  • Wow! Not only was I surprised by how much breath I could take in and how long I could hold it (I've never been able to hold my breath more than a few seconds), my lungs actually feel expanded already! I'll keep this up. Thanks, Dashama. :)

  • I am being pokey here but I dunno how come you teachers dont know correct pronounciations ...and no I am not talking about accent.

    Yogasana = Yog + Asana and not Yoga + Sana

    It is difficult to explain in text unless you know Devnagari script

    but simply put even if you spell it Yoga and Pranayama, you dont actually pronounce the 'a' there like you do in umbrella

    anyway keep up the good work^^

  • IF HINDU'S gods WERE REAL THERE WOULD NOT BE POVERTY CAZ ALMOST 40 MILLIONS OF INDIANS SLEEP IN THE STREET!     YOu see.....nobody forces you to do anything......or watch any videos if you don't like....but you have no right to make hurtful comments.......

    Forget about India.....even Greeks/Romans had a lot of deities....along with belief in Universal Creator......so called "Pagan deity symbols" are very common in US....like State seal of California.......do you then agree that California is a rich state because of the grace of "Minnerva" (the Greek Goddess of inspiration)??? lolz!

    You may not do yoga if you do not like to.....nobody is expecting you to.....ofcourse there is no doubt that non Hindus can definitely do it..........

    But, deriving spiritual benefits/health benefits from yoga and at the same time disrespecting the Hindu sages as "ignorant Pagan heathens" is not morally sound!!

    Its much better to stick to your own religion in that case!....Isn't it ?

  • I have something to tell ya... Your videos are Great! but sometimes when you Explain the method While you are Demonstrating it gets mixed up n the concentration jumps between Demo n Instructions ,So try to Do the demo first n Then dub Instructions later .

  • You can begin with this right now Just do what you can and work your way up. Be cautious in the beginning as you may become light headed. namaste

  • namaste my friend. snoriing is a mild form of sleep apnea. can be a result of collapsed nasal passageway and/or excess fat in the throat area or mucus build up..

    yoga can help, but losing weight and improving the diet is most helpful. namaste

  • I have found your instruction so helpful. I play underwater hockey, a sport that requires underwater swimming and breath holding. Your instruction has helped me so much and really expanded my lungs. Thank you.

    v.interesting! I have not seen the expansion beath before (there is something like it in Theos Bernard's Hatha Yoga book, I recall.)

    Do you have a sanskrit name for it - any idea where there is more info on it?

  • can you built muscle with yoga?or is it mainly for flexibility? i mean you have isometric exercises but are they enough?i ve seen hindu guys and they look like anorexics...no offence

  • its not for muscle increase per sei but for muscle flexibility and strength as well as joints and nerves and increase and improve of you cardiovascular sistem

  • Coughing is natural, as you are cleansing & purifying your lungs, It is releasing toxins trapped in your air sacs lining the lungs.

    I was in NY last weekend teaching yoga & the pollution in the air & the subway effected my lungs. I have been detoxing ever since. It is not the best thing for your veins to cough, yet people cough naturally.

    As long as your intention is not to cough, if it does happen, allow it to. It's releasing pollution from within you.

  • Pranayam is very important and have to be done after Haath asanas and tehn meditate.

    Haath Yoga gives flexibily of body and open up the clogged viens.

    In pranayam do not stress. Wen cough comes, take rest. Generally before cough occurs u cna feel irritation. Stop on that. It will be good. Coughing puts stress on ur viens.

    If u can do mantra as u do pranayam, it helps more to control ur mind.
