Smelled like the devils' socks, but worked great. 'Wish I could still find it.

I love one minute he's in an ad for "Let's love the Earth" and the next he's shilling for a goddamn bug spray. Yeah, he's classy.

Are you sure this ad was in 1965 because Rod retained his 'TZ look' until at least early-1968. I'd say this ad looks to be around 1969-1970.

I'm really not sure, that's why I used the tilde to just round-about-date it.
