I agree with this guy. The Facebook privacy controls, though complicated, are exactly what Id want. However, they have a 3rd party access option set default to "yes."
We lost control of our own lives the moment the Patriot Act was signed into law. This complete lack of privacy shouldn't come as a shock to you people. You can be searched with no cause or warrant, your phone lines tapped, your computer confiscated, you family imprisoned at any time for any reason if you are deemed a threat. Quit whining about facebook and start paying attention to the real world around you. We are all in serious trouble.
In a job interview yesterday, there was a long discussion regarding user interface preferences. While the company's product is on a much smaller scale than FB, the same problems mentioned in the video came up. There are limits to adding preferences to a product before it becomes bloated.
i don't mind having some a bigger, more complicated interface if it's within reason, but i don't use facebook anyways. but unfortunately they've been doing the same thing with myspace. a lot of features were fine and commonsense to begin with.

I'm confused... he didn't even mention Facebook ones, and well actually he didn't say anything connected to the title, or did he?

In light of Failbooks most recent complete middle finger to it's users regarding privacy, this guy is an as*hole.

What he basically is saying is that it's too complicated to protect your privacy. What a bs.

So facebook isn't worried about the erosion of privacy because it's inevitable.

Users get upset until they use the new version for a while and then they forget.

That is EXACTLY why you add a choice regarding the detail of settings. LIke simple/advanced/expert or something like that.
But I guess developers are too lazy to keep track of all these options.
